This is a fantastic story about a little boys love of his sister's Penelope's tights. Patrick has a wonderful imagination and for him polka-dot tights have so many uses...
'like rescuing bears drowning at sea or taking hot dog for a walk.'

Unfortunately, as with most sublings, once Penelope notices that Patrick loves her tights she wants them back! Disaster strikes when Penelope spills ice cream on them. The day gets worse when Patrick is dragged around the supermarket. Luckily his parents save the day and Patrick gets his very own brightly coloured tights!

This is such a funny story and we loved Patrick's imaginative play. It was so nice to see his parents encouraging him to just be himself and allowing him to express himself. Tights don't have to be just for girls!
The illustrations are vibrant and colourful and really capture the great characters in this very relatable story. This would be a lovely book to have in an early years setting to encourage children to be themselves but it also makes a fab bedtime story.
Thank you to Raintree Publishers and NetGalley for this eARC.

Wow! This book is simply brilliant. I love the story of how much Patrick loves his tights .... Only they were not his but his sister's but they were his most favourite. This book is a great story to read to children, it opens up the conversation of how tights aren't just for girls. I was so pleased to see Patrick's parents accepting his love of beautiful, colourful tights. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this brilliant book.

This is brilliant! A story to champion imaginative play & defy gender stereotyping in young children.

Patrick's play is wild & free... apart from the times when his sister wants her tights back.

Lively pics & a tenderly-told story.

Today's featured book is 'Patrick's Polka Dot Tights' by Kristen McCurry. Here is what we thought...

Bella: 10/10
It has a great meaning. I like the whole story. I can't choose my
favourite bit. I can't wait till it comes out, I would love to read it again!

Charlotte: 8/10

I really enjoyed reading this with Bella, it's a really different book following Patrick and his love for his perfect polka dot tights. It challenges gender stereotypes, subtly weaving acceptance of being who you are throughout, it was interesting reading with such a young child. The simple illustrations are beautiful and compliment the text, MacKenzie Hayley does a wonderful job. Overall, I think is a fun book to have on your child's bookshelf.

This is a lovely story showing a child’s imagination with a pair if tights. However, it does more than that, it subtly suggests that tights are something that anyone can wear, boy or girl. The parents see the importance of the tights to Patrick and get him more.
The illustrations make this book with pictures of Patrick with his tights.
A lovely story!

A beautifully illustrated book, I loved the story and it’s a great story to share, as well as encouraging individuality and freedom of expression, it also encourages sharing and compromise. Simply wonderful story and the colours are so engaging, I want a pair of those polka dot tights !

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I think most parents can relate to this book - where a child becomes totally obsessed with a particular toy or item of clothing, so I found myself smiling at this story.
Lovely cute book, which really explored a child's imagination with regards to what he used his tights for.
Alongside cute and colourful illustrations too
