A real delight of a novel set in beautiful Cornwall. Kerry returns to her home town leaving her flat in London, to hopefully have a happier and better lifestyle. She rediscovers how privacy is non existent in a small village and has to try and keep all her activities under cover until she feels ready to disclose them. Lots of uplifting and romantic plots that everyone will enjoy.

This is the second book in the Penvennan Cove series by Linn B. Halton, and as a follow-on from the previous book Coming Home to Penvennan Cove so really should not be read as a standalone. I really would recommend that you read the first book. This series is a gentle series dealing with life in a Cornish coastal village, with romance and intrigue perfectly interwoven into the heart of a warm and welcoming community.

I loved returning to Penvennan Cove. I really enjoyed the first book and wanted to find out more about the lives of Kerra and her lovely childhood sweetheart Ross (who gave me massive Ross Poldark in a contemporary setting vibes!). This book continues the story where the first book ended, with Kerra and Ross keeping their relationship under wraps because their families have been at war for years, and because they want Kerra’s father Eddie to accept that Ross is nothing like his father Jago. Unfortunately things do not run smoothly when Jago arrives in Penvennan Cove from his home in Spain.

The characters in this series are really beginning to feel very real to me. I love Sy and Tegan, Drew and Felicity, and Ripley the cat, but I loved how we got to see more of Mrs Moyle and Arthur in the village shop this time. Also I have to give an honorary mention to the beautiful Bertie, the miniature schnauzer. As the dog mum of two miniature schnauzers, he was a lovely part of the story, and I have to say I loved the creative way in which Kerra and her neighbour Drew resolved the issues between Ripley and Bertie.

The sense of community is so strong in this series, and I love the way in which Kerra is able to help out so much of the village with her creative ideas and financial backing of the community. I liked the way in which she comes up with ideas that will help the village, from buying a house to rent to a young local who is priced out of accommodation by the tourist market, to setting up a community hub website enabling the locals to help one another, and keep even the most house-bound of people connected.

This is such a lovely gentle romance, that feels very authentic, and as with real life, the course of true love never runs smoothly with stumbling blocks and intrigue to overcome along the way. This story provides massive feel-good vibes that left me desperate to know how things are going to progress in the third, eagerly anticipated book in the series.

Making waves at penvennan Cove by Linn B. Halton.
For once, things are going well for thirty-year-old Kerra Shaw. She has a fulfilling job helping small businesses in the local community, she is within a few minutes' walk of all the people she loves best, and most importantly, she has finally got together with her childhood sweetheart, Ross.
It's not all plain sailing, though, because they have to keep their relationship a secret. The feud between their families still rages on, and Kerra doesn't want to pour fuel on its flame and risk losing everything.
But Kerra should know better than anyone that secrets don't stay hidden for long in a community like Penvennan Cove...
This was a really enjoyable read. Great story and characters especially Kerra,Ross,Sienna,Sissy,Georgia,Sam,Poppy,Drew,Sly,Teagan,Nettie,Gawen, Yvonne, Alice,Tom,Betty and James and Eddie and Jago. There was a lot of characters which was a little confusing but the main character Kerra I loved and Ross. I hope there is more to come. 4*.

Kerry Shaw has returned to Cornwall following the sale of her successful London business. She is keen to help local businesses and invest in the village but likes to keep her involvement low key. She has also rekindled her relationship with Ross, her childhood sweetheart. They have decided to keep this private but Kerry soon realises that there are no secrets in a small community as rumours spread and family feuds resurface. A really enjoyable escape to Pennvennan Cove.

A story about community, entrepreneurship and about sometimes having to choose your partner over your family.

Kerra is happy to be back home and creating a life for herself. She’s helping to support the community and encouraging locals to start their own small business ventures. But there’s one area of life that she’s struggling with. Her father can’t stomach the fact that she still loves Ross, whose father, Jago, treated him badly. Kerra tries to keep her relationship with Ross under wraps. But all hell breaks loose when Jago returns.

Will Kerra and Ross choose each other over their families? Will she be able to get over not having a relationship with her father? Will Ross be able to shake off the stranglehold Jago has over him?

A sweet, gentle romance that I truly enjoyed!

This is the 2nd book in the series and I did enjoy it, but you meet most of the characters etc in the first one so I think I personally would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the first one before this one
Great read though

Making Waves at Penvennan Cove - Linn B. Halton

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Aria and I am leaving this review voluntarily

I have recently read the first book in this series so it was fresh in my mind when I started this one. It was nice to be back with the occupants of Penvennan Cove. Kerra is trying to help local businesses achieve their full potential - putting her career back on track after leaving London.

I feel that I got more enjoyment out of this book having already read Coming Home to Penvennan Cove, but I would hesitate to say that this could not be read as a standalone. I would highly recommend this series to anyone that enjoys a romance set in a seaside village.

Rating: 4/5

What a fantastic story this is, indeed,
With plenty going on, a pleasure to read.
I received a complementary copy of this book
And this is my honest review, please take a look.

This is the second book in a series that's great
With characters to whom it is easy to relate.
However I suspect that you'll enjoy it more
If you first read the book that comes before!

Looking for a story with secrets galore
Where love and romance needs to conquer all?
Then take a good look at this delightful read
It may provide just what you need!

It is a Romeo and Juliet type of story
Where fathers are feuding though why's a mystery.
That feud has torn their families apart
But now their offspring love each other with all their heart.

Sometimes it seems that every Dad
Is out to make their offspring sad.
There are several involved in this tale
Who seem to do that without fail!

Secrets aren't kept and gossip is rife
False rumours causing trouble and strife.
With a village full of drama and fun
There's even a pantomime to be done

The sense of community permeates it all
Though someone's return causes troubles to call.
But can family drama stop romance
Or will love conquer all if given the chance?

Returning home to support her father, following her mother's death results in Kerra finding her happy place. She is forced to keep her relationship secret as both their father's have a longstanding feud. Life in a gossipy village is full of drama. This is book 2 in the series.

Making Waves at Penvennan Cove by Linn B Halton is a slice of life novel following a few months in the life of Kerra Shaw, a young woman who had grown up in the village of Penvennan in Cornwall. At eighteen she had run off to London to find her fortune and did so when she sold the tech business she had created. After he mother's death, she had returned to Penvennan to be with her father and had renovated the cottage she had inherited from her grandmother: Pedrevan Cottage. She had been fortunate that her next-door neighbor, Drew, was a talented architect who oversaw the process. A local building company, Treolar, did the work and reintroduced her to Ross Treolar, whom she had had a crush on the entire time she was growing up. He found his feelings to be reciprocal the only problem being the feud between their fathers. Because of this their relationship had to be kept quiet until the time was right. Kerra was using the money she had made to make investments in her hometown, which she was also keeping quiet.

This was a lovely glimpse into one village in Cornwall and its goings-on. There were plenty of good characters available to provide the color and sub-plots that made this such an enjoyable read. There really was no serious plot but the narration was totally enthralling and the fabulous characters made it interesting and worth the read. Being a huge fan of the Doc Martin TV series, I am always ready for more Cornwall and this lovely book fit the bill perfectly. No overly exciting, but very hometown, I recommend it.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Making Waves at Penvennan Cove. by Aria, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #aria #makingwavesatpenvennancove #linnbhalton

I would firstly like to say a big thank you to NetGalley for very kindly approving me for an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review.
Making Waves At Penvennan Cove is the second book in the Penvennan Cove series. It is set in a lovely little cosy seaside village with lots of wonderful characters. The descriptions of the village made me feel like I was actually there in Penvennan Cove.
Kerry moves back to the seaside village and everything in her life is finally running smoothly. Just one little problem though - she has to keep her relationship a secret…….
This was a wonderful read and I really enjoyed the story but you really must read the first instalment to know who everyone is and follow the story.

I didn't realise this was the second in the series so I did feel I "missed" something, so would recommend anyone thinking of reading this does read the first one.

it was a nice book and I do feel had I read the first would have got a lot more out of it.

I was invited to read this book by the Publisher via Netgalley. I started to read it and quickly realised that there was a previous book. I was finding it hard to get into, so I stopped reading and read the first book.
I found this book easier to get into once I had read the previous book. I enjoyed the location in Cornwall was it is one of my favourite book settings.
This is a little slow in places, but still enjoyable. If there is another book in the series then I would definitely read it.

This book is a true "second in a series" and should NOT be read as a standalone. I think this should be the first line of the description, as it was incredibly difficult to get through without knowing any backstory. You are truly thrown into an ongoing plot, conflict, relationships, etc. I struggled immensely at the beginning but the setting, scenery and general idea had me keeping on. I'd be interested to read the first book to see if it helped me have a better grasp on the story as a whole.

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC

I didn’t realise that this was a second in the series so, I found this book a little confusing at first and I had to get my head around all the characters and find out what had happened in the first book. After awhile I settled into it and enjoyed this sweet story set in Cornwall. It was such a lovely chick/lit book and I was sorry to finish it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I have been a fan of Linn’s work for a while now. I haven’t quite read everything that she has written but I am getting there. ‘Making Waves At Penvennan Cove’ certainly sounded like one hell of a read and then some. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my Kindle and settled down for what proved to be a delightful read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Making Waves At Penvennan Cove’ but more about that in a bit.
I was drawn into this story from the very beginning. The synopsis was enough to grab my attention and the story within the covers of the book sealed the deal as it were. I started to read the story only intending to read a couple of chapters but I just couldn’t put the book down and I ended up reading several chapters all in one go. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I liked the character of Kerra so much that I just had to keep reading to find out if she got the ‘happy ever after ending’ that she so deserved. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Making Waves At Penvennan Cove’ and I had to say goodbye to Kerra and the other characters. I found ‘Making Waves At Penvennan Cove’ to be a gripping read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
‘Making Waves At Penvenna Cove’ is well written. The author has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of her books feels more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. For me, the story hits the ground running and maintained a fairly gentle pace throughout. This is actually the second book in the Penvennan Cove series. In my view it could be read perfectly well as a standalone but because I am a bit OCD, I would advise that you read the series in order. I love the very vivid and realistic way in which Linn describes Penvennan Cove. It would be easy to imagine that I was there with the sound of the crashing of the waves and the sun on my face.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Making Waves At Penvennan Cove’ and I would recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Linn’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

This is book#2 of a series so we have to read "Coming Home to Penvennan Cove" to understand this. Looks like there is going to be another installment (most likely the final).

I usually avoid such 'cliffhanger' books in romance. If they 'not so lengthy', I try and give it a go.
I made up my mind to read this one - so I dutifully read the book#1 first.

The writing and the story line were good but in spite of interesting bits, both the books felt a bit dragged out and the reader might get bored.

Right now, my feelings on these two books are all over and am not sure if I would want to read the third book. But definitely will try out another book of this author which is not part of a series.

This was a decent read but not one I'll likely remember never year.. I didn't register to any of the characters

Had I realized this author also wrote as Lucy Coleman I probably would not have picked this book up. I just find the writing style so slow and boring. The more interesting storylines are given only the briefest mentions while Kerra's story is given way more time than it deserves. I understand that she is supposed to be the primary character, but there's just not much to her. Her biggest problem in life is that her she's dating a man who her father will not approve - and of course it all comes out exactly as expected and makes you really dislike her father. Her life is kind of annoyingly perfect - she's wealthy, every job decision she makes goes well for her, she's surrounded by friends and support, and is dating a pretty great guy. I was far more interested in what was going on in the Felicity/Drew and Alice/Ian, but there was so little with them. The other problem with this book is the pacing - parts are mind-numbingly boring and others make you glad you didn't give up on the book. To be clear, I did not hate this book at all, I just thought it could have been so much better. I'd rate it somewhere between 2.5 and 3 stars.
