Grace was the perfect unreliable narrator for this complex, poignant and non-prescriptive examination of the realities of loneliness. Whose responsibility is another person’s loneliness? And does anyone deserve it..?

The cast of characters brought so many layers to the conversation and I really appreciated that none of them behaved how you’d expect them to, considering their ages and life circumstances.

Grace is definitely a protagonist that will stay with me. The ending fit the rollercoaster she led us through perfectly. I am so looking forward to reading more from C.S. Robertson.

This was an unusual idea with a well developed, main character - who blurs the line between who is good and who is bad! Would recommend.

Thank you Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley and sorry for the delay in reviewing.
I loved this book, it reminded me a bit of Rear Window.
Well written, good characters and I would like to read more by this author.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, I particularly found the intricacies surrounding Grace's job fascinating. However, it did fall a little too far on the predictable side for me, hence the missing star. That said, I would not hesitate to pick up another book written by this author.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my copy of this unusual read.

This is the first book I have read of this author and I’m glad I did. This book was very dark but thrilling.

Many thanks to Netgalley and C.S. Robertson for the advanced copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.

Well what can I say…..a strange but good book. When i started i wasn’t sure about it, few pages in and i was hooked. Halfway through i felt like i had missed something and went back a few pages to check. I hadn't, the twists are just very twisty!!

A really good read, strange, twisty, very different but very good.

I absolutely loved this book!!

Grace is a cleaner but not the regular kind, she cleans scenes of death. Whilst cleaning these houses she stumbles upon a mystery and becomes determined to solve it. Grace was such an interesting character, she may be a social recluse but her voice in this story really drew me in.

Highly recommend

I didn't really like this book. I had high hopes as many of my fellow reviewers loved it. I think it just my personal preference and not the fault of the author. I just felt that it went on a bit too long. I enjoyed getting to know Grace but it just didn't keep my attention.

While the premise intrigued me. Sadly this didn't end up working for me.
I found myself bored early on. With it taking half the book for me to start to care. But sadly that didn't last very long.
The writing was fast paced. Which helped a little. But overall something was missing.

The book features a very entertaining premise. We are all intrigued by crime, true crime and corpses. Grace has the perfect job for this, that being a crime scene cleaner. This was really a thrilling read, and I hope there is more in future.

I could not put this down! The whole premise was so unique and kept me hooked throughout.
Grace’s character was really well rounded and I loved that although she’s a bit of a shy loner - she was also absolutely ruthless.

The premise of this book is one of a kind, definitely worth a read!

I've heard so much about The Undiscovered Deaths Of Grace McGill that I simply had to read it for myself. CS Robertson is a fantastically talented writer and I felt I was transported almost immediately to the locations both in Glasgow and Rothesay that the author takes us to. The author clearly knows these places really well and describes them in precise detail for us. I also loved the way he observes the lonely lives of the people whose homes Grace cleans.

Our protagonist is Grace McGill, who herself seems to live quite an isolated life. She's a fascinating character and I loved trying to get under her skin to work out what really made her tick. I wouldn't say she was immediately likeable but there were a few points in the novel where I felt able to sympathise with her.

In terms of the plot, The Undiscovered Deaths Of Grace McGill begins as a slow burner, but nevertheless, I remained intrigued as to what would happen next. The story does burst into life part way through and this is where the writing really comes into its own. There are twists and tension and I felt I just had to keep turning the pages!

I've never read anything by this author before but that definitely needs to change!

It took me a little while to get into this one and I found it a bit slow to start…but then things changed suddenly and I couldn’t put it down. I had the feeling that something was coming but not what eventually happened.

A solid read. This one has been on my pile for a little while and recommended adding it to yours.

Grace McGill is a cleaner, but a slightly unusual cleaner, as she specialises in cleaning houses where people have passed away and lain undiscovered for a period of time. Additional work is required to clean these homes of biohazards and ensure that they’re safe to live in again, which is what Grace specialises in. It appears to be quite a lonely life, but Grace carries on, until she starts to notice a common thread through the homes that she is attending.

Coincidences and questions start to pile up for Grace, as she starts to question if there is a common link between the people that are passing away, and whether or not there are any extenuating circumstances? Grace starts to investigate, but will she be able to find a link to the past that can explain what is going on? And is her own life under threat?

I found the premise of this book quite intriguing, as Grace gets more and more involved in the lives of the people who have inhabited the homes that she is hired to clean, stumbling upon a mystery that she then sets to investigate. It is a well paced, interesting story, and I liked that it wasn’t predictable - I feel like it almost started as one story, then took a sharp turn that I wasn’t expecting! I also really enjoy stories that are set in places that are familiar to me, and I found Glasgow very recognisable, to the point of googling some of the buildings mentioned to look at some of their specific features.

I enjoyed this book and would definitely read others by this author, I thought it was interesting and trying to do something different within the genre.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I found this to be an odd triller, quite interesting and twisty but it occasionally lost pace as the story unfolded.
