I’ll be honest I’ve read books by this author before abs I’ve always enjoyed them and this didn’t disappoint. A lovely read which would be good for a Book Club read. Well written.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love this authors books and this one was absolutely brilliant as always and was totally different to this authors other books I have read as is a standalone novel about how Hester comes to be in Jakes life through her work as a travel agent. This is so much more than just a love story and covers a lot of deep issues that are written in a very sensitive way. This story is pure escapism and once I had started reading it I couldn’t put it down and felt completely invested in the characters and was feeling like I was in their story with them. The story has a clever plot that is original and unique and really draws you in.

Utter perfection. With witty one-liners, real characters, and an imaginative premise, The Staycation is a total gem of a book that takes you on an adventure from the comfort of your sofa. I absolutely loved it.

I was very much in need of a warm, uplifting and generally lovely read and this did not disappoint. A great idea, a wonderful cast of characters and exactly the feel-good vibe I was after.

4.5 stars
This is the first book that I've read by Cressida McLaughlin but it certainly won't be my last.
I really enjoyed the concept and the way in which the story progressed and evolved.
Hester and Jake were definitely a couple that I could get behind and root for. I also adored all of their staycation trips and completely agree with Hester about the magic and transformative power of fairy lights.
Even though I had an idea that they would end up being together by the end, I wasn't expecting the twists and turns that it took and the resolution in the end.
Given the current circumstances, it was nice to imagine jetting off to these exciting destinations and even having Edinburgh (a city that I visit all the time) and New York (my favourite city in the world) feature.
I also liked that it wasn't all about the romance between Hester and Jake. We saw her overcome her fear, how she got on at work and her interacting with supportive friends and family.
Rosalie was a fabulous character as well. I would love to hear all about her escapades in another book or story.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very cute concept and a different type of romantic reader than the typical hate to love troupe which could get quite tiresome. Really enjoyed the creativity behind this one

Thanks to her fear of flying, she hasn’t been on a plane in years. Now Hester wants to make a good impression on her newest client, Jake Oakenfield, who was heroically injured saving an old lady, and is now laid up in a luxury hotel.

For Jake, unable to return to New York, binge watching Netflix just won’t do. He wants Hester to invent the ultimate escape and re-create her most magical holidays abroad from the confines of his hotel room.

As their perfect mini-breaks around the globe take on a life of their own, Hester wonders if her world of make-believe is all starting to feel just a little too real…

It was a lovely written story, I didn’t know it was about Covid. The relationship between Hester and Jake was good to see unfold. A really good read and I am sure will be enjoyed by all.

I have enjoyed this author’s previous books and was looking forward to reading this one.

Hester, a travel agent who is terrified of flying. Jake, a coffee connoisseur who is stuck in London after an accident. When Hester is tasked with creating out of the world holidays for Jake, she lets her vivid imagination and her friends' memories of their travels do the job for her. That is until things between them begin to cross a line and then Hester has to reveal all to Jake.

A delightful dose of escapism which was an easy and enjoyable read.

Although quite a new reader of Cressida McLaughlin’s books, I’ve quickly grown to love her sense of humour and how funny her books are. This book is no exception as Hester and Jake find themselves in plenty of funny situations.

Something I really loved about this book was the setting. Between London and Jake’s posh hotel it was all a bit different. Then, there was the beautiful Norfolk I know and love as I live there myself. I didn’t realise this is also where the author lives but it shows in her descriptions.

Hester and Jake are great characters together and something I really appreciated was that they were both quite normal in a sense. I was able to relate to both of them and they seemed like actual, real people that I could meet myself.

I read this one in a day and could not put it down.

Hot dude Jake Oakenfield has been hit by a car while saving a rich old lady, now he is stranded in London (a city he hates) while he recuperates in a fancy hotel paid for by the fancy old lady. His sister wants to buy him a holiday for after he gets better this is where Hester Monday comes in. She’s a fancy travel agent and she’s there to organise Jake’s fancy dream holiday but the ungrateful sod doesn’t want it. What he wants is for Hester to recreate her favourite holidays in his hotel room. Trouble is Hester hasn’t been on a plane since she was 12 after a traumatic insistent so let the lying commence!
This was really good I enjoyed it a lot and it was hotter than expected. There was some swears and everything. I liked Hester, I liked Jake and the secondary characters were all people I wanted to know more about. Especially Rosalie, what a babe. And Amber who is absolutely right when she say “handsome, dark and slightly damaged” sounds perfect. She’s not wrong.

A Guilty Pleasure…
A warm and fuzzy romcom to whisk the reader away for some glorious armchair travel with Hester as she recreates some holiday magic for a client from the comfort of a luxury hotel. Will it stay make believe? Or is the magic beginning to feel like it’s way closer to home? A lovely slice of escapism which reads like a guilty pleasure.

Wow the tittle just threw you. No mention of covid. A beautiful love story. Set between a travel agent who never went any where and a jet setter coffee man. It was brilliant. Secrets came out and things that happen in your childhood stay with you a long time. Nice twists. A must read

I loved it. There’s so much of what I’ve loved about Cressida’s other books in this. I loved main characters and the romance that developed between them.I loved visiting the different places the characters went to (even if just virtually). I loved the food. The secondary characters were also brilliant. The dialogue was fun and by the end I was absolutely rooting for Hester and Jake as a couple.

A brilliant read which I devoured in one sitting as I didn’t want to put it down.
