I enjoyed this book which is part of the Kate Marshall, investigator series. Having read the first two books I was excited to receive this review copy from NetGalley.
Kate and her assistant, Tristran, have set set up their own investigation business but they are short on cases so Tristran is still working part time at the University.
When they are asked to look into the 13 year old case of the disappearance of a young reporter by her mother who is desperate for closure, they jump at the chance.
As they start to investigate they gradually begin to see links to other missing person cases in the area and wonder what story the young journalist was working on and whether this led to her disappearance.
This was a fast moving thriller which entertained me over the course of a few days. Kate and Tristan are interesting characters who work well together. There were several suspects and many witnesses to interview so the denouement, when it came, was for me totally unexpected.
Enjoyable and entertaining!

This book is 3rd in the Kate Marshall PI series. This is a wonderful addition to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.
I definitely recommend reading this series in order for best enjoyment.

Another great entry to the Kate Marshall series, this book was exciting and tense and kept you guessing until the shocking conclusion. Great twists and turns, a real thrill of a read!

Absolutely brilliant, I just couldn’t stop reading. A young investigative journalist, Joanna Duncan, disappeared off the face of the earth 12 years ago, not long after exposing the underhand dealings of a local politician. Her mother is unable to let the past lie and hires the newly formed PI agency to find out what happened to her beloved daughter. As Kate and Tristan follow earlier leads and reinterview witnesses they uncover a sinister connection to two young men who also disappeared. With the spectre of a possible serial killer hanging over them Kate and Tristan move ever closer to danger. A thrilling, terrifying story which had me gripped from the start.

Darkness Falls is the third in the Kate Marshall series. It’s another smash hit with twisty plots and a denouement you won’t see coming. I would say this latest instalment comprises deeply layered police procedural and a lot of detail, which tends to give it a more leisurely pace than the first two in the series. A mixed cast of characters makes it complex and there will be plenty of rabbit trails to get lost in.

Written mainly in dual points of view, I particularly enjoyed the antagonist chapters which maintained the essential foreboding necessary to make this an unputdownable read. It takes great skill to hook readers and Bryndza does it every time.

Stubborn Joanna Duncan, a journalist for the West Country News, disappears on 7th September. But since nobody just vanishes, the case is as frustrating for the original investigators as it is for her mother and the public. As we race back twelve years, the first chapter reveals a stalker, watching as she strides through the rain to her blue Ford Sierra, parked in the Deansgate multistory car park in Exeter — a quarter of a mile from the newspaper offices. What cases was she covering at the time? Had she exposed something far more sinister than a political scandal?

The car park may be the last known sighting for Joanna Duncan, but someone knows where she is. As the case goes irritatingly cold, the victim’s mother refuses to let go. Enter Kate and Tristan thirteen years later, whose energy and expertise enable them to jump on the files and find something the original investigators might have missed. Hints woven throughout the prose make it impossible to work out the ending. With diverse characters and subplots, you can’t help but devour this book in one sitting. The locations are familiar and I enjoyed following the characters in their fledgling PI agency. I thoroughly enjoyed this new edition to the series, and the new team which is Kate and Trisan.

This has got to be Roberts best book ever. But then I say that about everyone I read! They just keep getting better. We’re back with Kate and Tristan and their Private Investigation company. Bev asks them to find out what happened to her daughter many years ago. She was an investigative journalist and may have been working on an explosive story She vanished without a trace. Only her mobile phone was found under her car in a run down car park. I love the way the pieces gradually come together. As I was reading it it was like a light bulb came in in my mind and I knew who’d done it! Couldn’t fault it. More please
