This is a light-hearted, hilarious look at modern parenting and especially that of a teenager & toddlers. If you know of Mammy banter on tiktok and Instagram this book is written exactly in her style of talking and it's chaotic, crazy, fun & intense but with a big heart! Yes, there's some repetition and predictable situations, but if you want a fun read you can pick up and put down whenever suits then this is great for that

This was such a fun, heart-warming and relatable read. We meet Tara your average 30-something mother of three living in Derry who is trying to get by with her demon children, dismissive boss and declining self-confidence. It was so relatable to go on Tara's journey to try and find herself again and deal with the trials and tribulations of every day life. There were so many points reading this book where I laughed out loud and had to pause reading as I was laughing too much to continue. I really loved reading this and hope this will be the first in a series!

Everything you need to know about parenthood but were rightly too frightened to ask about.

There are books which tell prospective parents how to bring up infants, and there are books which purport to tell actual parents how to cope with a teenager. This is a novel, set in Londonderry, which does a good job of conveying what it’s like when unplanned parenthood leads to a mid-thirties couple having to do both things at the same time. It’s a warts and all comic account, but it’s not all wart and, unusually for someone telling the story from a woman’s point of view, the device the author uses is a husband who gets things right even when his wife somewhat unilaterally realigns her life (and his) in a chaotic manner. The author presents some convincing examples of men being bastards, but her message is not “all men are bastards” and she’s courteous enough to offer a realistic depiction of one who isn’t.

I follow Serena on social media and I absolutely love her content. She is very authentic which I love and the content is really relatable for everyone, often having me in stitches. I was therefore keen to read her book. It pains me to say, that authenticity and humour didn't translate to paper in the same way for me. It's a very simple book, super easy read, but the characters don't hold much depth and i felt the themes were laid on a bit too think, getting repetitive at times. Granted, if you are just looking for something easy, then this is the one. I imagine it will appeal to mums who will relate most with the main character.

This book is jammed full of laughs and moments most mums have been through even if they don’t readily admit to it.

Young mum Tara is happily married and has a teenage daughter and two young sons aged 5 and 2. She is generally happy with her life but sometimes feels she is taken for granted. She wants to be the cool mammy and best wife while somehow not losing her own identity. I loved her as a character, down to earth and loveable.

Definitely a book which will make you smile and although at times I felt it could be a bit repetitive I did overall really enjoy Tara’s story. The local dialect and phrases added to the enjoyment for me. Not only is the author a TikTok and Instagram success but this book proves she can write a highly entertaining and enjoyable book as well .

Absolute corker of a book. I laughed, I cried and I felt sorry for Tara in equal measure.

I couldn't and wouldn't put this book down. The trials and tribulations of being a mother, a wife, a friend, a colleague and more.

Having seen family and friends go through some tough stuff with their kids I can relate to Tara from and outsider perspective. The thing of you never know what someone is going through so be nice to everyone should be thought by everyone.

Not only is she battling with her teenage daughter and two little boys she is also fighting her way to the top in work, with some difficulty.

I have genuinely not laughed so much read a book in ages. If you need a giggle but also want a book that's a bit meaty in content, this is the one for you.. Read it, you won't regret it.

A really enjoyable light hearted book that most "Mammies" can relate to. Laugh out loud and tug on your heart string moments in the book. Really enjoyed it.

I'm not on Tiktok so I hadn't heard of this author before but being and uncool mum myself, I'm always up for a distraction. A really light hearted and easy book to get stuck into, I had laugh out loud moments throughout.

I see this being a huge hit and look forward to seeing more in the future.

I don't give spoilers on any reviews but I would recommend this, you also don't have to be a parent to appreciate it, parenting just adds to the chaotic madness ❤️

This is a wonderful, heartwarming coming of age book. It focuses on a young mum, Tara, who has a 13 year old daughter, and 2 young sons aged 5 & 2, and a husband she adores.

Tara is starting to feel her age, is surrounded by younger female counterparts at work and is worrying that she is no longer the woman her husband married. He tries on many occasions to persuade her this is not the case, but she can't quite believe him.

She tries desperately to be the cool mammy for her daughter, but ends up embarrassing her on so many occasions, even with a video that goes viral. It seems Tara can do nothing right. She tries a new hairstyle(pink!), new clothes, and even joins the gym.

There are many moments when you want to hide your face in your hands, but persevere as this is a wonderful book, as we get to see Tara accept herself, become comfortable in her own skin, and as a result, her family life and relationship with her daughter improves exponentially.

I could definitely do with having a friend like Tara and the Rebel Mum's Club!

Lovely, uplifting, funny take on motherhood by Serena Terry. I’m a massive fan of her MammyBanter social media posts so just knew this would be funny but happy to confirm her talents run to novel writing as well. At times it felt like there were a lot of words, sentences just a touch too long winded, but the the sheer joy and relate ability of her writing makes it an easy read nonetheless.

I'd never heard of this author before reading this book and didn't realise she was a tiktok star. Instead I was drawn to the book because of the theme of the book. I love a book written around family life with young children, especially a book written as this one was. A funny, don't take yourself too seriously look at parenthood and everything that encompasses. It's the type of book you can sit and read and think 'yeah, I've been in that situation'.

If you have young children this is a light hearted book I think you will enjoy. You will relate to some of the stories in this book, of mothers trying to juggle motherhood, marriage and a job whilst also trying to find a little bit of time for themselves.

Absolutely hysterically funny, and totally relatable for any stressed mother. Just brilliant, and I hope there's more where this came from

Wow!!!!!! This is by far the best book I’ve read in a long long time. As I’m from n ireland reading this book ( may I add in a Derry accent) is just exactly how it is how we talk how we function the whole nine yards, this was written warts and all.
Tara is going through a wee bad time of it and her escapades are hilarious from her wains (kids) to her job, friends. I laughed so much in reading this and am hoping that Serena writes a follow up for more adventures of Tara, Paul and the wains.
Definitely a recommended book that’s guaranteed to make you smile and a few hearty belly laughs as well. Can’t praise this book high enough.
