This is a very useful book for anyone trying (and failing) to keep a cactus or succulent alive. It gives practical tips and advice on how best to make use of your living space, where to put the plants, how to take care of them. This book also focuses on the benefits of having a plant, on how this can improve both your mental and physical wellbeing. I loved leafing through this book trying to see what I could to to improve the lives of my roommates (mostly succultenst, and one cactus). I also appreciated that all most of the photos that show succulents(/cacti actually give their names as well! That can be a bit difficult to find out sometimes.
To finish off - go buy this book if you are interested in having a gorgeous plant in your life.

I would like to thank the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this eBook.

As an aspiring gardener, Hi Cacti by Sabrina Palermo was such a wonderfully detailed book on indoor plants. I wholeheartedly agree with the author's views on the benefits of plants and the mindfulness that gardening brings along. The illustrations were nicely done and this would make a wonderful gift to someone looking for a new hobby. Hopefully, I will be successful with String of Pearls this time around.

I recently moved in a new apartment and I’m at the ‘decoration’ stage, so this book was perfect for me!
I don’t have a green thumb and i always feel overwhelmed when i look up plants’ care online.
This book explains very clearly how to take care of some specific (and absolutely beautiful) plants. It also shares benefits, decorations you can make and even some drinks you can make from your plants!
If you are looking for an ‘easy to care’ plant you should definitely pick up this book!

Like a lot of people during lockdown my collection of houseplants grew to a whole family of them and I collected quite a few books about them along the way.

Hi Cacti is definitely a standout to other books I have picked up. With lots of useful information, it is straight to the point and informative whilst also providing illustration's to assist. It will be a book you come back and reference to for all things house plants and a good all rounder. I also enjoyed the different chapters with more of a creative side - Plant Shelfies, food and drink recipes, crafts and even lotions and potions.

I will be picking up a copy of this to keep in my collection and definitely would purchase for friends who also have a love for plants.

I didn't learn anything new about plants. I also didn't appreciate the out dated names for quite a few of the plants. Dumb cane, for instance, is steeped in racism and the author should have known the history of the name before writing a book about plants. Another is Swiss Cheese Plant, which is a term for a Monstera Adansonii, that no one uses anymore. I also thought the recipes were a weird addition to a plant care book.

This is a cute book that was around 3.5 stars for me!

Palermo breaks down how plant care is self care and the importance of connecting with nature. The book is full of inspirational quotes about nature and the outdoors as well. I appreciate that Palermo lists common house plants and provides information about them, noting that the house plants that are best for you depend on your indoor climate and what you're looking for in plants. Palermo also shares her experiences with house plants and how they fit into her life.

It's a cute read about plants and incorporating them into your life.

Pros: I've requested many books from Quarto Publishing Group on NetGalley because the covers are so bright and cheerful. Until now, all of the books have been children's books, so I was thrilled to see a book for adults. My friends and I could be categorized as plant ladies, so I especially enjoyed reading this book and learning about new-to-me types of house plants. I am a big believer that houseplants positively impact the home, and I loved how the author put this idea into words in this book. There is also a lot of great practical advice in this book for caring for houseplants and finding the right houseplants for your space. I wasn't expecting the sections on plant projects or plant eats and drinks, so those were fun bonuses to come upon when reading.

Cons: Some might find parts of this book a little too woo-woo (I don't see myself singing to my plants), but for the right readers, this will be the right book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Ivy Press, Leaping Hare Press for the opportunity to read this book!

If you have the Black Thumb of Death like me, this book is exactly what you need. Hi Cacti offers not only a long list of beginner-friendly plants, but also tips for pet-owners and suggestions for how to create and stick to a plant-care routine, delicious-looking cactus recipes, instructions for making your own macrame plant pot holders and much more. Throughout the book, Sabina Palermo really drives home the idea that caring for plants is not something that is or should be stressful and frustrating but rather a spiritually enriching, meditative, joy-inducing experience and one that can be shared with friends and family.

As someone who's killed 99% of all the plants she's ever owned, simple advice like that for watering and light needs or hacks to make use of if you overwater or have pests will come in very handy.

Needless to say, I've written down a list and I'm getting some new plants ASAP. (I will, however, try not to rush and start making my own concrete pots and macrame plant pot holder just yet.)

Huge thank you to NetGalley, Sabina Palermo and Quarto Publishing Group – Ivy Press for the advanced reader copy.

The author of this book is such an advocate for the benefits of having houseplants. In her casual style, she includes a great deal of information for those who want to add some green to their indoor spaces. She genuinely believes that doing this will add happiness to lives. I think that she is right.

Following the introduction, readers will find photos and information on many houseplants, projects and more. For example there are the Heart-Leaf Rhododendron and the Candelabra Aloe. The plants are organized by groups. I especially liked that there was one of plants that are pet friendly.

I currently have an octet of houseplants. I loved being able to nurture something and watch it grow while I was coping with our covid world. If you would like to add some plants to your home, give this title a look. It will be worth your while.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
