I absolutely loved this book. Such a clever concept and so very well executed. I love a love story that isn’t a conventional love story and this very much fit the bill.

I adored Bee and Nick and Rosie and Leila. Every time I got the chance to read this book I just gobbled it up. It read so very well and Sarah Lotz is an absolutely fantastic writer.

This book truly made me smile, thank you Sarah Lotz for this wonderful, heartwarming read.

Quirky and unusual novel, very original. Interesting characters and a different spin on the classic love story. Would recommend to friends.

I love being given the opportunity to update our school library which is a unique space for both senior students and staff to access high quality literature. This is definitely a must-buy. It kept me absolutely gripped from cover to cover and is exactly the kind of read that just flies off the shelves. It has exactly the right combination of credible characters and a compelling plot thatI just could not put down. This is a great read that I couldn't stop thinking about and it made for a hugely satisfying read. I'm definitely going to order a copy and think it will immediately become a popular addition to our fiction shelves. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

A wonderful story about 2 characters coming together in one of the most original 'romances' I have read in years.
Wonderfully written, lovely characters and a story line and plot that's wonderfully original, entertaining, fun and thoughtful.
Have already been recommending this book to lots of people and have added it to our my book club read list, even thought I've already read it!

This book was phenomenal!

The introduction to Nick and Bee started out like any typical romance novel. You know what I mean, a silly misunderstanding throwing two people together. But let me just tell you, this book is so different and I absolutely loved the story. The way it was written as email exchanges throughout was an interesting concept, which worked well for the story.

There are some heavy topics covered, but they are handled tactfully, for the most part.

The ending blew me away and I did feel a little emotional at the end. What a story!

When a mistyped email address connects Bee with Nick, and unlikely romance ensues, all conducted via emails. But when the pair arrange to meet up, something very strange occurs.

Impossible is an enjoyable story, as long as you’re happy not to delve too deeply into the ‘how’ of the plot. Here are times when this is easier than others, but overall it’s an entertaining enough romance, with a twist to keep it fresh.

4.5 stars rounded up.

I originally requested Impossible on the bright orange cover as it really grabbed my attention. Therefore I went into reading this blind, I knew nothing of the plot or genre which in hindsight is a good thing as sci-fi isn’t something I usually read. I was pleasantly surprised and couldn’t put it down!

It is such an original story with a great twist. Bee and Nick’s relationship was truly impossible.

I got very quickly caught up in this unusual book, but it did drag on a bit too long in the middle, and the constant repetition of the two characters'' email addresses at the top of every message felt unnecessary and annoying. But as a love story it hit the mark. Finding each other virtually and by chance, developing a real bond but knowing they can never meet... it did get a bit complicated following the two stories and the two worlds at times, and parts were so far fetched as to be almost ridiculous, but something about it worked, and although the ending was quite abrupt it teased enough to give hope. As books go, this is certainly different!

Nick and Bee are suddenly thrown together when his email to a defaulting client lands in her inbox. Amused at being called a 'tweedy twat' she fires off a witty reply. An irresistible chemistry kicks off between them and they begin to riff one-liners over the ether. Romance is in the air, but the extent of the problems the loved-up pair face becomes clear when they arrange to meet. That is when the reader realises the dilemma of these star-crossed lovers is insurmountable.

The story is mainly told in dual first-person narratives. Bee is working all hours to build up her dressmaking business and Nick is freelancing as a literary editor. Both of them are lonely and open to a relationship, but through no fault of their own, unimaginable difficulties stand in the way of their live affair. Fortunately the nature of their problem allows plenty of scope for humour, and dryly funny email exchanges between the lovestruck couple emphasise their longing to be together.

There is a strong moral vibe in Impossible, because Bee and Nick share an awareness of red lines. Serious issues such as suicide and the climate emergency are discussed, but the author's excellent writing keeps the tone light. Characters like incompetent investigator Geoffrey, grumpy pensioner Lily and Nick's landlady Erika provide lots of laughs, and the throwaway lines are hilarious. For example, Nick's new digs are '....a study in flat-pack Scandinavian discomfort'. But in the end, it is the way Nick and Bee spark off each other which creates the humour in this very enjoyable novel. I loved their positive attitudes. As Bee says, '....hope floats'.

3.5 ⭐️

‘I could see her thinking, You can’t form a connection that strong with someone online. Which was bollocks. It happened to thousands of people every day.’

This one had been on my radar out of sheer FOMO - it was everywhere when it was published and I wanted in 😂 Even though I wasn’t sure it would be my cup of tea, I needed to read it.

It started off amazing, I was totally caught up in this witty banter and fun correspondence between Bee and Nick. Then we got to about 20% in we got the twist, I hadn’t read into it too much so I didn’t know this was going to happen. If I’m honest, it wasn’t the usual type Of twist I’d like. But surprisingly didn't
completely put me off & I still managed
to enjoy the read.

The plot was clever, weird and really quite sweet. There’s a real eclectic mix of characters in this book, ranging from the hilarious to the downright bizarre - it added such an interesting layer to the story.

The humour was dry and witty - which I loved. There were some really funny moments that made the read for me. I liked the airy and fun feel to what could have been quite a sad premise.

It was a really easy read and I flew through it. I loved the little bit at the end too very cute. I’d recommend it to fans of the genre and will look out for more of Lotz’ work in the future.

I liked the unique premise of the book, the beginning was good but I failed to engage with the characters or narrative. Fans of time travel type love stories will enjoy it but it was not for me.

A twisting tale told through an email exchange, with funny and thought-provoking events but clearly a love story at its heart.

Nick and Bee start emailing by chance, but soon their daily updates become the highlight of both of their lives and they look forward to the next message to ping.
But something about their situation is … as the title suggests… impossible!

I enjoyed this book, it felt modern and fresh while being the sort of irreverent fun that reminds me of the mid-late 2000s and the media of the time.
If I were to make a film version of Impossible, which I’d love to see, I’d make it in the vein of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost like Hot Fuzz/Sean of the Dead style.
In fact, the motley crew members of the Berenstain Society gave me that kind of suburban busybody vibe and I kept imagining a screen adaptation.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Nick: Failed writer. Failed husband. Dog owner.
Bee: Serial dater. Dress maker. Pringles enthusiast.
One day, their paths cross over a misdirected email. The connection is instant, electric. They feel like they've known each other all their lives.
Nick buys a new suit, gets on a train. Bee steps away from her desk, sets off to meet him under the clock at Euston station.
Think you know how the rest of the story goes? They did too.
But this is a story with more twists than most. This is Impossible.

I went into this blind and would suggest you do the same, so don't want to say too much and give away any spoilers but thought this was a really original and unexpected read.

The two main characters are very likeable so you find yourself rooting for them right from the beginning. I really enjoyed the witty banter that passed between them in their emails to each other and could totally feel the chemistry building.

Impossible by Sarah Lotz is a very original love story.
But I found this book a bit too long. I struggled to enjoy the second half of the book.
Thanks to Netgalley and to HarperCollins UK for this ARC in exchange for an honest review
