Nice book to read. Not the most exciting I’ve ever read. I’m not keen on books that go back and forth between characters. It puts me off and I lose track of who’s who. Was quite realistic though and had the makings of being a better read

An engaging story with perceptive observations. I found the storyline engaging and enjoyed the read. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

The beginning of this book was so good but unfortunately that standard wasn’t maintained.
I felt that the pacing was off and also the writing was inconsistent.
A disappointment

Rachel Saunders knows that living in West Burntridge, that it is impossible to keep a secret as everybody knows everyone's business.

Rachel knows gossip is the price you pay for a rural lifestyle and outstanding schools. The latest town scandal is her divorce - and the fact that her new girlfriend Erin has moved into the family home. This has sent shock waves through the usually conservative town and is destroying her relationship with her eldest daughter Maia.

When the local school introduces a new LGBTQ+ curriculum, Rachel and Laura find themselves on opposite sides of a fearsome debate.

This had all the magic ingredients for me, gossip, nosiness, rumours, lies which made this into a gripping read that I could not put down.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

I fancied a bit of a change of genre and so glad I gave this one a go. A great read with short chapters but also unputdownable. It kept my attention throughout which is the mark of a well written novel.

Once I started this book I couldn't stop.
I loved the short chapters, and how we heard from all the main characters, it made the book flow nicely.
The plot behind the book was unique compared to other stories and keep me intrigued to find out what happens

The book has left me with many questions wanting to know more and this is a good thing

A novel that gets to the heartof so many subjects including homophobia, abuse, families and of course the PTA. I can't really say I liked any of the characters but that's what makes it so addictive. It's a hard hitting book which doesn't let go. It's almost like you are living in this small village which speaks volumes about the writing. I would highly recommend this book. I had read The Home by Sarah Stovell and really enjoyed it so was interested to read another by her. She did not disappoint.

I raced through this book in just a few sittings. Set in a small town we meet the families who are all keeping their own secrets and who should look closer to home before judging others.

I had problems when trying to find this book on my kindle, after being accepted for an ARC copy.
The book sounded so good, really funny ……, so I bought a copy of it.
I have read funny books before, based around funny parental things we can relate to.
I’m not sure it was what I expected. 🤔🤔

We all know the pressure of the school gates. It's a community of its own and this is well captured in Other Parents. I found the characters really believable and the interaction between the different stories made for a great little read. Thanks to Sarah Stovell, the publishers and Netgalley for the ARC.

A keenly observed suburban drama, set around a school in a small town outside Newcastle. The characters come from all walks of life and are all facing their various challenges as best they can.

Little do they know the secrets they hide or how interconnected their troubles will turn out to be

Wry and emotional, covering a number of difficult themes, including sexual violence.

Other parents is set around a school. There’s the headteacher with a wayward son, Laura the single mum who is just trying to make ends meet with a son who has some additional needs, Rachel the high flying mum who has just left her husband for a woman and Maia her teenage daughter who is struggling to cope with the changes.

I really enjoyed this gritty book - it’s got some very difficult themes to it and I felt like it was dealt with sensitively and very well. It goes to prove that no parent is perfect and nobody has the perfect life no matter what everyone else thinks of you. I loved how all the storylines were intertwined too and I struggled to put this one down. This was my first book by this author but I’d definitely read more.

Other Parents is full of great female characters who are all doing their best for their kids. I felt the pain of these strong women, all of whom are good enough parents and the judgment they get. This book is very well written and tugged at my heartstrings. I know some reviews have compared Other Parents to Liane Moriarty. Other Parents felt a lot more nuanced.

I was looking for something different to read when I read this and I'm so glad I did. Enjoyed from the start

Such a good book that every parent reader would find at least one character - if not many more - that they felt they could either recognise or relate to. If nothing else, it is reassuring to see that the reader's is not the only family with its mix of trials and tribulations and you can't help but find something worthwhile in every character.

This was one of those books that had me from the start. Told from the perspective of the women at the centre of the school plaground politics. There are very funny moments that make you laugh and cringe and some gripping, sad moments that make you feel so sorry for the characters. I really enjoyed reading this, and as a mother of a school aged child I really understood the difficulties of navigating the parent cliques. A really great read that I would throughly recommend to all my mum friends

I loved Laura and Max, having been party to playground politics I can empathise! a very very well written book that captures you right from the First page, some delicious twists and some gorgeous and some hideous characters. Really enjoyed it, it kept me extremely on edge until the end.
