Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a copy of this book to review!

This was a really great and educational read for people of all ages. Geckos are one of my absolute favorite animals so I knew that I had to read this book when I saw it. I hope that the author writes more books like this one!

This was adorable! And just a super fun way to help kids (and adults) learn some facts. It would make fo a quick bedtime story. Loved the illustrations as well!

This is a fun children's book about the fact that Geckos cannot blink, and instead, they lick their own eyeballs in order to clean them and moisturise them. My daughter found this hilarious and she had a lot of fun going through the book, reading the other funny, educational and interesting facts about Geckos.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Geckos Don't Blink by Kelly Tills is currently scheduled for release on November 2 2021. In this light-hearted book, learn how geckos sneeze and sleep without ever closing their eyes. See all the groovy colors geckos can see at night with their powerful eyes. Enjoy hearing your child shout out the answers to silly questions like "Can a gecko wink when it tells a good joke?" This call and response format is a time-tested method for keeping kids engaged and interacting, instead of just chewing on the pages.

Geckos Don't Blink is a cute and entertaining nonfiction picturebook. While I knew most of the information provided, I do think it will be new to the target audience. I found the phrasing of chosen information, and the delightful illustrations, work together well to capture and hold the attention of the youngest readers. I also like the framing of the book, and series as a whole, that everyone and everything has something weird and wonderful about them.

This is a fun book that explains why geckos don't blink. This book provides animal facts with a dose of humor that entertained my six year old daughter. She was able to read this without difficulty. Looking forward to reading more from this amusing series.

Thank you Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read this book.

This edition of the Awesome Animals series is delightful. The facts are interesting to the reader as well as the listener. My grandson is going to love it just like he did the author's other books. This proves learning can be fun!

Can a gecko blink? No! They lick their eyes clean. In this light-hearted book, learn how geckos sneeze and sleep without ever closing their eyes. Awesome Animals is a children’s non-fiction series. It explores the animal kingdom to gently introduce our little ones to body diversity. Each book features an animal which is missing something that we're taught to expect should be there. But these animals don’t just thrive despite that absence, they thrive because of it.The Awesome Animals series uses a dyslexia-friendly type-face. With dyslexia, we often focus on the challenges - difficulty reading. But thanks to the way the dyslexic brain is built, people with dyslexia are often creative, intuitive and highly successful. In other words, those people aren't thriving despite their dyslexic brain, they are thriving because of it.
🌞😃MY REVIEW 🌞😃
I used to scroll netgalley looking for new kids books to read jojo since she can't get enough of books now. Now she scrolls down the kids section and picks the ones she wants me to read her. This book really caught her attention right away. She was so excited when we got approved to read it and wanted to start it right away. There was no waiting til bedtime. She was very excited to learn that this is part of a very awesome animal series. In each book the kids learn how each animal has something very special about its body. All of the pages are brightly colored and very cool. She loved looking at the pictures as much as she enjoyed the story. I loved hearing her giggle and answer some of the questions in the book. Each page is short and very entertaining . Pawpaw and i enjoyed the story as much as the girls did. Since downloading the book we have now read it 18 times. Jojo is 4 and Zoey is 6. Both enjoyed it very much. Children and adults alike will enjoy this great book filled with colorful illustrations and laughs galore ! It is a really great thought-provoking read. They learn and have fun doing it. I will be recommending this series to Zoeys teacher. Some of the other books in this series are :
*Snakes Have No Legs
*Pigs Never Sweat
*Cows Have No Top Teeth
*Turtles Have Hidden Ears

Many thanks to the Publisher, Author , and NetGalley for a ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I think this is the cutest book ever. I really love it. It's got a sense of humor in an unexpected way, and it helps kids and adults learn a really cool fact. Honestly the only complaint I have is that I wish there were more of them 😂 so I hope that the they write more. Not to mention that I really liked the contrasting of colors for the black and white and multicolor being on the same page. It just looks very cool. For such simple drawings it is eye catching and really draws you in.

Also, this book is great for parents because when they're running short on time because they are getting their kids to bed late, they can still read their child a bedtime story and it's super short and fascinating and fun. ❤️ I genuinely believe kids would go crazy for this book despite how simple and short it is.

Thank you #netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this very cute very funny book in exchange for an honest review

This is another adorable book by Kelly TIlls. Children will love the cute and colourful illustrations and will giggle at the humour. throughout the book. They won't even realize how much they are learning about geckos (and other animals) at the same time. I love how Tills describes something "groovy" about geckos in the beginning of the book, to asking what is "groovy" about the reader at the end of the book? Another great book for storytime!

I would like to thank #NetGalley and #BooksGoSocial for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book, in exchange for my honest review.

*Technical issue: Some of the words were cut off when I read this book on my Kindle, and I couldn't download it to my laptop without adding a new app.

This is the first to two related books I got for review purposes from Net Galley. They were by the same author, and were two small volumes in a series of short, illustrated children's books about interesting animal facts, which I thought might be fun. The problem was that they both were unreadable.

They came in three reading options. One was the Kindle version, which I knew would be a disaster, but which I sent to my Kindle app anyway, and got exactly what I'd expected. Actually I got less than I expected, because I expected at least to have some images that were sliced, diced, and julienned, which is what Kindle routinely does to anything that's not plain vanilla text. Instead I got completely blank screens! This isn't even the kindling I expected Amazon's crappy, limited, and destructive system to deliver.

Not losing heart, I progressed to one of the two other options Net Galley offered, which was an epub format. Usually there is no problem here, but in this case, it was almost as bad as the Kindle. At least I could see the images for the book's pages, but they were truncated. Normally, if a book runs to two pages, you half-expect it to be chopped up in electronic format, but the other half of the image was not on the next screen - it was gone completely! This meant that sometimes the image had been chopped, but usually it meant that the text had been curtailed and was unreadable because so much of it was missing.

Finally, there was a Net Galley reading app format, which normally is acceptable, but with which I've occasionally had problems. In this case, what I got was exactly the same result I got from the epub version: seriously bowdlerized images and text. Both of these books suffered the same problems. I honestly do not know how a publisher can distribute a book in this condition. Did no one think to check?! I imagine these books were designed from the ground up as print books, but we reviewers still need them to be legible in the electronic version!

Normally I like to positively review children's books if they have any redeeming features at all, but this one had zero. Consequently I have no choice but to declare this book warty to the max!

Cute black & white illustrations on bright backgrounds and sparse text, mixed with strange animal facts, make this book a must for Storytimes.

Geckos Don't Blink has a few facts about other animals, but the focus is on geckos. Facts are presented in a fun "call and answer" format - "Can a gecko close their eyes to sleep? No! They hide their heads to sleep." This would be a huge hit with kids who get to participate in the narrative. Must read for Storytime.

An easy read to enjoy for children, fun but educational and with appealing illustrations. Part of a set about different animals by this author, each one entertaining.

A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's book. It is nonfiction. This book was fun to read, it is cute and informative. Short and factual. Interesting information that kids will love to share with others. 4 stars

It’s not often that children’s picture books teaches me information I hadn’t known. The Awesome Animals series seems to have changed this! We tried both Geckos Don’t Blink and Cows Have No Top Teeth by Kelly Tills.

We started with Geckos Don’t Blink, which discussed different animals and how their eyes work. I was unaware of most of these, and had a great talk with my kids on why they blink. My kids then decided to act the book out, and I was able to watch them excessively blink for about 30 min, and try to lick their own eye. I wish I took pictures!

I’m sorry, I could not get this book to work in the NetGalley app or Kindle. I saw half of a few pages and they looked adorable though. I’m going to rate it four stars to not drag down your ratings and because the peeks I did see looked great. .

What a fun and delightful book about geckos. You get to learn all about why they don't blink, along with how some other animals blink. Great for a younger reader.
