Agent Seventeen has no name - as a hit man he doesn’t really exist any more and at any time his life could be over. Until then, he completes his assignments without question.

Agent Seventeen is a good read, although I’m not a raving fan. At times it was a bit slow and hard going, but enjoyable enough.

Agent 17 is the world's greatest assassin. He's the 17th person to hold that position, and to become that person, he had to kill the person who held it before him, e.g number 16. The only problem is, Agent 17 (our protagonist), didn't kill number 16.

And so starts all the fun and we get assassins, globals plots, you name it. It's all very great fun and is a great read. It's all very preposterous if you think too deeply about it, but hey, no more so than many a blockbuster movie (of which this could well become). Indeed, if this ever gets made into a movie it'll be right up there with the Bourne, Mission Impossible, and Bond franchises, all of which fall apart if you think examine their plots/feasibility too closely.

Good read. Enjoyed getting to know the characters, that were well written and brought to life. Would recommend.

Fascinating cat and mouse style story, intriguing storyline, fluctuating levels of interest. I wouldn’t say gripping but definitely interesting.

The synopsis intrigued me. But sadly this didn't work for me. I found myself bored from the beginning. Which didn't improve at any point. I ended up DNFing at 42%.
The writing felt very slow despite the constant action happening.

One of the most entertaining assassin books I've read..

The characters are well rounded and engaging and I think if you have characters you are invested in, the plot becomes richer.

This book is well worth your time and I would happily read more books with these characters :)

Fast-paced, gripping thriller. Great concept and I really liked the characterisation. IT was clever and kept me hooked all the way through.

I found this book fast paced and mildly humorous at first, but eventually the story began to bore me as it seemed somehow to lose the thread.. I am sorry to say that I did not read quite to the end. The seediness of it all was too depressing when I am reading it in dim dark, December with strikes everywhere and one crisis after another. Sorry about not finishing it

Holy Moly, this book! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! I don’t usually read thriller but this book may have convinced me to read more! I screamed, I threw my book, I cried so all in all a good time!

A great spy Thriller. I did struggle a bit to get into it but once it got going and i got into the writing style I enjoyed the second half of the book.

I enjoyed reading 'Seventeen.' Assassin number Seventeen was given a job to kill someone. Little did he know he would end up meeting Sixteen - who he had taken over from.
Plenty of twists and turns in this book to keep me hooked from beginning to end.

In some ways the storyline reminded me of those recent Keane reeves films about hired assassins .. so there is some degree perhaps of cliche .but a reader might anyway really like that! I suppose I wanted deepe r more colourful characterisations to lift me out of hired-assassin usual story .. in this case he's set upon him self
in devious manner by his target. ... fun but perhaps I've read it already)

Action-packed adventure. Loved the concept - the world's greatest hitman finds himself the target of his own job - and the characters. Sucks you in from the very first page and doesn't let go.

I loved this book. Extremely well written, grabbed me from the very first sentence and did not let go. This book is a real page turner. I will definitely look out for more of his books.

Not my usual read, a fast-paced action thriller, but I enjoyed the ride thoroughly.

The pace took off and never really let down, super heart-pounding action.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC!

If you’re into high speed high octane drama with twists and betrayal, then you’ll love this book. It certainly gets the adrenaline pumping and I was just experiencing it from my sofa! This is a well plotted book with interesting characters and a great satisfying story. Five stars from me!

Seventeen is a aid killer, well paid by his handler to not ask questions and just do the deed by any means possible. All goes well until he is sent to kill the man before him, Sixteen.

How he finds him and what happens then is for you to find out in this fast paced novel. We find out the past and how it relates to the present. Great characters but be warned lots of violence, enjoy.

Seventeen is not my normal type of book and I am not sure why I chose to review it but I did still enjoy it to a certain degree. It was fast paced with plenty of action in what I would describe as a modern day James Bond type of story. It had everything I would expect from this type of book, it just wasn't my favourite due to personal choice.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for my ARC.

Seventeen is an assassin, the best in the world. Most of the other top assassins were killed by their successor, but Seventeen inherited the title from the previous master assassin, Sixteen, who suddenly disappeared one day. No-one knows what happened to him. Seventeen is sent on a mission in Berlin to assassinate a group of corrupt business people, & although the job is a success, he is immediately diverted to retrieve a 'package' which is due to be passed between two people in a public place. Seventeen follows the man who retrieves the 'package' & kills him, but the man desperately keeps saying the word "parachute" to him - he has no idea what it could mean but it disturbs him.

After speaking to Handler, the person who facilitates the jobs for him, Seventeen is given his most challenging mission to date. Handler wants him to find Sixteen & eliminate him. Seventeen knows that if he fails, his position at the top will be insecure & open to challenge, so he reluctantly accepts. He manages to track Sixteen down but the mission doesn't go as planned & Seventeen begins to wonder exactly which of them is the target.

This sounded like a fast-paced action-packed read, but the first half was surprisingly mundane. You have your Ethan Hunt/Jason Bourne-type main character & the narrative is from his point of view, including some chapters which fill in some background information. He's not particularly likeable or unlikeable, just a bit bland. Kat, a young woman he meets, is the usual 'woman who hasn't any training but manages to escape being killed by highly trained professionals'. Somewhere around the 48% mark, I was really beginning to regret not DNF-ing this one, but the author actually pulled it round in the second half of the book, & I ended up being glad I hadn't quit.

If you like action thrillers which don't worry too much about characterisation, you'd probably enjoy this. I rated it 3.5 stars (rounded down) as although the second half was much better than the first, it wasn't quite the pacy, punchy read I was expecting.

My thanks to NetGalley & publishers, Hodder & Stoughton, for the opportunity to read an ARC.
