I'm really sorry, but this was somewhat promising right up until the point where it actually started propagating those dumb conspiration theories about fluoride in the water and whatnot. NO.
I thought this book would just borrow a bit from the conspiration theorists' rhethoric for the plot (like, ironically, or with the goal of subverting them) but now I feel like the author is actually buying into that nonsense.
I'm giving 2 stars because this had potential, it was sufficiently well written and might well work for many people. For me personally, I would have preferred more insights into the emotional impact of events, I felt the writing leaned more towards describing actions, which left me a bit cold and without any connection to the protagonist Diana.
But at least the plot sets up plenty of mysterious events that keep you wondering how things are going to develop.
Oh, and why is the obvious Donald Trump knockoff character being described as surprisingly charismatic and not gross at all despite how he is being portrayed in the media? What?
All in all: too bad, I was looking forward to this one.

This was a solid sci-fi book, one i could really enjoy.
The writing style is amazing, it has really flown effortlessly. Loved the build up of suspense, looking forward to seeing more from the writer!

A solid sci-fi tale. Well-written and well-plotted. Good stuff. I hope this author writes more like this.
Thanks very much for the free review copy!!

My thoughts on this novel are kind of in the middle. I didn't think it was bad, but I didn't think it was great either. I thought the book was very well-written, the author has a clear talent and the story overall was quite good. At the same time, it was hard for me to get through at times and I didn't really connect with the characters. I think there will be plenty of readers who really like this book, but it just wasn't the right fit for me.
