Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the early access of this book!

Not only is it educational going into the proper amount of explanation of what the gender or sexuality of each flag represents but it takes time to acknowledge who created it, when, and what each color means.

This allows the topic of both sexuality and gender to be an open topic between people and will help create a safe space for people to understand more.

This is definitely a must have book for parents and kids alike!

An informative and fun way to teach kids about the different LGBTQIA+ flags. I liked that they included lesser known or talked about flags like the ones for agender, asexuality, or intersex people. I also liked that the colors for each flag were explained and it discussed who created the flags and when.

I literally read this in like 10 minutes. It’s really short, but really informative and fun. It’s accessible to everyone. I loved the illustrations and reading guide in the back. I think it’s very valuable to read this with kids, answer the questions in the back and just talk about LGBTQ+. Would recommend!

Thank you to the publishers for providing me with an eArc in exchange for my honest review!

This is the perfect book for kids and anyone who wants to learn about some of the many pride flags and what they mean.

It doesn't have a whole lot of information, but it has enough for the reader to understand each flag's meaning and then if they want to do further research, they can.

I wish I had a book like this for when I was younger and had no clue about the many different identities and flags. I'm glad that many younger and older people who may be in this boat now can have a book to guide them on the right path.

I hope that this book will be seen in classrooms, in homes, in libraries and in the hands of everyone who wants to support and protect their kids, and want to offer them life in that they are accepted no matter who they are.

This is the perfect book to gift a child or even a parent who may not know a lot about the LGBT+ community.

And of course, the illustrations as such perfect!! It really added to the experience of reading this book!

a perfect introduction to pride flags for all ages! i loved how colorful, inviting and fun this book was to read. children and their caregivers will easily be able to read through and understand not only what the flags represent, but why they're important. i learned a lot about the different colors in flags and their significance while reading this! the art is so bright and happy -- i will for sure be making it a staple of a pride display at the library soon.

I loved the art style in this book! I found it to be a good introduction to the flags and different identities. I even learned a few new things. This is another book that should be in school libraries and classrooms.

Thank you to NetGalley and Jessica Kingsley Publishers for the e-ARC to read and review. This book is a spectacularly-illustrated and visually stunning primer to the history of different pride flags. While it's not exhaustive and by no means a completely in-depth look at all identities, it's ultimately a very good introduction with accessible definitions that works well for its intended age group. Reading an ebook, it's hard to tell if the title "Big Book" is going to mean that it's a large board book, because it's definitely not a 200 page text on flags (nor should it be, just saying).

I find that overall the text is missing nuance and some of the wording feels off, and I'm not sure if it's going too far to be kid-friendly at times. For example, it's great that the colors of each flag were explained in terms of what they're meant to stand for, but I often found it to be either overly literal or explained too simply. For example, for the sake of simplicity, the yellow of the non-binary flag "represents gender outside of the gender binary," but in the transgender flag, "blue is for boys... and pink is for girls." But WHY are those colors chosen and why is pink "for girls," and not historically representative?

This book does what it says on the tin. It is a picture book of pride flags. Each flag has an explanation of who it represents, where it came from, and what the different colours represent. The art is diverse and inclusive. I love the inclusion of visible disabilities, as well as different body types and skin colours. It also features a create your own pride flag colouring activity at the back.

This is a cute book, and a handy reference for the different pride flags. It could also potentially be used as a way of introducing new people to the different parts of the LGBTQ+ community.

This would be a cute addition to anyone's bookshelf.

I really love this book and I adore the art style, but I do wish there were more dark-skinned characters and disabled characters who aren't in wheelchairs in it. It seemed a bit sad seeing the progress pride flag being mentioned but hardly anyone who was actually dark-skinned; it was mostly light-skinned characters. I know and understand that we cannot possibly have EVERYONE represented in just a few pages, but given there was clearly an effort being made, there could have been even more consideration to be inclusive.

That said, I am truly happy that children now have a book that tells them the history of all the flags in our community. It was helpful to even me as an adult, as I have only learned some of the history of just some flags. This was really nice to have!!

This is exactly what this book is - a big book of Pride flags. The drawings are good and each page gives all the pertinent details that someone reading this book would probably be looking for. I feel like this is an important resource for young readers who are searching for information or searching for something that may represent who they are. Fly your flag and be proud!

I really loved this book. I'm gonna be honest, I definitely didn't know all of these flags existed, but with this book it made them very easy to learn about, and understand. You get the history of each pride flag, and a definition on what it means. 10/10 would buy to inform a child of a young age about the different flags. I also think it's important for children to be able to learn about their sexuality from a young age and this book does that.

This was simple and sweet. The illustrations are adorable and this would be a great starter book for kids or anyone or any age wanting to know more about a few of the pride flags. I would love to see this get sequel books to explore more flags that don't get seen as often.

A great primer on an essential topic that is too often blown off as being more complicated than necessary, shown with love and pride in an easy to read and understand way. Belongs on a lot more shelves and will shortly be gracing any that I can add them to.

"The Big Book of Pride Flags" is a perfect introduction to the different flags for young children. Each flag has a short description which explains in simple text what the flag represents. While I understand the desire to keep things simple, I did feel like some of the descriptions could have been worded better or had a bit more information included.

I personally love that the more inclusive versions of flags were included.

The illustrations are gorgeous and I love that there is diverse representation throughout.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me a free digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Links will be updated the week of publication.

This book made my heart feel all kinds of warm. It's a great introduction to the history of pride flags in an informative, fun and imaginative way. It also gave me an idea of everyday items that I can use to display a particular flag. The inclusion of all kinds of people based on race, belief and disability was lovely. It drove home the fact that all kinds of people are queer. I loved the illustrations and they added to my enjoyment of the subject matter. This came to me at the perfect time in my life as I'm planning to consume more queer nonfiction and educate myself this year. I'm grateful this was my introduction to queer flags and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone, it embodies the statement "dynamite comes in small packages"
