This is such a wonderful picture book about the different queer flags! I feel like everyone, and I mean EVERYONE can learn something new about the LGBTQIA+ flags and the queer community thanks to this little book with a big and full of heart message.

In regards to the text itself, I'll say that I found it quite accessible for younger readers, which is fantastic. The different definitions and explanations offered throughout the book are easily understandable and generally inclusive, which is always important, especially in a book that is mostly targeted at kids. I will say that I would adjust some parts of the text to make them even more inclusive, though.

The reading guide was a nice surprise and something that complements the rest of the book really well, in my opinion, inviting the reader to keep learning beyond what they have just read.

As for the illustrations, they were an absolute delight! I feel like they truly reflected how diverse the queer community is by showcasing people from a wide range of backgrounds. The art style was adorable, super colourful and captured the values of the book, so 10/10.

Overall, I think The Big Book of Pride Flags is an incredible, diverse and inclusive picture book that helps educate not only younger readers, but everyone about the LGBTQIA+ community. This is definitely a good starting point to learn more about queer folks and our history, despite some flaws regarding some lack of inclusivity in the text.

This book is a sweet way to introduce kids to pride flags, LGBTQ+ history, and different identities. It's informative and uses language that would be easy for young kids to understand. I think this book could have been more well researched, though. Several of the flags have controversies behind them and have large groups of people asking for them not to be used. (For instance, many people in the intersex community have asked not to be included in the LGBTQ community, and many trans and people of color feel that the progress pride flag is performative, since those groups were always meant to be a part of the community.) Even if those flags were still included, it may have been good to recognize people who don't love the use of them.
Still, I loved the art and diversity in this book.

This is a wonderfully illustrated book showing the different pride flags in all their glory, complete with short descriptions of the origins of each flag and who they represent. I would have liked more detail about the identities they represent, as I know many students in my library who will have more questions than answers, but it's perfect for readers who already have some understanding of LGBTQ+ identities..

I am always looking for new ways to be educated on different topics; especially ones I am included in. This book was fun and easy to read. It makes me so happy that this is what children's books have become- I wish I had this when I was younger.

Short but interesting volume educating about the wide number of pride flags. the clear explanations helped delineate and differentiate each flag and it helped a lot to understand the symbolism behind the colors. I also really enjoyed learning about the history of the original pride flag and I thought it was impressive that the authors included information about the people that create each flag. I'd never heard who created these flags before!

This was really cute. The art is colorful and cheerful and with lots of different representation casually presented alongside the flags. The descriptions were easy to understand but also informative. I actually learned something new myself. In the back there were even some questions and a small task (creating your own pride flag), making it more interactive and engaging for young readers. I just think it's neat. I definitely wish I could've learned about pride as a kid.

The Big Book of Pride Flags is a colorful, and cheerfully illustrated picture book about the first Pride flag, the subsequent modifications, and what they represent. There are frequently perceptions that the current generations are growing up with more knowledge of the symbolism of the flags due to the higher visibility and exposure they experience, but those assumptions may mean they aren't educated on the specifics so this would be a valuable addition to any home, school, or public library..
