Small Gods by Terry Pratchett is the thirteenth book in the fantastic Discworld Novels. These Books are a superb read and a must read for every Young teenaged child up to an adult. I remember reading the Discworld books in order, when I was teenagers (many, many moons ago) lying under my quilt at night time with a ever ready battery powered torch (Now I am showing my age) I could not wait to go to bed to open my Terry Pratchett book's and read what happens next in the Discworld adventures with the great Turtle and its adventures.

So, when I go a chance to read this book again........I didn't need my ever ready battery torch - I had a kindle to read it from. OMG I was transported back in time to by small bedroom hiding under my quilt reading it. This book was still magical from the first time I had read it.

Small Gods is a commentary on religion, belief, philosophy, knowledge, revolution and humanity.

This book is a Pratchett's greatest stand alone book.

If you have not read any of his books?! where have you been.......I highly recommend all of his books.

Biggest Thank you to Random House UK, Transworld Publishers, Corgi for my copy of Sir Terry Pratchett's Small God's Book for a review.

This is another of my rereads of a Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett and let me tell you it was an absolute joy to return to the flat planet on the back of four elephants on a giant turtle. The author goes to town on this parody and satire on religion, and our history and contemporary present, achieved through a stylish, yet oddly profound and humorous perspective, to diffuse the tensions that can arise with a controversial subject which we are so often advised to avoid like the plague. Everyone has their beliefs with a multitude of gods competing against each other for believers, the more you have, the greater your power. So if you are the great God Om, reduced to a small god manifesting as a little tortoise, let's just say you are not going to be making much of a impression with Brutha making for a wonderful protagonist as Om's only believer. This is marvellous fantasy storytelling that takes in bigotry, the use of fear and terror through the likes of the inquisition, to ensure religious adherence, the conflicts, and problems of organised religion.

Pratchett creates a host of characters that represent people and our relationship with religion, done with thought and hope, a thoroughly laugh out loud experience. One of the best Discworld novels that illustrate just how good the author is when he is at the top of his game. Many thanks to the publisher.

This is my first Pratchett... I think the sheer number of his books is overwhelming and I didnt know where to start.
Where to start, was reading that it could be read as a stand alone.
It was bonkers, but in the best way... Good characters, ridiculous scenarios, wise words... so much good stuff.
I'm still overwhelmed by the back catalogue, but I think this is an authour who's going to be good to pick up every so often and just get lost in.
