Such a helpful book for children to discover how to pray and talk to God. This book gives you numerous short prayers for every time of the day. It teaches you to talk to your Creator at times when you are grateful, when you are playing or creating. In small awkward moments: when you have to say goodbye to a friend way too soon, or did something you regret.

The poetic illustrations give this book a calm and cozy look. A nice book to use in the family for faith education or at the Sunday school lessons. Especially for children between 4 and 9 years old.

A big plus at the end of the book you are invited to think about your own little moments in your day. How can you write or speak a prayer about that yourself?

Such a delight both in words and pictures. A very tender and thoughtful childrens’s book that would be a delight to share with either children or grandchildren. So appreciate author Tish Harrison Warren’s other wise and thought provoking books, Her first foray into writing a children's book is a delight!

This book delivers exactly on what it says on the cover. A beautiful selection of prayers to take children through their most ordinary days, from waking up to going to sleep and everything in between. Each prayer is titled so it is clear what the prayer is about and is written using everyday language that children will understand. Each prayer is accompanied by a grey-scale illustration that reflects the content of the prayer. I wouldn't hesitate to add this to the reflection area in every classroom in a primary setting.

Great little book giving some forms of prayers to help our little ones pray.

Whilst there are many 'first prayer' type books available this is different. The prayers are grounded in reality and focus on concrete examples. They try to get at the root of teaching our children to enter into a life of faith.

I often find solace as an adult in prayers designed for children and this book is no different. Perhaps a little too simplistic at times but I guess that depends on the development of the child's mind. Recommended.

Tish Harrison Warren lives at the center of a million digital storms. And, let’s be honest, she writes terrible, wrong-headed opinion pieces.

She’s also annoying good at talking about prayer.

In “Little Prayers for Ordinary Days,” her new collection of children’s prayers authored with Katy Bowser Hutson and Flo Paris Oakes, though, Warren’s back at her best. Along with her co-authors, both founding members of the sweet children’s folk-gospel band Rain for Roots, this is a little book that does big things.

Take their prayer “For when I break something” — it’s the sort of thing that happens all the time in any life that involves kids, or just being human. In a few simple lines, this prayer articulates remorse, the need for courage, and God’s unceasing love for us that is so much greater than God’s love for anything we could break. And that’s the story over and over again in this collection. It’s overflowing with God’s love.

Another small thing I love about this collection: the clear link between prayer and praise. These are prayers that embrace Anne Lamott’s principle of Help-Thanks-Wow. They ask for God’s help, they appreciate God’s gifts and grace, and they live into our need to praise God’s goodness and the wonder of creation.

So, what about my sense of conflict with one of the authors? It’s complicated! I don’t really know of a lot of other children’s prayer books that avoid trite rhymes or just rehash existing prayers. These are new, accessible but appropriate through middle-to-late childhood, but simple enough to pray with much younger children. And, they contain profound moments where I feel their immense wonder, like in the prayer “For when I look at the stars” –

…In the Bible you said you would
make a family like the stars –
so many people we couldn’t even count them if we tried!
You look at us like we look at the stars –
shining and breathtaking and beloved.

I can feel complicated about one of the authors of this collection while also recognizing that our children are deserving of prayers that so earnestly describe their belovedness and helps us see God’s constant presence, whether we’re brushing our teeth, going to school, having a great day, or having a bad one. We are seen and loved and that love never fails.

Oh my! Another five star beautifully illustrated book for children! I would hate to be a judge deciding on book awards this year, particularly since I just reviewed a friend's fictional picture book for children also beautifully illustrated, and in this book on prayer, that author friend has this group of her friends releasing an equally beautifully and wonderfully written book! Glad I don't have to decide anything except to buy both books!

This book on prayers for children to pray will touch an adult's heart as well. May we come as little children before God's throne of grace.

What a lovely book! I find Little Prayers for Ordinary Days to be very touching and inspiring. I feel it will help children to remember God in all aspects of their life. Very beautiful and would make a great gift!

This is a sweet prayer book that can encourage children to build a relationship with God. It provides several templates to guide a child in prayer. The illustrations are gorgeous and would hold a child's attention. I was disappointed the prayers were not rhyming or less complex to remember.

This sweet, reassuring picture book is full of short prayers that children can pray throughout everyday life. The book emphasizes that we should talk to God about everything, not just about special occasions or big spiritual events, and the many prayers on different topics show children connecting with nature, dealing with disappointment, enjoying friendship, and dealing with the many ordinary ups and downs of life.

These prayers can encourage children to talk to God and provide emotionally healthy templates for them to consider when processing their experiences. However, I wish that the prayers had more of a rhythm to them, since they are formatted like stanzas. They sometimes seem a bit choppy or end abruptly, and even though that's fine for a prayer, the way that they are presented here makes it seem like they should read more like poetry, rhyming or otherwise.

This is a very sweet way to introduce children to liturgy; what to pray when you don't know what to pray. Each prayer is just a sentence or two, very appropriate for young children and nicely helping form attitudes and hearts toward the Lord.

What a wonderful little prayer book. The prayers with God are literally conversations. Not always asking for things, though there are some of those. Sometimes just talking with God about the present day and thanking Him for blessings, big and small.

The illustrations are top-notch too. Just love them! I might have preferred them in color instead of monochromatic, but who's to say you or your child can't use some color pencils and make the book more personalized.

For sure, a nice little present for any young child or for parents/grandparents to snuggle and read together with their tiny loved one. A superlative way to instill a love of praying and to teach them that every day or every hour can be the right time to talk to God.

Great book with short memorable prayers! I have two littles and am excited to have the opportunity to teach them some easily memorizable prayers for them to use in day-to-day situations. Teaching them to have a heart of prayer from a very young age is important and this book is a fantastic resource! Thank you!

I love this children’s book of everyday prayers. So many children are taught only to pray certain prayers at certain times, and never learn to pray from the heart in all circumstances. I love that this book has many different prayers for ordinary situations. It is my hope and prayer that all children reading this book will learn that it is okay to pray what is on your heart at any time, in any situation. God is our Father and is there for us always, whenever we need to talk to him.

This is a llvely prayer book.

With prayers for different aspects of a normal day. Really show a child to be grateful and thankful even for those things we are not enjoying (like the food at dinner time).

The pictures add to the appeal of the book too.

I love this book! "Little Prayers for Ordinary Days" starts out perfectly. It explains that praying can sometimes be hard and you may not know what to say. It also explains that there are many ways to pray. You can pray alone, with friends or family, loudly, or to yourself. All that matters is you are talking to God and He is always there and is always listening to you. This is a great way to show children how to pray and shows great examples of how to pray every day even if you don't know what to say. It shows that every moment in your day has room for prayers and talking to God is important to Him and it's good for you. For me, I have anxiety and talking to God during the day helps keep me calm. I highly recommend this to children wanting to learn about God and praying.

Little Prayers for Ordinary Days features many different little prayers children can do throughout their days. I enjoyed all of them and how short and sweet they were. The prayers are accompanied by nice illustrations as well. This is a good guide that prayer can be incorporated into the day for any reason.

This is a wonderful book filled with simple prayers that kids can relate to. Just reading through the prayers helps them understand that we can talk to Jesus at any time, in any situation. They are also great guides for those who get stuck in a rut. Instead of "God, help us to have a good day at school today," a child can pray the "for the start of a school day" prayer. There's a mealtime prayer and one that my kids will appreciate a mealtime prayer "for when I have to eat something I don't like."
