Such an interesting concept. Time travel is one of my favourite concepts and I really enjoyed the idea of waking up further and further in the past each day in order to solve the reason for this time loop.

Very enjoyable read.

Gillian McAllister does it again! In this trippy thriller, a mother witnesses her son commit a terrible crime. When she wakes up the next day, it hasn't occurred. She is living the day before it happened again, and realises she has a chance to save her son from prison.

This is a very good book. It is fast-paced and grips you from the start. You never quite know where the plot will take you, and it's a very fun ride. The writing style is impressive too. This is a must for fans of twisty thrillers.

Many thanks to Gillian McAllister, NetGalley, and Penguin Michael Joseph UK for this copy.

Struggling to get into this at the moment unfortunately. Will come back to it at a later date and try again

Absolutely loved this book. Great combination of family drama, mystery and time travel. It's along the lines of Russian Dolls but this was superior in my opinion.

WOW! This was one of these books where you just have to sit for a while after to finish it to truly appreciate what you've just read.

It starts with Jen, waiting up late into the night for her 18 year old son, Todd, to come home. As she peers out the window, she spots him coming up the street - then she witnesses something incomprehensible - he stabs someone, right outside their house. Todd, her good natured, intelligent, carefree boy has murdered a stranger. Arrested and in police custody, Jen know their lives will never be the same again - that is until she goes to sleep and when she wakes the next day, it's yesterday again and life is as it was before - before her son was a killer.

This was a very unique concept from McAllister and one that I'll not forget anytime soon. The characters were superb, especially Jen with her determination to prove her sons innocence despite her brokenness.

With numerous twists and turns this was a gripping read and one that I would highly recommend.

Many thanks to Penguin Michael Joseph UK, Michael Joseph and NetGalley for the review copy.

‘Wrong Place Wrong Time’ blew me away. I have been a Gillian McAllister fan since her first release ‘Everything but the Truth’; it has been so amazing to see her develop as a writer and receive the recognition that she deserves!
Once again McAllister really plays with the conventions of a crime thriller which definitely keeps the twists coming and readers guessing right until the end. I loved the original spin on the structure in this novel as the main character aims to prevent a murder by living each day prior, steadily progressing backwards and uncovering the moments that lead to the initial crime. Sometimes I find the ‘time travel’ trope a little dysfunctional and hard to follow but McAllister handles it really well and I personally enjoyed the way the secrets really unravelled. The whole complex structure was ambitious but I really feel like it was successful and made it an original but not a novelty read; every moment and every character was incredibly well thought out.
I really cannot wait to see what McAllister does next as with every book she has evolved in style and experiments with something new; an exciting and memorable addition to her body of work for sure!

Wrong Place Wrong Time is mindblowing. Possibly one of the best books released this year and almost certainly one of the best Gillian McAllister has released so far.

Jen sees her son Todd murder someone. The day after she wakes up and finds it's the day before. She then starts jumping back days, then weeks, then years, each time finding something new. She hopes to change the past so that her son does not become a murderer.
I enjoyed the book but I did find that it became a bit boring in the middle once the truth started to emerge. I kept hoping each jump would take Jen back to the present. A few jumps less would have been perfect. I will certainly look out for McAllister's books in the future.
This is an honest review of a complimentary ARC.

Jen’s relief at her teenage son’s return home late one October Friday night, turns to horror as she witnesses him stab a man just meters from their front door. Todd is promptly arrested, and Jen, along with her husband, Kelly, are left stunned, unable to speak with him until the next morning when they can return with a solicitor. The last thing Jen remembers of that night is dozing on the sofa, but when she wakes she is in bed, Todd is in his bedroom, Kelly is at work, and it’s Friday morning …again.

Jen is confused, her son and husband are bemused by her story, and Jen allows herself to be convinced she dreamed the whole thing, but nevertheless insists Todd stays home, and as she’s falling asleep she is confident she’s avoided a nightmare scenario. So why, when she next wakes, is it the day before the day before?

Every time Jen wakes, she finds herself further back in the past, sometimes days, weeks and even years, eventually realising that to change the future, and save her son, she has to determine where everything went wrong. I felt sympathy for Jen as her whole life slowly began to unravel, her past revealing crushing secrets, and admired her determination to find the answers.

The plot is intricate, though not unfathomably so, once you become comfortable with the time slips. While I’m not a fan of time travel generally, I found I was quickly absorbed in this high concept story. The novel unfolds at a compelling pace, despite moving backwards from the crime to its cause, and offers plenty of surprising twists. The epilogue too is quite the stunner.

Intriguing and clever, Gillian McAllister presents an original premise executed with impressive skill in Wrong Place Wrong Time.

Jen is a devoted wife and mother with a good job and lovely home.  However, her life is thrown into turmoil when she witnesses her son commit murder outside their home.

He's a good person, he's been raised right - nothing makes sense to her about the situation she has witnessed.

After eventually falling asleep, she awakes confused as everything is as it was the day before the murder was committed.  Todd, her son is home and acting normal.  Kelly, her husband is his usual self.  It soon becomes evident that she is travelling backwards through time to try and stop the catastrophic events of that day happening.

Awaking on significant days over a period of 20 years, she has to look closely and notice things of importance to piece together where everything went wrong.

I absolutely loved the idea of this book, and it was executed brilliantly.  Drip fed new snippets of information, I felt like I was piecing things together with Jen.  A few good twists that made me gasp and everything was tied up so nicely at the end.

Very cleverly written and well thought out.  I absolutely loved it and would thoroughly recommend.

I have read the author's previous novels and enjoyed them. This was an ambitious twist on the traditional crime mystery and well written though it did not grip me.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!

Can I leave my review at that?? I don't think anything I can say will convey how amazing this book is!! I absolutely loved it and my stone cold heart was so moved. What would you do to save your son from prison, imagine witnessing a life altering event and then waking up every day in a new time previous to this to try and change the outcome. This is exactly the scenario our protagonist Jen finds herself in and every day she finds out a new piece of information. She must take all these previously unseen details that weren't relevant at the time and make them fit together like the most complicated jigsaw ever!

Such and amazing and original concept for a story.

This time travelling adventure takes a mother from a murder backwards in time to find the reason. An interesting concept on a 'who dunnit 'and why - providing you are able to suspend reality!

I loved the premise of this book… a time travelling thriller?! Right up my street.

With a deliciously twisty and very clever plot, this had me hooked from the beginning.

The unique premise puts this book a cut above most thrillers, but I also massively enjoyed the emotional elements of this book <spoiler> especially Jen’s love for her father and her realisation- at the same time as the reader- that she would see him again. </spoiler>

This book was everything you’d want a good thriller to be, with a cherry on top.

Huge thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A twisty, turny thriller that must have been a real challenge to plot, as the protagonist, Jen, is stuck in a time loop. It opens with her son being accused of a stabbing, and each time Jen wakes up, she has moved further back in time - at first to two days before the stabbing, then three, and eventually further still. She works frantically to understand what is happening to her - and to see whether she can do something to prevent the stabbing from happening. It's really gripping and a clever plot device.

A twist on time travel with a hint of Groundhog Day - when Jen keeps leaping back in time to prevent her son committing a heinous crime will she ever be able to understand why her beloved boy turns into a killer? It's hard to imagine how on earth Gillian McAllister plotted this incredibly clever book out. Intriguing, sometimes frustrating but beautifully constructed, you'll find yourself gripped until the very end. A great thriller!

Jen is a mother, wife, solicitor. One event upends her world. When did the chain of events leading to the end begin? What would you do if you could change them?

Wow, wow, wow! After struggling to read recently I thought I'd give this a go. I'm so glad that I did. Wrong Place Wrong Time has easily found it's way into my favourite reads. It's an absolutely stunning read. Every time you think that you have slotted the pieces into place a simple sentence turns everything on it's head.

Amazing book, well worth reading. A real modern classic that stands head and shoulders above the rest.

A thriller where you go back in time to stop the crime. Once I got past the concept of a time loop or whatever concept enabled Jen to move backwards in time from the day she witnesses a life changing crime, I was absorbed trying to unfold in reverse the clues to where she ended up and this read kept surprising me. Many thanks to Netgalley and Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House for the ARC.

Hmmm I’m not at all sure about this book. I wanted to finish it to see how it ended, and it was quite unique, but maybe just not my cup of tea.

The first couple of chapters started off really well- Jen and Kelly are waiting up for their 18-year old son, Todd, to come home after a night out. As he walks up the street towards home, a man suddenly appears and Todd fatally stabs him. Jen and Kelly end up at the police station trying you find out what’s happening and they hear a young women was stabbed in similar fashion just two nights ago. Has their son killed both people- and why?!

All very good and intriguing so far…but then…Jen starts time travelling back to the days, weeks, then years before the stabbing incident. This is where I started to lose interest as it was just too far fetched. Others might like this but I prefer crime thrillers that are more believable.

It reminded me a bit of Sliding Doors as Jen woke up in different time periods and tried to change history to reach a different outcome to prevent her son Todd committing the crime that night. I read on as I was interested to see how it ended and the story did tie up quite nicely. But I’m just not really into stories about time travel so was quite disappointed and was not what I expected.

Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for providing an advance copy of this book in return for my honest opinion. I have also published this review on Goodreads.
