Wrong place wrong time by Gillian McAllister was a delight. What an interesting premise and how skilfully executed. It’s a master class in plotting a whodunnit backwards. Initially I was a little unsure but I very quickly got into the zone and thoroughly enjoyed Jen’s detective work. This was well paced and the characters were great. I really felt I got to know their personalities and was rooting for them all. Nice wee twists in the tale too, just as I would expect from Gillian’s writing. Excellent four star read

This is the first of McAllister’s books I’ve read, and I’m left wondering why! I don’t think I’ve ever read a plot like this (the sliding door/groundhog day element) and I was slightly sceptical of how this would work, but it was such an inventive, intensely clever idea that was perfectly executed. I love a book that really makes you think, and this was certainly one of them.

Unique, thrilling and gripping, this was a time-warping exploration of family drama, a mother’s love and the thought-provoking way such small actions can have massively long-reaching consequences. Starting with the day of the crime and working backwards, this was brilliantly written, full of twists and turns, and completely mind bending. We follow mainly Jen’s perspective, with smaller excerpts from Ryan, through complex timelines that captured and kept my attention throughout.

It's hard to review this without giving too much away, but I urge you all to read this! I didn’t see the big twist coming at all and the way it all came together was stunning. The ending was absolute PERFECTION, literally gave me goosebumps and I have such an appreciation for the time that must have gone into such an ambitious plot.

Thoroughly enjoyed this race-against-time thriller with a distinctive twist! It was refreshing to read a thriller written in a slightly different format which kept me on edge throughout.

The characters were believable and it was hard not to get attached to them. The motherly despair was poignant and made for an edge-of-your-seat, questioning experience.

Already recommended it to many!

I had seen Wrong Place Wrong Time all over social media pre-release so I was definitely eager to see what all the chatter was about. Told in reverse, WPWT is quite unusual in that respect. While I enjoyed reading it, I didn’t quite feel like I loved it. It was just enough to keep me reading, but I never fully engaged with the characters. Crime fiction fans I’m sure will love this though!

A unique and intelligent premise with a twisting plot that is nothing short of genius. An immersive read that is focused more on the why than the usual who did the crime. And as we travel further and further back in time, we start to learn more about Jen, her partner, her son and the choices they made. I need to use a cliché here – I couldn’t put it down.
A compelling new take on a crime thriller. Perfect for fans of Time Travel and thrillers by authors like Adele Parks.

I wish I hadn't waited so long to read this one. I’ve not read any of Gillian’s books before, and this did not disappoint! I loved how the book worked backwards in time, there was a few times I thought ‘why doesn’t this person remember this thing’, then remembered that it hadn’t happened for them yet! So even though it was a little confusing, it was only rarely and didn’t take anything away from the story at all.

I’d definitely read more of Gillian’s books, and would recommend this one! Thanks to Penguin Michael Joseph for my e-arc.

Wow! I finished this book in 24 hours! What a page turner!

I chose to read this book without even reading the premise as I love the Gillian McAllister's books, so went in completely blind. I wasn't disappointed! It was a fantastically different sort of psychological thriller and I loved the way it was put together.

It's a fast paced book which I loved, right from the start there is shock, tension, and questions galore. There are elements (no spoilers) which I thought I wouldn't believe or necessarily enjoy when they started, but actually I just went with it and thoroughly enjoyed the difference turn the book took.

Gillian McAllister is an excellent writer and once again has come up with an excellent book. i'm only sorry it's finished! Well done!

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Michael Joseph UK for a copy of the book in return for an honest review. All thoughts are very much my own.

Absolutely brilliant! Wrong Place Wrong Time is incredibly clever and intricately plotted to slowly unveil the story, peeling back the layers as the protagonist moves backwards in time. Highly recommended.

When Jen's normal, happy son Todd commits murder one night her whole life is not so much turned upside down but sent backwards. Each day she wakes further and further back in her past allowing her to unravel what caused everything to spiral out of control so suddenly. An absolutely riveting read full of suspense, thrills and shocks especially when the truth gradually emerges.
Every Gillian McAllister is a total treat but this one is a triumph. Just spine tingly fabulous.

Wowsers. What a clever clever storyline. Makes you think too much about what you would do yourself if you woke up and could feel your hip bones again!!
Jen will do anything to stop her son from going to prison. A mothers strength is beyond our imaginations sometimes but to gradually progress back through Time to change events is some damn strength.
I have been a fan of Gillian’s books for a while but this is simply the best. Could not put it down.

The stakes have been raised in this clever and complex psychological thriller told in reverse. One autumn night as the clocks go back, Jen watches in horror as her teenage son fatally stabs a stranger. She then wakes up to find it's yesterday, the day before the murder. Can Jen stop her son from becoming a killer? A gripping read that will set your spine-a-tingling.

This book will surprise you……well it surprised me! If you had told me it involved time travel, I may not have read it - and I’d have missed out! It’s slightly confusing initially but once you get into it………you’ll be hooked and it continued to surprise me all the way through!

It starts with a murder committed by a teenage lad in front of his mother and father! He stabs a man to death.

Then the magic begins! It’s captivating, enthralling and full of twists and turns that you could never have predicted!

Highly recommended - five stars!

My thanks go to Gillian McAllister, who never disappoints, the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this unusual but highly recommendable book!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The plotline of this book is based around organised crime, gangs and police undercover work and the story is relatively straightforward. It is given a unique twist by reliance upon the manipulation of time and therefore lies in the paranormal genre. The 'criminal' story is quite basic whilst the 'time travel' element is a clever idea, unravelling the story from the end backwards. I thought this slowed the pace of the story, reducing it from an exciting thriller to wading through treacle at times, with a great deal of unnecessary strong language peppered through characters' speech and thoughts. It's not a book I would want to read again but I am glad I read it to the end and discovered the final twist, although the final half page about Pauline and Connor made me think "oh, honestly?!"

This is pure genius. Gillian McAllister never disappoints but this in a league of its own. This is an utterly brilliant book and a parents worst nightmare. The time travel perspective is so well done. I read this in one sitting and it was impossible to put down. Dark, gripping and heart-racing. Pure brilliance.

A gripping and unusual book with a clever use of 'time-travel', though this is totally beyond the protagonist's control. When she sees her son committing a major crime, Jen is horrified and is thrown into a traumatic investigation of how and why this has happened. She is taken back to discover the history of her family and the possible causes of the unprecedented trouble. A fascinating and intelligent book, which feels totally original and engrossing. I loved it!

Firstly I am in total awe of the authors ability to write in reverse, but what a concept, starting the story at the end then finishing it at the beginning.

The book I read before this was about a split universe and this one has an element of sci Fi in it, with a back to the future vibe featuring a plot which invloves a mum trying to stop her son being arrested of murder.

It was completely gripping. I also loved the Liverpool setting, coming from that area made me feel even more connected to the story as I could clearly visualise the places.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion.
