I love reading books about books and reading one about books and being a writer was even better!

I loved the character of Liv and was glad to see her grow into the self-assured woman at the end of the book as she was very much taken for granted and overlooked at the start by her various cleaning jobs and her husband. Particularly loved her escapades in Croatia! The mystery that unravelled throughout the book was unexpected and added to the relationship between Essie & Liv. It was interesting how Phaedra has portrayed the role of the writer and how insular one can become whilst in the middle of writing!

Overall, I'd recommend to anyone who loves books and a feel-good read!

I really enjoyed this book! Such a fresh story and I really didn’t predict what was going to happen. It’s the story of Liz who is married with children flying the nest. She has worked as a cleaner as it worked for the family but always dreamt of being a writer. Cleaning for the reclusive writer Essie is the next best thing and before she knows it her world has tipped! Great read

Thank you to netgally for an early copy of this book in exchanhe for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It follows Liv who is a cleaner for a big author Essie who has been writing a series of popular books for years. When Essie passes away it falls to Liv to complete her last book. I enjoyed the story of Livs life and how her confidence grew through this experience. It was also good to understand how much goes into writing a novel. Highly recommended and would read more by this author.

Life just changed for Liv Green. Her life has been far from the ones she reads about in the pages of novels, her kids are grown up and don't need her anymore, her husband is never home and she's working as a house cleaner for people with more money than sense and don't even look at her. But then, she starts housekeeping for someone new - Essie Starling. THE Essie Starling, author of her favourite books and her absolute favourite person. But then, the unthinkable happens and Essie dies suddenly, leaving a mystery only a writer could behind. Liv is left with one final request from her new friend - to complete the novel she hasn't finished yet and step into Essies mind for a while. But while she's there, she's going to learn more than how to write a book, her life is going to change forever.

I love books about books - and this one was no exception. A refreshingly unique mystery left behind by a reclusive author leading to chaotic and simply wonderful antics that could only happen on the pages of a novel. It was impossible not to love Liv and Essie, and their blossoming relationship was beautiful to watch as it developed even after her Death.

Heartbreakingly endearing but with so much light and love - this is a feel-good hit you should definitely be sharing!

Liv got a job as a cleaner with her favourite author Essie Starling but Essie dies unexpectedly with her last wish for Liv to finish her last novel and then secrets are revealed.
Very likeable characters would definitely recommend.

I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would! Lovely to read about Liv and how she is happy with life and then ends up writing a novel for a well know author after her death which no one knows about!

I loved this book. A great idea for a story that was very well written. I was really involved with the characters and how the story (both of them) would end.
Highly recommended.

Liv has secretly always wanted to be a writer but life, marriage and two sons got in her way. The nearest Liv has got to her secret dream is a few unfinished manuscripts in her drawer and working as a cleaner for her favourite novelist Essie Starling. Not that she has much to do with her as the writer is curt and aloof and never really about when Liv is cleaning.
Then Essie seems to take notice of Liv. She knows Liv loves her books and knows everything about the main character who the books are about. She asks Liv to become her assistant while she writes her 20th book.
Then Essie disappears and Liv only hears want Essie wants her to do through her lawyer. This sparks the start of one big mystery story that Liv feels compelled to find answers too . What she doesn't know is just why has Essie involved her in this.
This was a really good read. Liv was actually a very feisty person who seems to have been held back in life. Even her husband thinks she's only capable of being a cleaner.
The book sees Liv more or less having a secret life that she can tell know one about, she must have been exhausted. I. was so involved with the story it only took me a day to read it through til two in the morning.
What a good read.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline was fresh and I’ve never read a book like it. I found myself completely drawn in from the very beginning and I just needed to know what was going to happen next. The story definitely does suck you in emotionally and I really felt the highs and lows of the story along with the characters. A truly brilliant, feel good read.

Liv is a woman in her 40's who appears to be content enough with her life. She's married and has two almost grown up sons and works as a cleaner. She's a huge fan of author Essie Starling and jumps at the chance to clean her home for her. When Essie passes away suddenly, Liv discovers that she's left two requests. The first is that Liv has to write the second half of her final book and the second is that she can't tell anyone she's dead. She has a six month deadline to write the book in secret. I thought this was a delightful read and found it entirely unpredictable.

Another one of those 'cant put downables', had me hooked and took over my life for the day. Wonder if there's a storyteller in all of us? Lot's of twists and turns for the reader,

This is a brilliantly written book that quickly pulled me in. I absolutely loved the concept of this story & how its woven web unravels to reveal the whole story. Heartily recommend this one.

Another delightful feel good novel by Phaedra Patrick. It is a very light and quick read with sympathetic characters and an overall fairy tale feel. The book features Liv Green, a wife, mother and cleaner, who is taken out of her comfort zone on a journey of self discovery after the death of one of her employers. The book is ideal for reading whilst sitting by the beach on holiday.
