Really easy to read book, very hard to put down, well written, loved the characters. It keeps you guessing as to whether Fanny and Hayes get to meet up again.

In A New York Minute begins on one of the worst days of Franny's life. On her way home after being unexpectedly laid off, she experiences an extremely embarrassing wardrobe malfunction on the subway home. Lucky for her a handsome stranger is there to save the day in one of the most memorable meet-cutes I've read in recent years. I picked this up ready for a quick fun read and it definitely filled those boots for me. I am a fan of a slightly awkward hero and I was really rooting for Hayes and Franny, the #SubwayQTs.

Ultimately, however, I did find the really strong start tapered off as we follow Franny's journey. I'm not sure what exactly fell flat for me at points but it did sometimes feel like the writing was not as engaging as it could have been and the dialogue often stilted. I did see a lot of potential though and I am very interested in picking up what Kate Spencer does next. All in all, it was an enjoyable read and a good debut.

This was a just a sweet read. Grumpy / sunshine trope. This was a first novel by Kate Spancer, and it was a okay read.

This was my first Kate Spencer book and sadly I'm not sure her style is for me. I found it rather stilted and didn't flow very naturally. There was also absolutely no chemistry between Franny and Hayes, sadly a must have for me in a romance novel. A DNF.

I feel like if I forced myself to continue this book I would have probably given the book a 2 star review however I dnf'd the book at 40%. I just didn't feel the story was engaging or particularly interested in the characters. I'm not sure if its because any description of their personality was very basic that it felt bland. I wanted to love the story about a meet cute gone wrong and viral but I didn't feel that spark from the writing that made me want to know what happens next. I found myself wandering while reading the book which is never good as it means the story or writing is sufficient to grab my attention.

I think there definitely is an audience out there for the book as I did think some parts were okay but just not good enough for me to keep reading.

This was such escapist reading, and maybe I enjoyed it more than expected because I am en route to NYC this year, and this only served to hype perhaps the most hyped city in the world.

But not only is this a cute romance, but it's also an ode to one of the most famous cities in the world - the perfect backdrop to a romance with the classic elements with a fab 21st-century twist.

What I loved about this is that it was reminiscent of the romance films that made me fall in love with romance as a genre in the first place - if you liked Serendipity or Moonstruck, this book is for you.

Swoony lead, slightly ridiculous meet cute and just an adorable love story.

(Plus, the resolution to the 3rd act conflict in this book is something that is truly deserving of the big screen)

I knew I was going to like this heard so many good things about it. And they were right it was amazing book I loved that it’s based in New York. And they mention the sub way how it start off. It’s funny and full of humour. Start of with being a worst day and things started turning better for franny Doyle. Loved the characters the banter the writing style. Loved every paged.

Franny is having the worst day, she’s just been fired from her job at Spayce a tech start up company where she worked as an interior designer.

It’s for that reasons she finds herself on the subway in the middle of the day heading home to her apartment in Brooklyn Heights.
In her rush to not miss the subway she squeezes on to the train on the platform and to her horror she has a wardrobe malfunction.

Franny’s outfit has become a hospital gown having gotten caught in the subway door. Her bare bum is on show to everyone on the platform as she tries and fails to keep the two seams together a handsome stranger steps in to help. He offers her his suit jacket so she can protect her modesty.

As she exits the subway at her stop Franny thinks no more about it other than to call the handsome stranger Hot Suit Guy.
The very next day they have gone viral on instagram, being called the Subway QT’s (cuties).

A social media campaign is launched to reunite them. As Franny finds out hot suit guy better known as Hayes Montgomery the Third isn’t her type and they’re from completely different backgrounds. He’s awkward and honestly a bit rude but she is happy in the knowledge that she returned his jacket. That’s it now she can move on with her life, can’t she?

A really lovely romance story. A slightly grumpy male protagonist and a sunny then sunshine female in Franny. This was so easy to read, the words just flowed right off the page, I felt instantly immersed in their story and could picture it unfolding as the book went on. I particularly enjoyed Franny as an interior designer and that element.

A lovely easy read with a great plot. even a little bit of spice added in.

A wonderful, easy read. I adored this book and will be looking out for more by Kate Spencer.. I loved the New York setting, the "meet-cute" trope, the sunshine/grumpy trope. Franny and Hayes in their NY rom-com - highly recommended.

A fun New York themed romcom that centres around a meet-cute gone wrong. It’s like a love letter to the city and how someone on a train carriage can turn out to be someone so important to you

if you’re looking for a book that makes you feel like you’re watching a rom-com film , this book is definitely for you!!

Plot line:
Franny meets Hayes in the opposite of a meet-cute – when her dress gets caught in the subway doors on her way home and then rips, leaving her in the fashion equivalent of a hospital gown. Hayes is the stuffy suit whose one redeeming quality is giving Franny his jacket, saving her from showing her assets to half of New York. Franny is eager to forget the whole horribly embarrassing encounter as soon as possible, but neither of them anticipated a fellow commuter live-blogging them as #subwaybaes – turning their awkward run-in into click-bait, and a manufactured love story for the ages . . .

Quick to dismiss Hayes as just another rich guy, Franny is sure she’ll never see him again, and she’s desperate to put her three minutes of viral fame behind her. But fate isn’t done with the would-be subway sweethearts just yet . . .

My thoughts:
I absolutely loved this book!!

I really enjoyed the shared excitement and anticipation of romance Franny and Hayes developed when they kept bumping into each other in different places/ circumstances as the story unraveled (this made me think that they were soulmates).

As a reader , I love it when a book makes me feel as though I’m the main character within the story and this did just that (it also had me smiling from start to finish too!)

I especially liked how this book had the right amount of humour, friendship and romance throughout.

as for the storyline itself , it was amazing! I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters especially Hayes and his perspective in certain circumstances.

I recommend this book to those of you who like to read about :
- fate / soulmates trope
- workplace romance
- contemporary romance
- dual pov’s

overall , I’d like to say a huge thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an arc of In A New York Minute.
Franny is having a horrible day. She’s just been fired from her job, and when she gets on the tube home her dress is caught in the doors, ripping it! A handsome stranger gives her his suit jacket to keep her decent, and a picture of the moment goes viral, with newspapers, reporters and everyone on social media nicknaming them the ‘Subway QT’s’. Franny is interviewed and adamantly states that the two are not ‘in love’ and she has never seen the man after this encounter. But the media just aren’t buying it!
I really enjoyed this novel; it was funny and charming. I would definitely recommend if you like romcoms or romance in general!
There is also family dynamics explored in this book and one of my favourite quotes from it is when Franny is talking about her father.
‘Most of the time it felt like my mom got knocked up by a ghost who then chose not to haunt me.’

Sweet, it was the right book at the right time for me, who needed some escapism from life and heavy news. The characters were nice, although I wish they'd had more dimension. The movies references were good, and overall I had a lovely time reading it.

This was incredibly boring and bland. The main characters had pretty much no chemistry whatsoever, the dialogue was so stilted and unrealistic. On top of that, there was nothing funny or romantic about this rom-com.

A wholesome meet cute, I enjoyed this book and would recommend for a cosy autumn read!

I liked the main characters in the book and the growth the exhibited and the tech company / start up vibe!

I love love loved this book! The grumpy and sunshine trope, the meet cute, the friends to lovers, I could not get enough. I was hooked the second the first chapter was done, I was just waiting to see the plot unfold. I fell in love with Hayes (didn’t we all). It was the perfect book. It covered topics that we all see in our everyday lives, from failed relationships to family issues, heartbreak and falling in love. Absolutely 10 out of 10.
