Description

Their love story has gone viral. But it hasn’t even begun . . .

‘The setting and the description and the warmth of it all feels very Nora Ephron to me’ Entertainment Weekly

Franny meets Hayes in the opposite of a meet-cute – when her dress gets caught in the subway doors on her way home and then rips, leaving her in the fashion equivalent of a hospital gown. Hayes is the stuffy suit whose one redeeming quality is giving Franny his jacket, saving her from showing her assets to half of New York. Franny is eager to forget the whole horribly embarrassing encounter as soon as possible, but neither of them anticipated a fellow commuter live-blogging them as #subwaybaes – turning their awkward run-in into click-bait and a manufactured love story for the ages . . .

Quick to dismiss Hayes as just another a rich guy, Franny is sure she’ll never see him again, and she’s desperate to put her three minutes of viral fame behind her. But fate isn’t done with the would-be subway sweethearts just yet . . .

A love letter to romance, friendship and the Big Apple, Kate Spencer's In a New York Minute is a fresh, modern take on romantic comedy for fans of The Flat Share, Our Stop and One Day in December.

This was such a quick, easy and engaging read that i sped through like my life depended on it. It was well written with a good narrative, well developed characters that I fell in love with and a well executed storyline. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be looking out for more reads from this author.

This book should absolutely be made into a film, it would be amazing! This is my ideal kind of read, uplifting, well written fiction.

I adored Franny, and her two best pals Cleo and Lola, theirs is a friendship group I could see myself as part of.

This book is ideal for a holiday read, I completely devoured it and is perfect for fans of Mhairi McFarlane and Beth O'Leary.

In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan and I am leaving this review voluntarily

A second chance…or a new romance?

A clever, tender, and romantic novel for readers of Christina Lauren, Jasmine Guillory, and Sophie Cousens, this laugh-out-loud debut is a perceptive reminder that fate can have a sense of humor, and that love can happen…In a New York Minute.

Franny Doyle is having the worst day. She’s been laid off from her (admittedly mediocre) job, the subway doors ripped her favorite silk dress to ruins, and now she’s flashed her unmentionables to half of lower Manhattan. On the plus side, a dashing stranger came to her rescue with his (Gucci!) suit jacket. On the not-so-plus side, he can’t get away from her fast enough.

This is a wonderful contemporary romance that begins as Franny is having her worst day. This is definitely a meet-cute as the couple meet when Franny's dress catches in the subway door and Hayes hands his jacket to cover up. A light and enjoyable read with some fun interactions.

Cute, funny and totally charming with endearing characters.

The meet-cute is quite novel with them meeting on the subway when Franny's dress gets caught in the subway doors and Hayes comes to the rescue by offering his jacket for her modesty. Predictably, they both feel an attraction but neither do anything about it. It gets captured on social media and the phenomenon ironically gets in the way of them getting together.

Loved the easy, fluid style of writing, that didn't try too hard but conveyed everything it needed. The characters mostly made sense and were realistically awkward. I also enjoyed the world of interior design and would have enjoyed more detail here. All in all, I really enjoyed this light, charming read.

So funny and romantic.

This was an absolute delight to read.
I laughed a lot, I cried a bit, but above all, I felt 100% on board with Franny and Hayes meet-cute.
I loved the characters, and I could really relate to all their rather complicated and mixed feelings.

Recommended to any and all who enjoy a feel-good romantic comedy.

A Sweet and tender five-star read. I haven’t read this author before and was so pleasantly surprised, the story was sweet and tender, with funny dramatic moments mixed in as well. The characters were all real and you could feel the embarrassment and pain, as well as the joy and love. Franny and Hayes may be the main characters of this story, but New York is also a big character in this story, she shows us her true beauty and determined grit. Hayes was someone I loved meeting, his gentlemanly qualities just made him so lovable, in a weird way. This is such a great meet cute story that will keep you hooked as you read, I am so excited to read more from this author as they have a way with words that just keeps me reading.

A real cute read. Haynes and Franny are both darlings, they both have their - entirely relatable - inept moments, their highs and lows and their real lives we live in with them. They have a fabulous circle of friends who keep them both grounded, and who guide our couple over the bumps. We have an engrangement, a house warming, a hospital stay and through it all Franny and Hayes are real kind people you just want to get together.

An enjoyable chick lit read, you were invested in the characters and their journey and it will definitely make you want to visit New York (which is a good thing in my book)
