This is a lovely light-hearted, contemporary romance which was engaging from beginning to end.

Having lost her job, Franny is not having a good day and this is only made worse when her dress gets caught in the subway door. Handsome Hayes gives her his expensive suit jacket to cover her gaping body. Inevitably, someone captures the moment and it goes viral online as 'subway cuties.'

The friendship between Franny, Cleo and Lola was nicely portrayed, as was the close bond between Hayes and Eleanor. I liked how paths crossed when Lola begins a relationship with Haye's cousin, Perrine and he in turn comes back into Franny's life.

The rooftop garden seemed the perfect setting for romantic encounters.

The author is clearly talented at writing in the romance genre and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Thanks indeed to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Every rom com set in New York gets touted as Nora Ephronesque and very few deserve that tag, this one is probably one of the closest I’ve read that come to it. Franny is having a shit day, she’s just been sacked and now her favourite ethical dress has been caught in the subway door and ripped showing the world her assets. The being moderne day New York instead of helping everyone gets their camera phones out and captures Haynes the last gentleman in New York giving an emotional Franny his coat and it goes viral.. So beings our love story.
I really liked this, it was sweet and a bit silly, I liked the side characters and the way she wrote about New York. Although trying to make the finance guy ethical was a hard task to pull off.

Cute, funny and totally charming with endearing characters.

The meet-cute is quite novel with them meeting on the subway when Franny's dress gets caught in the subway doors and Hayes comes to the rescue by offering his jacket for her modesty. Predictably, they both feel an attraction but neither do anything about it. It gets captured on social media and the phenomenon ironically gets in the way of them getting together.

Loved the easy, fluid style of writing, that didn't try too hard but conveyed everything it needed. The characters mostly made sense and were realistically awkward. I also enjoyed the world of interior design and would have enjoyed more detail here. All in all, I really enjoyed this light, charming read.

A lovely book with a great cast of characters. Beautifully written and I got really invested in the story. I would highly recommend reading this one.

In A New York Minute is centred around Franny and Hayes, who by chance bump into each other on a subway train after Franny gets laid off from work and has a wardrobe mishap and Hayes gives her a helping hand. Their interaction was just the beginning, as they went viral for their meet-cute, and from there, their lives kept intersecting with each other.

Okay, I didn't realize that this book was already published by the time I got to the e-ARC until I checked earlier so this isn't an early copy review. BUT, I still had a fantastic time with this book.
What else can I say except that it's a stinkin' cute romance with supportive friendships all around? It must be noted that love is not just extended to lovers, friends and family, but also to New York. It's a busy city that moves at lightspeed, but there are pockets where time slows down enough for the characters to just... breathe, admire life, and appreciate how sometimes, things happen for a reason.

Thanks to Netgalley and Pan-Macmillian for providing me with the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another book that sounded so brilliantly promising. And another disappointment. I tried. Really hard. I kept reading, until almost 60%, and then I couldn't anymore, I just skimmed the pages. I had a feeling I am reading the same, over and over again, the will they/won't they, the accidental running into each other, no chemistry and the surrounding characters and their stories felt completely flat, same as writing style. I am so, so sad about this, I had such high hopes about this book and it started soooo great. But then it was only going downhills and it bored me.
There was so much potential to it, but it was not funny, it was not romantic. We are told a lot of things about the characters, like that Hayes is grumpy and remote , but well, I couldn't see it. There is not much personality in the characters, they don't shine, they don't jump off the pages.
There are also so many words. So many descriptions. We are told literally about EVERYTHING and we don't have a place for our own imagination, we're not given a chance to see something with our own eyes. Because we are TOLD.
I'm sorry but it didn't work for me.

Not exactly the swoony read I expected this to be. It drlt clunky and constructed in part. There was more tell than show, like Franny's background, Hayes' alleged grumpy character.

I liked what the author tried to do with the story, from the MCs unusual meeting to them falling for each other very slowly. Yet, overall I was underwhelmed.

In a New York minute by Kate Spencer is available now.

I’m very grateful to the publisher for my review copy through NetGalley.

I love romance, and this book was just the perfect escape at the right time.

Starting off with a “meet-cute scene”, a disaster day for Franny and maybe for Hayes as well, but one that will be a fake relationship becoming a genuine love story.

I loved the friendship between Franny and Cleo and Lola and, on the other side, Hayes and Eleanor.

Told in both pov, the story delves interestingly into both main character’s inner thoughts in certain scenes and also brings out parts of their past or dreams for the future.

Beautiful New York was presented in a way that it just makes me want it even more to visit and that rather sooner than later.

If you want to fulfil any romantic heart, this book is definitely the choice.

So funny and romantic.

This was an absolute delight to read.
I laughed a lot, I cried a bit, but above all, I felt 100% on board with Franny and Hayes meet-cute.
I loved the characters, and I could really relate to all their rather complicated and mixed feelings.

Recommended to any and all who enjoy a feel-good romantic comedy.

Overall it was a cute story. Parts seemed to drag on at times before it got to the inevitable but overall enjoyable enough.

A Sweet and tender five-star read. I haven’t read this author before and was so pleasantly surprised, the story was sweet and tender, with funny dramatic moments mixed in as well. The characters were all real and you could feel the embarrassment and pain, as well as the joy and love. Franny and Hayes may be the main characters of this story, but New York is also a big character in this story, she shows us her true beauty and determined grit. Hayes was someone I loved meeting, his gentlemanly qualities just made him so lovable, in a weird way. This is such a great meet cute story that will keep you hooked as you read, I am so excited to read more from this author as they have a way with words that just keeps me reading.

This was a fun read with a nod to modern day romance and the digital world.
It was a pleasant read and I enjoyed it but it didn’t set my world on fire.

This was fine but not one that really strikes me as being all that memorable. I liked the friendship group and side stories for the main part although I do think one on particular feels half baked.

Hayes and Franny were both reasonably likeable, and I did like the scenes where they were just hanging out and realising they found each other good company where they didn't have to try hard.

The book mentioned bagels too much - more than 20 times in a book is too much I think, even though I get that they're quintessentially New York.

My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I love the story, but... Ok, as I loved the story I felt like it was narrated too much. Too much information I didn't need or did not feel good to read was there.
But the meet-cute , two strangers falling in love- these are the things I look for in my reading and I was not disappointed. The book also shows an epic friendship bond , which was the cherry on top for me.

4.25 stars
First of all, I'm definitely a sucker for any kind of story set in New York City so when I saw that this revolved around the New York Subway I was immediately on board.
This definitely reminded me of a rom com that you would see up on the big screen.
What I really liked about this, other than maybe what happens at the hospital, is that the characters actually expressed how they felt. For example, we don't have chapters upon chapters of Hayes and Serena staying together just to cause there to be some drama or friction between the two main characters and a reason for them ultimately not to be together.
Confusions are mostly cleared up, which I appreciated.
Most of the time, they let each other know how they feel either in words or with how they behave.
I did like Franny and Hayes together but if I'm totally honest, the romance and them actually getting together was maybe a bit tame. Especially when we have waited so long for them to finally be more than just acquaintances or colleagues.
I would have loved just a little bit more.
I really liked the characters of Cleo and Lola. But at times Perrine and Eleanor didn't feel distinct enough for me. They weren't different enough that sometimes I found myself confusing who was who, even though one was his co-worker and one was his cousin.
Was it frustrating when Franny just ghosted Hayes after what happened at the hospital? Yes. But I did get that there needed to be a bit of drama.
Overall, this was a quick, easy read that I looked forward to picking up each time to see what would happen next.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A memorable meet cute with two quirky characters in this utterly sweet and romantic story. The characters are all well throughout fully developed and bring real life from the page.. I had so much fun reading this book and loved that the author clearly loved New York almost as much as Franny and Hayes love each other.
Kate Spencer has really capture each element with so much vibrancy and imagery I feel like I’m right there walking across Brooklyn Bridge or getting caught in the rain.
The romance was a little slow and a tad innocent or maybe stilted for true enjoyment without fault but definitely recommend.

This book was a delight to read and I flew through it in 24 hours! A sweet rom com that starts with a viral video and an awkward tv interview and develops into an adorable relationship (not a spoiler, we all know it’s going to happen).

I wish it had a LITTLE bit more substance to it because there wasn’t really any major turning points and was an easy ride throughout, and I think I might have started to like the side characters more than the main ones the further in I got. But, I was still somewhat hooked and kept reading and would recommend it to others that are looking for a good summer read.

This was such a quick, easy and engaging read that i sped through like my life depended on it. It was well written with a good narrative, well developed characters that I fell in love with and a well executed storyline. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be looking out for more reads from this author.
