The Perfect Blood Series is a middle-grade book about a kid who has Perfect Blood and the group of vampires he meets. The core characters are great, Aiden, Callie, and Tyler make a good team. The dad character was a disappointment, he is quite awful. The vampire hunters came across as stereotyped as aggressive jerks. The plot was ok and there is a little mystery about who is the main baddie witch. I am sure it will be a hit with the middle-grade crew.

This story had great ideas but it was easy to guess the twist. I really liked the characters and was rooting for them. Some of the story needs fleshing out a bit more and more background is needed. Also there is mention of a character ‘Lydia’ who isn’t present but she keeps being referenced, it seems really strange.

I feel the premise of this book was amazing; sounded like a dark fantasy that would hook any reader.

I enjoyed the plot of the book and the characters, but feel that maybe it should be targeted at a slightly younger audience. This book would be a perfect introduction to someone starting on their fantasy journey, I think for the cover to match the story it needs to be more detailed on the vampire aspects and the pain of the characters. Not glossed over.

Overall I did enjoy the book; just feel it should be aimed at a younger audience

Witches, Vampires and Vampire Hunters drive this dark fantasy tale that sees an ordinary boy named Aiden discover his true identity, he is what is known as the perfect blood.

Aiden and his two best friends Tyler and Callie are thrown into a supernatural battle that sees The Dark Witch resurrected and set on revenge against Vampires.

Aidens soon discovers his dad is not an engineer and is actually a Master Hunter for the Vampire Hunters Association which Aiden sees himself prematurely enrolled in after a vampire attacks him.

This is a YA book so it isn't overly gory when it comes to certain demises, I also found it funny that the vampires version of saying "Jesus Christ" is "Bloody Vlad".

The only thing I disliked about this book was that a few of the names were similar so sometimes it was a bit confusing who was being refered to.

I enjoyed this book and would continue the series.

This was an okay read. The cover design was really cool, but the story itself could have been better. I wish there was more time describing things like where the main characters were when they were attacked on the street or something along those effects. I didn’t really feel like there was any real big problem for the characters because there were SO MANY problems that kept coming up and each one was taking a backseat to the others depending on who’s perspective we were reading from. Also, and I’m not 100% sure, but the perspectives would change in the middle of the chapter without warning. Like we’ll be in Aiden’s POV and he’s with Callie and Tyler and something happens and then Callie notes something mentally all of a sudden. Just kind of really confusing to see.

I wasn’t too thrilled about the ending either. Everything neatly wrapped up in a nice little bow for our main characters. No struggles, no loss, no pain. Lame. I’m not a fan of books that work everything out for our characters without them ever losing something throughout. Like yea they lost some people, but they were totally worthless, yea we lost things oh but they came back so it’s okay. Everything literally goes back to how it was at the beginning of the story it’s just now Aiden knows vampires exist. Awesome.

It’s not my cup of tea, but maybe it could be yours.

I read this with a teenage member of our family and think that we both enjoyed it equally. The characters were engaging (I can remember being a teenager...just) and believable within the storyline. We both got to the end and wanted more and in my mind that's a successful book

A middle grader's delight! Loved the story plot. Characters needed alittle more depth but overall a good book! Thanks #netgalley and #BTAnnett for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Thank you to B.T.Annett and @netgallery for the advanced readers ebook edition.

The is the story of 14 year old Aiden, who has moved all over the world with his father all his life. Never staying in one place very long, he is desperate to find a place to call home.

When they relocate to England. Aiden notices some strange things going on; and after a near-fatal attack from a vampire - his whole life is turned upside down learning that his friends are vampires, witches are real and his dad is really a Master Hunter. If that wasn’t all, he learns that he’s a Perfect Blood, destined to change the world. As, the dark witch hunts Aiden down, he needs to find a way to save the supernatural world before it is destroyed.

Okay - I’m not that into vampire stories, but the plot and premise of this book sounded really good. The prologue was amazing and drew me right into the story. Then as the story continued, I found it fell flat. I know that Aiden is fourteen years old, but him and how friends and the kids at his school came across immature, it felt like more of a middle grade read than a ya read. I found the characters hard to connect with, they didn’t seem defined enough for me to keep my interest in what was happening to them.

While I do enjoy multiple POV reads, I found that it was sometimes hard to figure out whose pov the book was reading from.

I did very much enjoy the descriptiveness of the vampires, the surroundings, and everything in the book. I had a really good picture in my mind of what things looked and felt like.

All in all, this was a different and interesting read, but just wasn’t for me. For people who are really into series and vampires and the supernatural - I think they would very much enjoy this book.

The Perfect Blood series definitely had a great concept and seemed very thrilling and dark and mysterious, so I decided to pick it up off of Netgalley. I liked the blurb towards the back, and although I've never really tried paranormal, I was willing to give this a try.

Unfortunately, the book fell flat and just wasn't for me. This may just be a personal preference just being I'm a little older but it felt very kiddish to be marketed as a YA book. I think this would do very well as a middle-grade book, since it follows a younger protagonist than a usual YA protagonist. It just felt a lot less mature than what YA books incorporate and the writing style, plot and characters would have done well had it been a middle grade book.

Like said before, I loved the concept of the plot, and it has great potential. However, I was unable to finish it just because it felt very slow, it wasn't something I could care about, and I wasn't a fan of the pacing. It was cliche in many moments, and was very predictable.

Another thing I noticed it that I could not connect to any of the characters. All of them lacked internal conflict, and made it hard to sympathize and understand them. It also made the story drag a lot because I couldn't care about what was happening to the characters since I couldn't exactly root for them and there wasn't anything I found unique about them. They felt again, very cliche, and they did not act like how regular highschoolers did. There were just far too many of those classical archetypes such as the nice kids, mean girls, jocks, etc. As someone who is a highschooler myself, it was cringy and did not portray high school correctly. The dialogue felt very forced many times, as was the chemistry between Callie and Aiden. I wish that they got to know each other more, before they developed feelings for each other, which made it more realistic. But there relationship I felt was solely based off of physical attraction, which was disappointing.

The last thing I want to talk about was the POVs. While I AM a fan of multiple POVs, it felt very unnecessary in this book. Every few pages we would get a new POV, and sometimes it would switch from third person omniscient to third person limited. I wish it had been more consistent so it was easier to follow along with and so I wouldn't be confused trying to figure out who's head I was in.

In all honesty, I don't think it was a BAD book, I just think it wasn't really the book for me. I think this would be a very good book for middle grade and it has a lot of potential, but it fell flat for me. I'm going to have to give it 2/5 stars.

The Perfect Blood Series is an action-packed vampire mystery. The book is written from multiple points of view giving the paranormal world great depth. The story is of Aiden Dyer, a teenager whose father moves him around the world for his engineering job, until the day he is almost killed by a vampire. Aiden is suddenly introduced to a vast, more complex world than the one he thought he lived in. This book has fantastic world building and had my heart racing up to the end.
