Perfect little book to dip in and out of; great aid for language learning. Might not be the best for complete beginners.

Let's say it covers the basics but still good to get a taste of the language over a coffee break. It's a good book to get started on the language learning path.

The thing with languages, as with any skill, is that to remain proficient (at any level), you must keep practising. I know when I don't make an effort to read or listen to something in Italian, it doesn't take long for my abilities to wane.

The 50 Coffee Breaks series help you develop a simple routine of improving your language skills by integrating your learning into your daily routine, in the time it takes for a 5-minute espresso to a 15-minute latte!

Organised in 5, 10 and 15-minute sections, there are 50 varied activities, from anagrams and idiom challenges to recipes and quotations, which are created to keep you motivated while building your skills in critical areas:
☕️Reading comprehension
☕️Writing skills
☕️Grammar confidence
☕️Translation abilities
☕️Vocabulary expansion
☕️Cultural awareness

Beware, this is no beginner's guide; an understanding of the foundations of Italian is essential. I liked the format and the light-hearted tone of this book; it is a fun little activity book to keep your Italian skills refreshed with very little time commitment.

The “solution” pages to the challenges not only give you the solution but a detailed explanation - beneficial for seeing the context and learning more of the grammatical theory too.

I got my Italian B2 years ago. It would have been very useful if I had this activity book when I was preparing for the exam, even if this is meant for A2-B1 level learners. It’s great for consolidating vocabulary and starting spontaneous conversations. The content is useful and colloquial, not the stiff and sometimes outdated stuff I found in many textbooks. It’s well organised and divided into bite-sized (coffee-break-sized) chunks, with a diverse range of activities that allow you to work on vocab, grammar, speaking, reading comprehension and translation. Over all, I think this is a fun and practical way to learn language.

Fun and useful exercises for Italian learners. The coffee break style makes these quick and easy to pick up without feeling like it's a study session. In bocca al lupo!!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the digital copy for review

II was disappointed with this book. The premise was great but unfortunately the write up led me to believe that this was a beginner book. The first exercise was great but after that I was lost as I did not know any Italian to understand the activities. The second 5 minute exercise would have been ok to do had it not said that the answers were to be conjugated to the simple present tense according to the subject. After being lost on the 5 minute exercises I did not even try the longer ones.

it's a good way to refresh a language you study but seldom used. It's well done and I tried it with my mother tongue.
Well done, highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This has been great to help me brush up on my Italian. Throughout the book there are activities that will take you 5, 10 or 15 minutes to do, some more difficult than others. There are a variety of activities from vocabulary practice, reading tasks, grammar and writing tasks. You can start where ever you want Not necessarily At the beginning. There are activities about the weather, occupations, numbers etc. i found this beneficial and enjoyable. I’d say you’d need some Knowledge of Italian or be able to read Italian to get the most out of this book.

Thank you for the opportunity to read 50 Italian Coffee Breaks by Coffe Break Language's. Unfortunately it was not quite what I expected, it is more of a refresher of knowledge than a starter tool to learn, and unfortunately I don't have any previous Italian knowledge

You’ve got a coffee in front of you and 5, 10, 15 minutes to spare? What better time to acquire some language skills. Really liked the format and that the light-hearted tone leaves the usual dry textbook lingo aside.
With a variation of challenges from translations and recipes to anagrams and image descriptions, learning is never a dull repetition. The “solution” pages to the challenges not only give you the solution, but a detailed explanation - really helpful!
You won’t become a fluent Italian speaker just by reading this book, but as a refresher for existing knowledge it’s a fun way to set out whilst slurping your capuccino.
