As a fifty-something F**k up I totally associated with this character Nell. This is a warm funny book. Serious at times but immensely hilarious at others. (cricket and the dick pics!!!!!!)
Alexander Potter has put the everyday life of Nell into a humorous story. Many woman will associate with things in the story. I could also imagine my mum as Cricket an absolutely fabulous character.
A perfect holiday or pick you up read

I liked this - I’d read the first book when it first came out but didn’t reread it so was relieved that I didn’t need to be able to recall much. There were twists and turns and I didn’t know how it would all end, but it was a great journey to get there. Looking forward to reading the next book by this author.

I thought this book was far more enjoyable than the first one & I loved seeing more from Nell. Hers and Cricket's relationship made me smile loads - there's nothing I love more than strong female friendships in books!

Thank you very much for the ARC.

I loved the first book and as soon as I saw this one I had such high expectations. It starts off as a bit of a slow slog which I was disappointed about but keep with it, I promise you get the Nell you already love at some point.

This is the second instalment in the series and you’ll love the sequel almost just as much as the first book.

Nell is back and although we believe she has found her groove and is settled in life, this is far from the case. The story shows that we are rarely ever fully settled and even so, only for a few moments and phases in life. Nell’s chaotic life (as does the laughter) returns and through the twists and turns we reinstate the message and life is not a straight path.

Nell is so relatable for a modern day women and lays bare the things we all go through but sometimes are unwilling to share.

A must read!

Nell thinks she has finally figured her life out and what a great follow-up to the first book. This book is so relatable as a reminder that you can achieve that life goal but be prepared for any kind of obstacle to be thrown at you along the way.

I absolutely loved the first book by Alexandra Potter - but I struggled to get stuck in to this book. It was good to have a follow on but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book unfortunately.

This has sat on my netgalley TBR folder for far too long… apologies to netgalley, the publishers & the author for letting this one linger. I think I just loved the first book in this series so much that I was nervous to delve back into Nell’s world in case the sequel didn’t match up.

Well, I needn’t have worried. This book was blummin’ hilarious. Possibly better than the first one! It does touch on some serious themes for the group of friends, but the overall tone is very lighthearted and I couldn’t put this book down. I also switched between the ebook and the audiobook read by Sally Phillips (which, FYI, is currently included in Spotify premium) and I highly recommend the audiobook. Sally reads it perfectly.

The review tagline on the front cover hails this series as the new ‘Bridget Jones for our times’ and I wholeheartedly agree with that comment. You could read this as a standalone, but it would be better enjoyed in the correct reading order. Also, I have to add I prefer Nell and the gang as they are portrayed in the novels rather than the recent TV adaptation.

I highly recommend this novel to fans of the rom com genre. It is my favourite read of January so far. An easy 5 stars!

Excellent follow on from the first book. Completely relatable as a 40 year old! Thoroughly enjoyed both of these books.

I loved Nell's first confessions, and this did not disappoint as sequel. Life is just as challenging for Nell as it is for the rest of us. Alexandra Potter's writing is very readable, and it was enjoyable to catch up with Nell and her friends.

I was so excited to see that there was a sequel coming to one of my favorite reads of last year so I requested an ARC on Netgalley and was utterly delighted when I was accepted. I can only apologize for the late review (personal issues) Thank-you to @netgalley for for the ARC and the publisher and of course the Author

I was so happy to see Nell, Cricket and the gang back. When we last saw Nell her and Edward are in couple bliss, but this is Nell can life be that simple…..

A discarded pregnancy test found in Edwards bathroom bin makes Nell reevaluate her life and what she wants from it.

Nell finds herself single again, and goes to 'build your own coffin' class with the wonderful Cricket.

I found it sad that the pandemic dimmed Crickets sparkle, but only for a little while and we see Cricket once again be that light at the end of a tunnel for Nell with her life experience and outlook on life being contagious.

Being in my late 30s I found this relatable and funny, oh so funny, Alexander Potter had done it again and I look forward to reading more 😊

After not long reading the first book and enjoying it, I was looking forward to this one but wasn’t sure where else the storyline could go. However, this was a natural progression to the first book and I enjoyed getting back into the lives of these real characters and seeing how Nell managed the next stages of life. I thought it was well written, engaging, humorous and relatable and would definitely recommend.

I loved book one, so it was with slight trepidation that I began the next instalment. But my fears were misplaced. I loved this book just as much, if not more.

Wholly relatable, Nell is back, along with the wonderful Cricket. These two are just divine together. Inspiring, real, funny, wise. More Confessions is a feel good book that reminds us that yes, life is messy and hard - but therein lies the beauty. It isn't sickly sweet, it doesn't follow a predictably linear path and this is what I love about both books. It makes us feel that we're not alone in not having a clue what we're doing. It gives us hope that if we never stop learning and growing, we just might end up in an unexpected but happier place than where we began.

Brilliant, heart-warming, properly funny. I loved it.

I loved Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up and was over the moon to get the opportunity to read the followup. It does not disappoint. I loved reading more of Nell (I can relate to Nell on so many levels) and Cricket (I want Cricket as a friend too!) Heartwarming, hilarious, just absolutely brilliant. I really recommend.
Thank you Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the e-arc.

Having adored the first book, I had high hopes for this. Whilst I personally didn’t enjoy quite as much as the first, it was an entertaining read, and catching up with Cherished characters was wonderful.a

Consistently entertaining and great for a light read. I think I still prefer the first book, which felt fresh and original. Its hard to keep that element with a sequel.

More Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter was a great follow up to her previous book. It was great revisiting Nell and how her life has moved on since we previously were introduced to her. A fab follow up to the first book and hopefully there will be a third one to follow, an enjoyable read.

After thoroughly enjoying Confessions of a 40-Year-Old F***Up, I was so excited for a sequel.

We pick up around 18 months after the end of the first book, and are reintroduced to Nell, who seems to be settling into life better than she was before,

She is engaged to Edward, they are living together, and she has her trusted friendships, as well as her new best friend, Cricket, the octagenarian who she met in the first book.

The thing is, no matter how settled you think you are, life always has alternative plans, and Nell's life is no different.

From that late urge to want motherhood to dealing with the beginnings of Perimenopause, friendships becoming fragile as everyone is dealing with their own issues and realising you might not actually have it all quite figured out.

I loved getting back in touch with Nell and her life, and though our situations are different, there was still plenty I could relate to.

And I just LOVE Cricket! Her character develops in a brilliant way, too, showing us that age should never be a factor that writes you off.

Fantastic sequel!

Many thanks to NetGalley and PanMacmillan for an ARC.
