The Catch was an extremely cute, sweet and easy to read small town romance with all of my favourite tropes: grumpy x sunshine, fake dating and enemies to lovers.

I really loved this book. I didn't realise it was a part of a series as it reads well as a standalone but I'd be more than happy to read the initial two instalments!

The character development within this book was amazing, Melanie started this book being incredibly closed off to everyone, including her best friends! She's even lost boyfriends because of her surface level relationships. By the end, Melanie has opened up, she has worked on her flaws and become a generally better person.

I wish I had seen more of Evan's history and the angst between his mother and aunt. However, I really liked what we did see.

Overall, this book is the perfect palate cleanser or summer read! It's impossible to put down and there's never a dull moment.

Absolutely love Amy Lea and her style of writing. From the first page you are drawn in by the wit and authentic flow, yet there is a really clever depth to the characters and they are developed so well over the course of the story. You might think you know how this story will end, and yes, it is what you think… but how the characters get there takes you on a magical journey. I didn’t want to put this down! Can’t wait to read her next. Thank you NetGalley and publishers for the opportunity to review this book.

The last of Amy Lea's trilogy. Mel, the social media influencer, realises that she's actively closed her self off to people and that her followers are slowly decreasing. So, when offered a trip to Nova Scotia, to experience a popular spa, she jumps at the chance.

That's when everything falls apart, including her barriers...

I really enjoyed this book and the relationships that grow throughout, as well as Mel's own self-growth.

I am a MASSIVE lover of the influencer series, and the first two books hold such a special place in my heart, but unfortunately this one was very middle-ground for me. I still enjoyed reading it and totally devoured it, and I am so grateful to of received an ARC, I enjoyed this book so much but it’s still my least favourite in the series. I feel like the fake dating/fiance trope was a little forced, but still if it brings them together, it brings them together! I absolutely love Mel and I’m so glad she finally got her story, Evan’s family are an absolute dream and I can’t think of a book character that deserves to be loved by a big family as much as she does!

The setting, the characters and the whole idea of this book was right up my alley and I absolutely couldn’t wait to start it, but as I got closer and closer to the end, I was like, surely it’s not over already? It’s like these characters went from hate to love in about 12 hours. Whilst I know that this story happened over a short period of time, it just didn’t feel realistic. That being said, I would instantly fall in love too if I was either one of these characters because they are both people of dreams. I just wish we could’ve seen more of them falling in love, so their story could feel a little more ‘complete.’

As readers, we saw Melanie dig so much into her past and really connect her emotional issues to events that she has experienced in the past. I adored how much we got to know her as a main character, I just wish we could’ve learned more about Evan as he almost felt like a background character to me. I loved his family, but at the beginning, he wanted to hate Melanie for the most shallow and superficial reasons, and their rapid relationship just didn’t sit right with me. A dual POV would’ve been perfect for this book, so we could’ve seen more to Evan than his awful first impression and grumpy comments. But, in the end, it was written to be Melanie’s love story so we can’t have it all. I’m so sad this series is over, I can’t wait to see what this author comes out with next!

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House for emailing me an eARC of this one!

This was the perfect last instalment to this series!
I loved the slow burn and the fake dating while including heavier topics such as death and family conflicts.
I will definitely be recommending this book

This was ‘It Happened One Summer’ meets the film ‘The Proposal’ and it just so fun to read, I flew through it!

It had some of my favourite tropes, grumpy x sunshine, fake dating/fiancé and small town romance.

Very bingable book with a surprising depth to the characters!

I absolutely adored this book! I read this whilst on holiday and I can confirm that it’s a perfect holiday read!

The main thing I loved about this story is that it’s actually got so much depth! I love a grumpy sunshine trope but it always works so much better when there’s a reasoning behind the grumpiness and I loved that there was with Evan, he was such a loveable character. I found Mel’s background really interesting to read too but the overall stars of the book for me were Evan and his family. I love a small town trope and this was absolutely no exception, I really enjoyed hearing more about the family and seeing how they were all brought together, it was really heartwarming, especially after reading all of what they all went through.

The relationship between Evan and Mel was written perfectly, it was never rushed, never seemed unbelievable at any point, it was just the right pace which made a huge difference to the story. They were brilliant together and I loved seeing both the characters develop throughout.

It was fun, humorous, emotional and hugely enjoyable! I really did love everything about it. I couldn’t wait to pick it up again when I’d stopped reading and it was all down to the brilliant written characters and their chemistry

This was a cute and quick palette cleanser.

If you enjoy small town romances, forced proximity and fake-dating you will eat this up!

I found the FMC, Mel, difficult to get on with just because her personality is stubborn to the point of stupidity and spite, but as she kind of acknowledges these problems herself it was enjoyable to see her ease up and learn to feel emotions. I enjoyed the banter and relationship between her and the Whalers, and I thought it was great to see the MMC, Evan, also open up as a character after initially being the surly grump.
This book gave me MASSIVE ‘The Proposal’ vibes, so it was impossible for me to dislike tbh 😂

Even though I didn’t realise this book was the third in a series, I don’t think not knowing this spoiled anything for me, and I’m looking forward to reading Amy Lea’s other books.

The Catch is by FAR my favourite in the series so far! It has so many of my favourite tropes and I completely devoured it in one sitting.

I fell completely in love with Melanie & Evan - plus his family was just the cutest!

I do wish we’d seen slightly more of the angst between Evan’s mum and her sister.

The Catch by Amy Lea is the third book from the Influencer series. Don’t worry it’s a standalone, so you don’t have to read previous books (though I also recommend them!).
It’s a small town love story, where a girl from a big city, Melanie comes to fishing village in Canada. Of course, her trip becomes a problem when she finds out, that she can’t stay at the booked hotel. Desperate to find a place to stay, Melanie knocks on the door of less than good hostel. Meet Evan, a grumpy Canadian fisherman who seems to despise Melanie from the beginning. He tries to fed rid of Boston fashion influencer who’s extremely critical and at the same time a little bit cute… So one day when Melanie and Evan go on a boat, they start fighting and this way or another… Evan ends up in a water almost drowning. Mel feels responsible for his accident and so when his family visits him in the hospital assuming that Mel is Evan’s fiancée, she goes on with a lie. Evan and Mel agree to pretend to be a couple in order to save the B&B and created good content for Mel’s social media. They both seem to barley stand each other, but the arguments and time spent together changes their feelings for each other. The Catch is a great written sweet and witty novel. It’s a book about forgiveness, loss, and what you’re able to leave for real love. Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Catch.
I loved Mel as a character, and from when she first meets Evan, their chemistry was undeniable. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. All the side characters were perfect and written so well.

The Catch has some of the best tropes; opposites attract, enemies to lovers, fake dating, all set in a small town and with similarities to one of my favourite films, While You Were Sleeping.

This was such a cute, easy read romance. I would love to read more about Mel and Evan!

Thank you so much to the publishers and Netgalley for my ARC copy.

Following a disillusioned fashion influencer who finds her way back to herself in the most unexpected place, The Catch is not only packed with Amy’s signature sparkle and banter, but also with all your fave rom-com tropes and themes, making it the perfect speedy summer read.

fave things:
• immaculate vibes of Cora’s Cove
• great side characters
• family dynamics
• cameos from our faves (Tara/Trevor 4ever) (…4evor?)
• the final solution to the conflict
• Evan’s plaid shirts xo
• Mel’s not vilified for the choices she makes about her body

Authors need to stop destroying my brand by giving me yet more blonde MMCs to fancy — I have a REPUTATION to uphold, Amy!!!

tropes:
· small town
· opposites attract
· only one bed
· insta love
· forced proximity
· fake engagement

I loved this story. Ticked many boxes for me:

✅️ City girl x Small town boy

✅️ Grumpy x Sunshine

✅️ Fake dating/fiancée

✅️ Opposites attract

✅️ Found family

I adored Evan and Melanie's relationship and the chemistry they had. Practically set the book on fire. I love that they help each other heal from past traumas and support one another even when it seems hopeless.

The pace was perfect I only wish we had more of the third act and epilogue but what we got was brilliant.

As well as Mel and Evan the siblings, cousins and extended family were wonderful. I had Betty White in my head for Nana because she was hilarious and feisty.

If you like the above tropes and want something full of love, humour and a little spice then this is for you!

I can't wait for more from Amy Lea.

Side note: I've been left with a massive craving for Poutin.

A fantastic end to The Influencers series. Is it the best book of the series? No. But it's a solid 4 stars. Mel is a dream, one of my favourite FMC of the series, and Evan is dreamy. I loved the side characters, the setting and the pacing was perfect. I wish we could get a follow up following the inn!

I flew through this story. Amy Lea’s work is some of my favourite, and this didn’t disappoint. I liked the location, the descriptions of which were beautifully described.
Usually, this kind of romance isn’t my favourite but the way Amy wrote it had me invested. I loved the way the two characters chipped away at one another, and there were moments where I just wanted to shake them both. When they began to see one another for who they were, they fall so heavy for one another and I didn’t mind in the slightest.
I loved Mel, from the moment we meet her. The way she’s trying to hold everything together and slowly begins to choose herself made me beam.
The ending had me grinning and I was so happy with how it all came together.

Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

Where to start with this one? Ex's and O's was brilliant and when i saw this, i knew i had to read it asap!
Mel and Evan's story was just perfect. Who doesn't love enemies to lovers trope? Definitely one of my favourite tropes ever! Amy Lea is on my watch list and she has a fan in me for life!

I read a review that described this as a palate cleanser and I couldn't have put it better myself. A light read following Mel, an influencer, as she embarks upon a gifted stay gone wrong. She turns up at the resort to be informed they had messed up the dates and could not accommodate her for another week. With no other choice, she hops on to Air Bnb and secures a booking an Ethan's Inn... much to his dissatisfaction.

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Books for the ARC of this amazing book! I don’t rate books 5 stars easily, I LOVED this book and I have broken down my review below:

⭐️ When Evan and Mel were both initially introduced, I instantly knew that I would love the book and the characters. I love a good opposites attract/grumpy-sunshine trope!

⭐️ The small town feel was such a dream, I could just picture being there and it actually made me feel so summery (which is amazing as the UK weather at the moment is so on and off).

⭐️ The side characters made this book really special, I loved Evan’s family, in particular Lucy. But also Mel’s brother and friends were a great support system. The trauma from the past for both Mel and her brother Julian was interesting to read about and I loved that the author added that level of depth.

⭐️ I feel that Evan was very emotionally aware and vocal about his feelings which was lovely as Mel was definitely more closed off. They just balanced each other out perfectly!

⭐️ If you love outdoorsy books with small town Romance, grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract tropes then YOU NEED TO READ THIS. I will finish the review off with a quote from the book which I LOVED:

“And for the first time, I realise my absurdly large, waste-of-space dining table for twelve is entirely full. I even need a thirteenth chair.”
