Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 6th June.

Someone In The Attic starts with the words: “Three minutes before it happens…” From there on in be prepared to keep turning the pages ‘ til you reach the end this book! It highly addictive I couldn’t get enough of it!

I throughly enjoyed it, the plot had many of twists and turns that kept me captivated and intrigued to find out what would happen next.

Overall, a fantastic book with very well written characters! Andrea Mara does it again with a one-sitting kind of rollercoaster that will have you absolutely captivated from the very first line! 😊

Anya is relaxing in her bath when she hears a noise upstairs. Thirty seconds later, Anya is dead. Across town, Anya’s old school friend Julia is settling in to her new home with her family and watches a disturbing video of a masked man climbing out of an attic. Julia is horrified when she realises that the footage is of her house, located in a gated community. Why would a stranger target Julia? Or is it a stranger at all?

Andrea has done it once again! By far the creepiest of her thrillers (I will never be able to look up into the attic space again!), Someone in the Attic is a one-sitting kind of rollercoaster that will have you absolutely captivated from the very first line.

I’ve read all of Andrea’s books and can categorically state that this is her best book yet. With twists and red herrings to make you doubt everything that you’ve read and what the characters are saying, this story will appeal to thriller readers who like a creepy vibe to their stories. It’s disturbing and one hell of a story (Andrea is the master of giving her readers a story that will mess with your head and raise the blood pressure just a little bit too!). This is going to be a massive hit this summer!

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK for the arc. Someone in the Attic is out on June 6th. Maybe don’t read it in the dead of night though 🫣

There are so many fantastic Irish crime writers out there at the moment and Andrea Mara is riight there with the best of them. This was a great read, it had it all, the hook, the thrills, the plotting and the pace. It also had fantastic characters, three modern women who drew you in and made me feel invested in their lives, so much so, it was hard to put the book down!
Thanks to the publisher for my advance copy. A whip smart read from a writer at the very top of her game.

Disturbing, Compulsive..
When an online video is circulated, Julia is baffled but not immediately unduly concerned, It’s something and nothing - isn’t it? Not real? But, things are soon to take a terrifying turn. With a pacy narrative, a propulsive plot populated with a wholly credible and deftly drawn cast of characters and an unsettling premise which duly delivers, this is an immersive read which is disturbing and compulsive in equal measure,

''I'm not afraid of being alone in the dark, I'm afraid that I'm not alone''

Andrea Mara does it again! This is the third Andrea Mara book that I've read now and every single time I've been completely hooked from page one. She has such a gripping and fast paced writing style with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing the whole time! I absolutely devoured this book.

4.5 stars rounded up!

Devoured this. I just couldn’t work out who was good and who was bad and who was being truthful. As soon as you think oh that’s obvious you realise it’s just a clever alley the writer has took you down. Keeps you guessing to the end. Love this author.

I really liked the first 30% of the book, but unfortunately it stopped working due to an error so I couldn't finish it!
Saying that I really liked what I did read and will purchase a copy once it's available ☺

Anya wants a quiet bath to plot her next relationship move in peace. She can hear noises in the roof but they’re nothing to worry about. Until a masked figure exits the attic, drops down to the floor and less than a minute later, Anya is dead. Her old school friend Julia watches a video of an intruder climbing down from her attic, a house set in a gated community. That is, a house that’s really difficult to get into. She cannot understand who it is or why they’re finding her house so interesting. Could the murder and the masked figure be connected – and if so, how? With this novel, I really think Andrea’s novels have stepped up a notch. It’s chilling in places, with ample red herrings to keep readers on the alert.

Ok, so I should know by now not to start reading an novel by Andrea Mara in the evening time. Why? Because her novels are simply UNPUTDOWNABLE and I always end up reading into the early hours. Sigh, of course, I never learn as I'm always so eager to read her books. And this time around was no different.
"Someone In The Attic" is deliciously creepy and plays on that fear that maybe, just maybe there could be someone watching. With a combination of flashbacks to explain a tragic event of twenty years ago, and frequent references to a shadowy event in the US, it is hard to tell just who is being truthful. And the multiple PoVs, serve to provide the reader with a variety of viewpoints, but with contradicting opinions, it's difficult to know who is being honest and, this adds to the slowly building tension.
Absolutely worth a read, even if I keep glancing at the Attic with suspicion now.

What can I say another great book from this author, it was just brilliant, I was glued to it from beginning to end and I was listening in the night for sounds from my own attic and looking over my shoulder and one thing about it is if the smaller people in your house tell you their is someone in your house believe them and don’t ignore them..this story goes back and forth a bit from present to past but wraps up beautifully at the end and is so so good…

A compelling read. The style of writing irked me a little but none the less I felt this strong urge to continue. There were lots of side threads but everything was tied up neatly at the end.

Once again, Andrea Mara knocks it out of the park!! Her writing is phenomenal, the suspense, the twist, the thinking I've solved it when I haven't a clue!! Excellent story line with smaller story lines interlinked within the book. Will admit it kept me checking my attic hatch!

I enjoyed reading this book. I did work out who the killer was quite early, but then there were enough red herrings to make me doubt myself, and I got caught up in the story and was clueless again until the reveal when I was able to say to myself that I knew all along ! Good book well worth a read.

I love Andrea’s book and was thrilled to be given the chance to read and review. However I wasn’t expecting to be so spooked that I needed to sleep with the light on!

The book starts with an extremely shocking incident in which a stranger, dressed head to toe in black, exits a loft and commits a violent crime.

Julia, who has recently relocated her family back to Ireland from San Diego, becomes aware of an online trend where there’s a person hiding in the attic, who exits and creeps around houses. Lots of copycats of this but the family are perturbed when a video appears on an anonymous account. The house shown is clearly the one they are renting. When the video is taken down, Julia thinks this is the end but more videos are mysteriously posted.

This book had me thinking that everyone in the story was a suspect. This story is multi levelled and very cleverly written with a few red herrings that caught me out. I loved this book - but it will make you look twice at your loft hatch!

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.

I’ve read several books by the author and they have all been gripping and compelling reads. Someone in the Attic is no different, it’s a creepy, intense, atmospheric and gripping novel that I read over the course of a few hours.
Julia has moved back to Dublin from the US and plans to catch up with her old school friends Eleanor and Anya. However Anya does not turn up as her body is found in her bath after she heard noises in her attic. Julia’s son then tells her he hears noises in the attic of their new home while her daughter sees TikTok videos that appear to be filmed in their house. The premise alone is so creepy and terrifying and the author has written a genuine page turner full of interesting characters and red herrings. I could not put this novel down and felt that I was holding my breath throughout.
An outstanding and satisfying thriller.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.

WOW! Andrea Mara has done it again! What a book!

From the very first word to the end of the resolution, I was completely invested in this story. The characters were so vivid and real that I honestly felt like I was right there with them. And even though I tried my best to figure things out alongside the characters, I had it very wrong until very close to the end. This is a very well-paced story with the perfect amount of a plausible spooky factor that had me questioning all the noises I heard in my house for a good few nights.

I can see this book being even a bigger hit than NO ONE SAW A THING and that says something. Someone said this is her best work and I wholeheartedly agree - we would need a 6th star to properly rate it.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and, of course, Andrea Mara for the chance to read this ARC in return for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Julia has moved back to Ireland from the States with her two children and her ex husband. She arranges to meet up with her two long standing friends. But one of them doesn’t arrive, and it’s because she’s died. Julia’s young son then keeps saying that someone is living in the attic, but no one can find evidence of anyone living there.

This was another great banger from this author. It was the perfect mix of creepy and atmospheric. There was also sub stories playing out through the book, also upping the chill factor. The characters were all well written, and I really liked Julia. Although, she did come across as naive occasionally, but this was perfect for the story to play out. A great read for psychological thriller fans.

With many thanks to Netgalley for this free arc and I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily

This had me at the first chapter. I really do like the way Andrea Mara writes, all her books have a wonderful flow to them. Always full of suspense, secrets and red herrings, but boy has she excelled herself with this one. This is super creepy, highly addictive and keeps you on the edge of your seat. The author has the dynamic of the characters spot on and I loved the interaction within the story. The tension throughout was palpable and the storyline perfectly plotted. This will definitely make you want to check your loft space! Another winner from Andrea and cements her place as one of my go-to authors.

Someone in the Attic is the second book I’ve read by Andrea Mara, and it’s my favourite so far. It’s very creepy and tense, and had me on edge while reading more than once. It’s a tightly plotted twisty-turny thriller, and I enjoyed every page. As usual, none of my guesses were correct, and I was pleasantly surprised by the ending!

I’ve always found the idea of strangers coming into my house at night (or any time, really) absolutely terrifying, and as luck would have it that’s the premise of this book. Ha! Videos are appearing of masked figures emerging from people’s attics, and the latest shows it happening right in main character Julia’s home. This turn of events sets in motion a thrilling story that unfolds between a group of old friends, with many a red herring thrown in for good measure. When I say I was hooked, I really do mean it!

Andrea Mara’s writing is so easy and accessible to read, with short chapters and a fast-paced plot that allows for absolutely no let-up. I was glued to the pages from start to finish, and I was sad to see it end. It was a great ending though, and not at all what I thought was going to happen (I’m the world’s worst at guessing plot twists, so I wasn’t at all surprised).

If you’re a fan of intelligent, addictive thrillers, Andrea Mara’s books are a must-read. Someone in the Attic is such a good example of the genre, and it’s definitely made Andrea an instant-buy author for me. I’m off to buy her back catalogue now, and no doubt I’m in for a thrilling treat!

I love this authors books and this book definitely has the creep factor and I will never look at my attic in the same way again! The characters are well written and the plot wasn't ridiculous like some thrillers can be! The book does go between past and present which shows you how the events are linked. I would highly recommend this book if your a fan of the authors work and someone who loves thrillers and this is overall a quick read. Thanks to netgalley and random house for this arc
