I was already a firm fan of Falon Ballard’s and reading Right in Cue has only further cemented her as an absolute autobuy author for me. I absolutely love Ballard’s writing style and the characters she creates. Right on Cue was such a fun read and one I’d thoroughly recommend.
Right on Cue is the story of Emmy Harper, a beloved nepo baby screenwriter who is producing her first romcom in years. Following problems with casting the female lead Emmy finds herself not only having written the film but starring in it. Having not acted in decades Emmy is ready for the challenge. The problem, however, is that she’s forced to act alongside her sworn nemesis, action heartthrob, Grayson West. And so begins a brilliant enemies to lovers, close quarters, working together romance, with excellent chemistry and sizzling tension.
The premise of this one was so much fun. It was such a knowing rom com, where we have a romance writer, acting in a rom com movie, knowing all the tropes, whilst living them herself and falling in love in a brilliant enemies to lovers. Later in the story Emmy actually says then ‘I release the breath I totally knew I was holding’ and honestly I grinned like the Chesire Cat, I love so much that Ballard included that! It was such a fun and self aware read, I just couldn’t get enough.
I really liked both of the main characters and thought they worked really well together. The evolution of enemies, to co stars with benefits to falling for one another worked very well. The sparky banter between them was pitch perfect and so much fun. I will admit, however, to being frustrated with Emmy and not giving Grayson the benefit of the doubt in the third act break and willing her to have not fled when she did. That said, the resolution was a satisfying one.
Overall I really enjoyed this one.

Thank you Netgalley and Headline Eternal for an eArc of this book!
Who knew the best kind of Rom-Com was about two people starring in a Rom-Com!
This was the first book I have read by Falon Ballard and it was everything I could want out of a romance book!
It had one of the most fun plot lines with the two main characters staring side by side in a movie. This was a mild enemies to lovers book with all the best parts of that trope!

I absolutely love Fallon Ballard and especially her writing a Hollywood themed novel is chefs kiss! I will be sharing a full review and thoughts very soon!
