Really loved this, it was fun and grisly, although I felt terrible for poor Antoni (I won't include that spoiler in my Goodreads review, obviously!). I did guess the twist quite a way out and I was trying to work out for - maybe the blurb have me a heads up? Nevertheless this was a summer delight.

I loved this book!! There is nothing better than reading a story and believing its going to turn out one way and then it completely throws you and goes a way you never even thought of.
Loved the setting, I really need a trip to the Maldives at some point in my life.
Really really enjoyed this author and wouldn't hesitate to read anything by her

Bad Tourists is a great summer beach read for those who want suspense, drama and vibrant characters, set against the backdrop of an idyllic setting.

Each of the main characters had a unique perspective and voice, and the twists and turns along the way kept me engaged and excited to see what came next. I laughed, flinched and reflected along with the characters throughout, all signs of a well-written story.

I found elements of part one somewhat confusing as the story built but the payoff and character arcs in part two were definitely worthwhile and moved the story along at an appropriate pace.

Would definitely recommend to thriller lovers and those looking for something with a summer setting.

I really enjoyed this twisty thriller, the three main characters Darcy, Camilla & Kate were relatable and realistic, I honestly didn’t see the twist coming though I knew things weren’t quite as cut and dried as they seemed.
The beautiful Maldivian setting was picturesque and at odds with the dark plot but the writing was steadily paced and easy to read.
I will definitely read more by this author.

Wow what a great book! There are so many twists and turns, so much suspicion yet I didn't see the full twist coming so still left with a great shocker!!

Books like these are my absolute guilty pleasure.
Luxury holiday location.. Check! Strong, likeable, over 40's female character leads... Check!
Honest to god, non predictable mystery.. Check, check. Check!!
You can't go wrong here, apart from maybe sitting on some tropical beach sipping a cocktail whilst ready it maybe?
Thank u for this arc #NetGalley of #BadTourist I adored the escapism. Apart from living down the road to Dover maybe?!! and also Dover isn't a city which it's referred to in the book. But most definitely the book worth 5 stars, cheers!

I read an eARC of this book so thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley.

This was my third book from this author (the two others under her horror author name) and we are three for three on five star reads! This is a gripping thriller set on a beautiful island resort in The Maldives. We follow three women in their forties who are on a trip of a lifetime to celebrate the divorce of Darcy whose marriage to her rich tech innovator husband has ended. While on their trip, things are not as they seem and they become embroiled in the issues of a newly married couple.

I loved that we had characters in their forties. They were so well-rounded and interesting, unique in their personalities without feeling cliched. With decades of experience to justify the fury bubbling beneath the surface of each of them. For this is a book about rage. We have three women who are dealing with some horrendous trauma.

This was a really clever thriller and I’d love to deep dive into some of the themes more but I can’t without giving away spoilers! I will say I didn’t see the resolution coming! This has a very cool setting with layers of intrigue and misdirection! Great fun!

A brilliantly twisted plot and a range of intriguing characters kept me enthralled throughout as three unlikely friends, linked only by tragedy, embark on a luxury holiday together. There are so many twists and turns that the ending comes as a shock.

Couldn't put this one down! A massacre in Dover 22 years ago, three middle aged women on holiday in the Maldives, Maldive honeymooners where the wife is terrified, a 12 year old who suddenly hates his mum. Mix all these together and you've got Bad Tourists. A brilliant book with lots of twists and an incredible totally unexpected ending. Definitely one to read if you love a good thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy. All opinions are my own.

At the start I found the book very confusing… too many POVs that changed between past and present, and too many characters to get your head around.

Then towards the middle of the book is when I got properly invested and absolutely loved it. I thought I had the plot twist figured out but turns out I didn’t really.

The last part’s action was unbelievable and kept me at the edge of my seat.

I just wished that the book was constructed in a difficult way with less POVs to make it more flowy but I do understand why it was needed.

Three women, Kate, Camilla and Darcy, who are very different, take a trip together to the Maldives. The trip is for Darcy to relax after her divorce. Another woman, Jade, is also on the islands but her honeymoon isn't going well. She meets Kate and this helps her deal with her own problems.

I liked the book a lot! I didn't know this was the author's first thriller but thought it was very well-written. The characters seemed real and the story had lots of twists and turns. I also enjoyed the descriptions of the Maldives. I couldn't stop reading and I would recommend this book to others.

WOW WOW WOW - gripped from the very first chapter. A destination thriller covering dual timelines. A trio of women intrinsically linked by their pasts - an event that changed their lives forever!

Do you believe in coincidences!? The truth will always work its way to the surface. Completely jaw dropping and unable to second guess!

377 pages of pure brilliance. I held my breath the whole way through - completely hooked and totally binge worthy! An easy 5 stars from me!!

Perfect for those who enjoy:
- Perfect beach reading fiction
- Heart in your mouth storylines
- Stay up all night addictive reading
- Can’t read fast enough fiction

With thanks to Random House UK, Transworld Publishers, Bantam and Netgalley for an ARC copy in return for an honest review.

A tragedy from the past links Kate, Camilla and Darcy, 3 women who would never normally have been friends. Darcy invites them on her 'divorce holiday' to the Maldives, a chance for some well needed relaxation.
Jade is on her honeymoon with husband Rob, but he's a changed man and she fears for her marriage, a meeting with Kate gives her the strength to act on her fears.
I love the gothic books by C J Cooke and didn't realise this book was also by her. As a 'debut' thriller it was spot on, the characters were fully dimensional and their responses were realistic. There were characters you love to hate and plenty of shocks and surprises along the way. The description of the setting in the maldives was perfect.
It's fair to say this book is a massive winner in my eyes, I couldn't put it down and raced through it.

I really enjoyed this book, it really kept me guessing and was the perfect whodunnit. I loved the Maldives setting and could really imagine all of the characters personalities.

My only tiny downside was there was a lot of characters and I did keep getting them mixed up at the beginning. Overall, a really enjoyable read that I’m sure will be a summer hit.

It's a girls trip to the Maldives and celebrations are in order. Darcy's divorce to control freak Jacob has been finalised and to celebrate she has bought along three friends.. As the drinks flow and sunscreen applied, secrets and horrors are revealed.
Darcy, Kate and Camilla are friends united by a massacre that occurred 22 years ago at a Dover guest house where six young people were murdered. Kate was the only survivor while Camila's twin brother perished. As the ladies start their holiday they meet a young couple of newlyweds, Jade and Rob ,only it become quickly apparent that theirs is not a marriage made in heaven but rather a case of domestic abuse. Soon both parties will become intertwined and the real story of what happened all those years ago will be discovered.
This is a well thought out murder mystery, with a great twist I didn't see coming. A great summer read.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this.

Bad Tourists by Caro Carver is an absolutely stunning book! I adore C.J. Cooke's gothic thrillers and I love a murder mystery so as soon as I heard Bad Tourists was coming out it went straight on my wish list.

The book follows three friends Darcy, Camilla and Kate on their luxury holiday to the Maldives to celebrate Darcy's recent divorce. The friends are bound together by a traumatic shared past which they are all keen to leave behind... Or so it seems. Be prepared for twists and turns in an ingenious, murderous revenge plot.

The other books I've read by the same author have been very clever so I had high hopes for this one, and they were exceeded and then smashed!! The plot is compelling and gripping. C.J. Cooke only writes strong, interesting, and complex female characters and Bad Tourists continues the pattern. Ultimately all of the women in the book are angry and therefore we end up with a sort of meditation on female rage, it brings up provocative questions about why we believe certain actions by women are unbelievable. Although this book is the perfect beach read it is so much more!

Bad Tourists is a compelling and superior ‘destination’ thriller with plenty of twists that I could not put down.
The novel starts in a guesthouse in Dover in 2001 and then moves forward to 22 years later when three friends- Kate, Camilla and Darcy- set off for a trip to the Maldives. The friends met on a Facebook support group supporting bereaved relatives of a guesthouse massacre, Kate is a survivor of the massacre and Camilla’s brother and Darcy’s boyfriend were both murdered.
What I really loved about Bad Tourists is its original take on this genre of thriller and the twists which were so completely unexpected. I had my suspicions about various characters throughout the novel but the plot went in a direction I did not expect. The characters were well drawn, I loved the setting and overall this was a gripping and enjoyable read. Recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC,

Fast paced, thrilling with likeable characters. This is not my usual genre but I’m gradually dipping my toe in and I must say this does the whole genre complete justice. Added to my favourite authors list!
