A family drama with lots of twists and family lies.
Jean is on her wedding day when her sister's arrive with her two children in a boat and a tragic accident happens and her small son falls overboard out of the arms of her sister, the wedding is cancelled and the sisters are torn apart.
A bit of a slow burner with a great twist at the end.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC and I give my honest review.

I love Fiona Barton's writing and her stories and this one was no exception. The story is full of twists and turns with likeable and not so likeable characters. It is good to see the progression of the character of Saul Anguish and to find out more about his own story. Would recommend.

“A four-foot box, a foot for every year.”
Wow. This book. I had a feeling Some of Us Are Liars was going to be something special from the moment I read that opening quote. Fiona Cummins’ writing is incredibly good. She doesn’t just tell a story – she breathes life into it with the kind of observational detail that makes you pause and re-read a sentence just to appreciate how perfectly it’s phrased. An absolute masterclass in show, don’t tell.
The timelines do bounce back and forth, and I found myself flipping pages to keep the track, but honestly, that’s a small price to pay for such a layered and emotionally raw story. The characters are beautifully flawed, deeply human and relatable, and the weight of grief and guilt is explored in ways that made my heart ache. Full of tension, there were moments when I literally held my breath.
And let’s just take a moment to appreciate the twists. So many. So jaw-dropping. Completely left me reeling, as did the ending.
This was my first time reading this author but it won’t be my last. I was ready to add her entire back catalogue to my TBR list by about chapter 4. I was hooked, shocked, heartbroken and completely in awe of the way this story unfolded.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. An easy 5 stars from this reader who doesn’t give them lightly.

Some Of Us Are Liars is a compelling read, that moves across several timelines and PoV to tell the story of a truly tragic event that has torn a family apart.
We have the Kellaway family with Jen's wedding and her sister's Winter (a world famous actress) and youngest sister, Alyssa. Each sibling had their own issue and emotional baggage leading upto the wedding. And there is also the detective Saul - a well-known figure to Fiona Cummins fans.
I can instantly engaged in the storyline of the Kellaways and it took me a little longer to understand the role of Saul in the story. But, I soon came to see his importance and the twists were fantastic, with a truly breathtaking ending.

I absolutely loved this book by Fiona Cummins. Told across multiple timelines and from several points of view, this book grabbed my attention from the very beginning and kept me hooked. Secrets, lies, complicated family dynamics, jealousy, suspense…this book has all of them and is really well written!! I highly recommend it 👏🏼❤️

Another excellent book from Fiona Cummings. A very enjoyable read and so interesting how the various characters interlinked. Definitely to be recommended.

As always, Fiona Cummins has produced a clever thriller with what appears to be a straightforward event turns to tragedy with huge consequences. What should be a wonderful family wedding of Jen Miller results in a death - with sister pitted against sister. Of course, these are no ordinary sisters, one happens to be a major celebrity acotr/model Winter Kellaway.
Saul, our favourite detective is also back and his relationship with Blue seems to be going somewhere but at a very slow pace.
The two strands are brought together with an intriguing story of a family tragedy. The stories are carefully and cleverly woven together and the ending is extremely satisfying.
Fiona Cummins never disappoints...

A really gripping family thriller, 4 stars.
I presume that the leading detective Saul Anguish has his own series or at least another book with more backstory - that said Some of Us Are Liars worked just fine as a standalone book. Saul's addition to the plot and his own story arc seemed unnecessary.
Overall the main family drama is incredibly pacey, with intriguing characters and lots of twists.

Fiona Cummins has created here an excellent, twisting, thought provoking novel.
You get drawn in through the pages slowly thinking you know what is happening what did happen and what is going to happen but you are wrong.
The twists are brilliantly thought through with an honesty that makes you think this scenario actually happened and you are reading a documentary on an actual crime.
The twist at the end begs for a follow through for the detectives.
Read it you will love it.

This is a book you have to keep reading to keep up with all the twists and turns, emotions galore, some truly awful characters and heartbreaking moments.
I don’t think I’ve read a book with so many interlinked stories that shock you as they are revealed. The final shock makes me hungry for the next book…. There will be one wont there?! Strongly recommended!
Thank you to Netgalley the author and publishers for an arc in exchange for an honest review

Overall this is a a good, solid read. It had the usual twists and turns and is well written. It kept me engaged but I wasn't wowed by it. Still enjoyed it and I would recommend it.

This book follows the story of the three Kellaway sisters after a heartbreaking tragedy. Interwoven with the past, the story is a little slow to begin with, but gathers pace in the second half.
The story of Saul and Blue continues from the earlier book, though in a much less prevalent way.
An enjoyable read that I flew through in a few days.

4.75 stars rounded up. Crikey, this is a read and a half…! It tells the story of three sisters and their extended family, and what happens to them all when their worst nightmare happens and an accident takes the life of one of the sisters’ children… past events come into the mix and it’s a complicated tangle of emotions. It is a slower pace for quite a while and you done wonder why certain bits are featured, but bear with it as it all becomes clear towards the end. The only reason I knocked 1/4 star off was because I wasn’t a huge fan of Saul Anguish or his habits like keeping mementoes… but it looks like he’s a necessary for the likely follow on book…
I received a free ARC copy of this via NetGalley and the publishers in return for an unbiased review.

The first half of this book is quite slow, and I was wondering when it would pick up the pace. Well, rest assured that it certainly does, and when it does, there is shock after shock!
Saul and Blue do not feature much in this one, but there is a turn of events for Blue, which rocks their relationship.
This is about the Kellaway sisters and the shocking event that tests them all to the limit. The timeline goes back and forth from when they were children and their jealousness to the present day and the lead up to the court case.
Once the pace picked up, I couldn't put it down, and I just had to finish this to find out what happened at the end. Who is telling the truth, and who is lying?
It didn't disappoint. I wasn't expecting that!
What next for Saul and Blue? I look forward to reading the next one.
Thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Another Saul Anguish story is something to celebrate, but this book kept him on the periphery of the mystery of who is responsible for a family tragedy, in which three sisters end up on opposing sides in a courtroom. Interwoven into their story is another harrowing tale of an alcoholic man who murdered his wife and children three decades earlier. Meanwhile, Saul continues to intrigue as a maverick policeman with dark secrets of his own.
I could not put this book down! Every single page was fraught with tension and deep, dark emotion and I couldn't wait to see how the two stories of past and present tragedy would knit together.
The loss of a child is a very dark subject matter, but the author keeps us away from despair with her insight into sibling relationships as we see the sisters' once strong-relationship develop, occasionally fracture, repair, then break - seemingly for ever.
I loved the suspense of this story, and the way every single thread finally drew seamlessly together in a resolution that held many final surprises for the reader.
And as a fan of Saul Anguish, I can't wait for the continuing story of his tortured life! Roll on the next book.

Great psychological thriller by Fiona Cummins. The story follows the aftermath of a tragic accident that occurs on what should have been one of Jen Miller’s happiest days, her wedding. What follows is an unfolding of family trauma, deceit and secrets, told through a number of POV’s that are brilliantly interwoven to read a great conclusion. The character development was excellent and the plot twists I did not see coming, keeping me turning the pages at pace! A solid 4 star rating from me.

Some of us are liars by Fiona Cummins is a fascinating read about a family with three sisters. The eldest daughter Winter is a famous actor, the middle daughter, Jen has two children and is married to Phil but was married with just the four of them at the wedding and Alyssa, the youngest, who has just had her first baby with Federico.
It is agreed that the rest of the family and friends will all come together at Winter’s lavish home to have another wedding ceremony with family and friends present.
There is an incident on a pleasure boat taking the family to the wedding and Phil and Jen are at the jetty waiting for them to arrive. Unfortunately Alyssa is holding Teddy and momentarily holds him over the rail over the water and there is a sudden movement and Teddy falls into the water. He dies later in hospital.
There is a court case with Alyssa accused of being responsible for Teddy’s death.
However there are secrets being kept and all is not what it seems. It is inevitable in a court case like this that the truth will come out that will affect all of the family. Saul Anguish plays a peripheral role in uncovering some of the secrets.
Highly recommended

I've read some of the authors previous books and this is definitely the best so far. A great thriller with plenty of twists and turns. Some shocking events and it does involve the death of a young child. Full of interesting characters.

Another great read from Fiona Cummins featuring DC Saul Anguish but in more of a minor role. An intriguing storyline about the Miller sisters and the events of one tragic night, just who is lying and who is telling the truth.

What a book - I started this over the weekend and have finished it just now, a couple of days later, whilst thinking about it and knowing the central story will stay with me for a long time.
Three sisters, all grown up but close, are torn apart by a heartbreakingly tragic event that will change and destroy lives. For Winter, Jen and Alyssa have lived that are now split into a before and after.
My heart lay with Jen, who has been dealt a hand of hands. Her story really resonated with me me and more than once I gasped out loud when reading.
The return of Saul and his story left me wanting more after continuing on from his and Blue’s past misdemeanours.
The subplot of Hannah and the tragedy that befalls her family also moved me, mostly because of how well written it was.
An absolutely engrossing book that made me smile and gasp and cry whilst reading. Thank you Fiona and NetGalley.
