I received a copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Bowls is a recipe book featuring over 100 vibrant and healthy meal bowls to make cooking simpler and mix things up a little.
The book features plenty of mouthwatering photos of the bowls and has easy to follow recipes. There are different types of bowls included such as breakfast bowls, protein packed, plant based, snacks and desserts. What I land adapt to your ved about this is the simplicity and once you get making these dishes you can find ways to play around with ingredients and adapt them to add or remove ingredients you want.

This book has an interesting premise. Unfortunately I was not able to read the entire book/or try any of the recipes before my copy expired.
The author has a lot of options on flavours and combinations and the ones I did manage to check out definitely spark the imagination.
I cannot provide a more detailed review because I was unable to pursue the book entirely or try out any recipes myself.
I would recommend this to people who like the concept.

A fantastic collection of recipes that are both easy and mouth watering. It’s well set out and easy to follow instructions.

This does what it sets out to do – delivers food in bowls, whether they're best suited for it or not. Now, I know bowls are a thing, and meals both in bowls and called bowls are a thing, but I've not really tried to ever emphasise that fact. Apart from one thing, I guess – breakfast cereals. I have them in bowls. Here though you can have Turkish fried eggs galore, avocado salads and of course (it's a modern cookbook = it's the law it's here) shakshuka, in a bowl, all for breakfast. Mind you, you don't see the thing in a bowl – shakshuka is photographed in the frying pan, and I still think a plate would be better.

So the hook of the book, the USP, is a bit flimsy. But generally there's little to dislike. The introduction is a bit meh, but there's not that huge screed advertising each dish as it comes along, for we get on with the ingredients and other necessaries. There's space for practically everything to be pictured, even if we lack any advice for plan Bs, swaps, storage tips, and suchlike.

The second section is a large one, looking at veggie soups, salads and other meat-light dishes, with a lot of chickpea curries and tofu courses. Some are jumbled like a typical salad, others segregated – this ingredient here and nowhere else, that one next to it, that third on this segment, and so on. After that it's higher on animal protein, and again we see the ethnicity of this to the fore – bibimbap, Indian fish curries, harissa chicken meatballs… After that it's snacks and sides, and desserts (with cheesecakes not really in bowls), followed by cocktails for the heavy drinkers. Erm, I lied about that last one.

Once again these publishers do what I think is a little awkward, and put a lot of key "don't you dare scan and print your friend's copy" ingredients in an appendix at the back, even if (like the shakshuka-bound arrabbiata sauce, or a khao soi sauce) it's only destined to match with one recipe and should be beside it. There's nothing to discuss the different kinds of cooking oils as featured here, such as why avocado oil has a different place and effect to olive, etc. But I am damned sure there is a lot of flavour on these pages, and the dishes will be a delight whatever they're served in. This wants you to be bowling for soup, main, sides and dessert, and it's got every chance of succeeding. A strong four stars.

4.5 out of 5 stars! Thank you, NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for this eARC of Bowls by Ayesha Singh.

Definitely an awesome book of dishes that are best served in bowls. The photographed photos were fantastic and I always have this saying about not trusting recipe books that don't have pictures. This book is beautifully done and had some very great recipes that my husband and I really enjoyed. My kids - not so much but what can you do when they're picky eaters (very young ages). Highly recommend and would def get for friends who enjoy meal prepping and cooking.

Bowls is an interesting collection of varied and unique recipes, but all served in bowls. From oatmeal to soups and salads, this provides a wide range of different flavors and tastes that help form each unique recipe.

Great cookbook with so many recipes and a wide variety of flavours from Indian to Japanese to Italian and so much more!

This is a perfect cookbook for me, the photos are inspiring and the variety of recipes is amazing to cover a wide range of tastes. The ingredients aren't over complicated either and I can find most of what I need in my local supermarket. The instructions are clearly written and easy to follow and I enjoy grabbing this book for quick, mid-week meals.

The appendix is also a little treasure trove of sauces and toppings to add a twist to some of the bowls, which I loved. I'll definitely be coming back to this recipe book again and again for ideas.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Bowls is a beautifully photographed recipe book containing instructions for making lots of dishes best served in bowls! The book was a little different from what I was expecting. I was expecting recipes to create meals that you assembled in your bowl based on your tastes, and the book did include a lot of those types of recipes. However, the book seemed to follow more of a “if you eat it in a bowl, we’ve included it!” For example, I wouldn’t consider tomato soup as a “bowl” recipe, but I can see how, logically, they included it. I did enjoy the recipes included and there seemed to be a great variety of recipes to choose from! All in all, a pretty good read!

Special thanks to NetGalley, Cider Mill Press, and author Ayesha Singh. Based on the cover and description, I was expecting something a bit different, but unfortunately, nothing in the book really stood out to me.

This is the kind of cookbook I would buy for friends and family. Or myself.
Everything is just right: the structure, the recipes, photo’s. The easy thing with bowls is that you can easily substitute ingredients and therefore also vary them.

There is something comforting about sitting down and having a bowl of something yummy, whether it be soup, or something more exciting like a rice bowl. Anyone who likes to make bowls will want to pick up a copy of Bowls: 100+ Recipes for Healthy, Vibrant Bowls, by Ayesha Singh. This excellent cookbook is loaded with recipes that are full meals served in bowls. While most have Asian undertones, there are some that are from other parts of the world. They include plenty of vegetarian bowls, as well as many containing meat, seafood, and chicken. They also include grains, rice, and noodles.

The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow and suitable for both beginning and advanced cooks. Some of the recipes call for ingredients that aren’t available at mainstream grocery stores, but are easy to find in Asian grocery stores. It is worth the trip; these recipes are mouthwatering and very appealing. There are over 100 recipes, so bowls can be made often throughout a year of dinners. The cookbook also includes condiments, sauces, and basic accompaniments to the bowls. Although some of the recipes have long lists of ingredients, there are many that are quick and easy.

Another excellent part of the cookbook is that most of the bowls are accompanied by beautiful, professional photographs, making it a bit difficult to decide what to make next.

All told, this is a unique cookbook loaded with amazing recipes that will get everyone to start making yummy bowls for dinners. It will make a great addition to any cookbook shelf.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I think I had different expectations of this cookbook based on the cover. I love a good bowl where it combines protein, veggies, and carbs, and was hoping for some new ideas. Since the description mentioned recipes from around the world, I was excited. Unfortunately as the author comes from an Indian cuisine background, it was heavy on those. I do love a good Indian dish, but would have loved a little more variety.
I also had hoped there would be discussion of swaps in recipes or ways to create your own bowls with recipes as the base.
Layout wise, it seemed odd to me to put the toppings for a recipe in a whole different section as was the case with “the ultimate oatmeal.” Since the suggested toppings are only for this recipe. Maybe a side box would be more appropriate?

Overall there are some good recipes in the cookbook, but wasn’t what I was expecting.
