Okay… I loved this.

It was a fun, flirty sports fake dating romance and gave everything I needed and more.

Robbie - was adorable, he was flirty and so down for Skylar but so willing to go at her pace. Loved loved loved how he backed skylar up to her family and really gave her the place she deserved.

Skylar - was so independent but also appreciated how Robbie put her first.

I read this in one night and really couldn’t put it down.

Thank you to netgalley for the ARC

Skylar and Robbie are cute and it was nice easy read to watch them fall in love. They initially begin fake dating to get the attention of her brothers best friend. However if Robbie has anything to do with it, there's nothing fake about it.

As this is the 4th book in the series it was nice to meet old characters again as they were always willing to give Robbie a helping hand.

Tessa Bailey’s writing isn’t for me. The plot was too far fetched for me and I was unable to suspend my disbelief that these two characters actually liked each other let along trusted each other enough to fake date. There was no meaningful character development and half the plot seemed to be setting up for the next book in the series.

I’m sure if you’re a fan of Tessa Bailey’s other work you’ll enjoy this, but sadly I didn’t.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harper360 for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Pitcher Perfect was the perfect cute and fun romance book! It’s easy to read, it’s full of banter, which I personally love, and it’s spicy 🌶️

Robbie and Skylar were fun characters to read - Robbie starts off as the cocky NHL heartthrob you expect, but actually reveals himself as being sappy and soft for Skylar from the get go. The way him and Skylar balances each other and complements each other was so good! And their competitiveness was so fun to read.

The fake dating setup is a classic and though a bit predictable, it works really well in that book. It does feel a little bit rushed sometimes and it is fast paced (I would have maybe prefer a bit more pining!) but this book is perfect for fans of sport romance.

3.5/5 stars

This was one of my more anticipated reads of the year and while it was good, it wasn't the epic read I was hoping it to be. The characters fell a little flat for me, especially Skylar. I did love Robbie's character arc and it was nice to see his growth from book 1 to book 4.

It was fun to see the previous characters from the books in the series and I'm excited to read further stories in the series!

My Ratings:
🧍🏽‍♀️ 3/5 Characters
🌶️ 3.5/5 Spice
🎬 3.5/5 Ending
🧩 4/5 Plot
💫 3.5/5 Overall

Thanks to the publisher for an advance copy!

Thankyou NetGalley for this ARC.

Tessa Bailey does it again. Been waiting for this book, so I was super happy to get it early!

Rocket and Redbeard. What a couple.

Robbie has a come to Jesus moment when he locks eyes with Skylar across the baseball pitch.
From there, they have a whirlwind ‘romance’, or should I say ‘fake romance’.

I adored this story, and the golden retriever energy that Robbie brought with him. He truly is a ray of sunshine and the ultimate boyfriend material. Robbie and Skylar are true soulmates and their connection was adorable.

(Only critique is that it got confusing at times when the character POV changed halfway through the chapter without knowing whose POV it was)

This book just wasn’t for me. The concept is fun but I found some of the characters unlikeable and concepts outdated. I’m sure many people would enjoy this, unfortunately I am simply not the target audience and that’s okay.

Firstly thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the arc ‹33 so so grateful
Okay this book was SO FUN i actually cannot stop thinking about how cute these two are
I was intrigued by Robbie since we were first introduced to him and his story DID NOT disappoint
I adored the feel good, sports Rom com vibes of this book so so much!!
First we have Skylar 'rocket' Page - complete girlboss and
D1 pitcher (love her!) she takes no one's nonsense especially not Robbie's. She has no time for guys like him and their first interaction just proves that buttt she needs help capturing the attention of her brothers bestfriend..
Enter Robbie 'Red beard' Corrigan - Pro hockey player and a defo womaniser. Until he meets Skylar that is.... He's the perfect person to fake date Skylar and give her lessons until he realises he doesn't want her with anyone else but him
I love a pathetic and obsessed man
Robbie was down
BAD and I was so here for it (and the mouth on that man
PHEW
I absolutely ate this book up the tension had me hooked!!
Robbie's growth throughout the book was so special to see (Skylar really said I can fix him... no really I can!!) love me a reformed playboy. My guy ONLY had eyes for her Plus the way he helped Skylar build her confidence and stand up for herself especially in front of her family SO PRECIOUS!!

I think I'm officially done with Tessa Bailey... I'm pretty sure she stopped trying after book 1 and I'm not sure why I kept hoping from more for her.

Enemies to lovers but not really and it all felt insta-lovey. And Robbie being involved in "locker room talk" and this never being fully addressed did not sit right with me, especially with the NHL continuing to cover up SA and harassment.

Cringey dialogue and a plot that you really had to drop all common sense at the door to enjoy.

Tessa Bailey, it wasn't nice while it lasted.

The Queen does it again!! Another absolute winner from Tessa Bailey. It was just a great story of love and of course her trademark spice. I really enjoyed this story. It came with no real outside story, just focus on the couple and what makes them the best together.

Thank you for this arc. I loved it.

Loved this book! A wonderful light-hearted read, and a perfect addition to the Big Shots series! Robbie was such an amazing MMC and I adored that he knew Skyar's feelings towards family competitions etc without being told! The subtle hints to the big reveal was everything I needed and more !

❤️Redbeard & rocket ❤️

This was one of them books where it's 1am and you say 1 more chapter, but it's never actually 1 more chapter. Then it's suddenly 5am, and your toddler is up in 2 hrs

Robbie was a man obsessed from literally chapter 2. My man had no chill around skyler he went from playboy to exclusive real fast. The minute Robbie suggested how to help skyler, I cringed for him, but a little fake dating never hurt anyone, right? Wrong it hurt my heart when poor robbie was falling in love thinking he was alone in it.
This was somehow a slow burn with insta love on his end 😂 I wont lie skyler was so oblivious to there tension and chemistry that it actually hurt my head i really wanted to give her a little shove to tell her to sort herself out but she was so nieve it was actually cute 🥹

Exactly the light-hearted fun romance you expect when picking up a Tessa Bailey book!

Skylar is a softball pitcher for Boston University and has been dragged into a baseball game against a professional hockey team by her brother Elliot. (If you've read Dream Girl Drama: yes this is about the two you're thinking of). Robbie is one of the hockey players in question, and he's a bit of a non-hockey player as well. Skylar is not impressed - unfortunately for her, he really is.

Robbie does not enjoy seeing himself through Skylar's eyes and does some much-needed self-reflection. He also volunteers to be her teammate for an annual insane family competition in Rhode Island, pretending to be her fake boyfriend to help her get her brother's best friend to notice her. (yes, it's tropes upon tropes upon tropes, thank you for noticing).

Absolutely nothing in this book is realistic, but I enjoyed the insanity! My second-favourite in the series after Fangirl Down (which is an absolute masterpiece). I don't know how we got from golf to hockey to softball, but if my hunch is correct we'll get a baseball book next. I'm excited!

Many thanks to Harper360 for letting me read an eARC of this through Netgalley

Robbie Corrigan is initially portrayed as the MMC with the stereotypical jock vibe...lots and lots of women and no repeats. This is how he is when our FMC, Skylar, first meets him and assumes this is all he is and immediately hates him.
Robbie is more than this and add in that he falls first we get to see the softer side and a lot of character growth for him. Skylar is your classic innocent, type A , maybe a little, naive college girl (I use girl because she is certainly portrayed as the little sister / younger, more innocent than the other characters).
This is not a unique romance, this is not breaking the mould in romance but it is enjoyable and the characters are entertaining, if you have read the previous books in the big shots series then some will be familiar, you do not need to read any of the other before picking this book up but may give some context to the scene where Robbie and Skylar meet at least!

I received this book as an ARC and provide an honest review

I am a totally sucker for basically anything Tessa Bailey writes and this was no exception! I finished this whole book in one session and completely adored it. I found the characters so genuine and felt myself totally empathising with them as well as laughing so much!

This was an absolutely brilliant read. I read this in one sitting and absolutely adored it. The characters were hilarious and so easy to follow. - a really entertaining romcom

Super easy to read, I demolished this in one sitting. Characters that you can’t help empathise with because they seem so genuine and effortlessly constructed. It just felt like the perfect holiday read to escape to a sports romance that felt like it was ‘more’

This was such a fun read. A perfect holiday book and as always, the smut was to D I E for.

I adored Robbie Corrigan. He was sensitive, addictive, funny and so much more. I just fell in love with the character he was perceived to be. He put others before himself and he was just so genuine.

Then we have Skylar Paige, a softball pitcher and someone who is in love with her brother’s best friend so wants a fake boyfriend. In come sexy, handsome Robbie. And the rest is history.

I can’t put into words how great this book was to read. We have a lot of tropes I am loving; fake dating, opposites attract and a beautiful golden retriever who’s absolutely obsessed with her.

It was funny… hilarious at times. Robbie and Skylars banter was through the roof. I laughed so hard. And do you know what I loved most about this book? It was the family competing against each other and how Robbie ends it right there and then for Skylars sake. He makes her and her family SEE her for who she is. The hard working, beautiful, smart woman that she is. Ugh. Just give it to me!

Another marvellous read from Tessa Bailey with TB spice. It was the perfect read. A huge thanks to @harper360uk and @tessabaileyisanauthor for allowing me access to this arc via @netgalleyuk.
