Initially thought I would end up giving up on this book as I just didn't seem able to get into it over first couple of chapters. So pleased I persevered as the plot just got better & better as the characters developed. Some truly excellent & not foreseeable twists. Highly recommended

Rose is married to Grant, and has a son James by her first husband, Ian, who died in an accident. Rose, Grant and James move into a mansion house in Florida. Grants mother, Evelyn also lives there, and Grant tells Rose he wants them to continue living with Evelyn as she suffers with Parkinsons disease. Rose would have rather lived elsewhere, as she feels Evelyn does not like her, and wished Grant had married someone else. Rose is afraid that Evelyn knows all the secrets from her past, and is just biding her time to tell Grant all she knows about Rose. However, Rose is not the only one who has secrets, and with the arrival of Isabel, all secrets are in danger of coming to light.
I had not heard of this author before, but will now look for more of her work. I enjoyed the book, and read it in a couple of sittings. I thought I knew the ending, I almost had it right, but for one little twist I didn't see coming. 5 stars.

In order for her son to do well at his new school Rose employs Isabel to tutor him.

Things get twisty when Rose suspects that Isabel is not really who she seems to be.

This is a pacy and intriguing read and I really enjoyed how the story unfolded. I was hooked from the start and for me this was a one sit read.

An Irreparable Mistake..?
Now ensconced in a luxurious Florida mansion, Rose is keen to ensure that son James fits in with everything in his new life. She hires a tutor for him and everything seems to be working out well. Isabel is getting results with James. It is not too long, however, before something appears to be decidedly..off. What sort of mistake has Rose made.. and is it irreparable? Pacy, immersive psychological suspense with a well drawn cast, a propulsive plot and twists aplenty.

Letting her into your home was your first mistake... Rose is a dedicated wife and mother to her husband Grant and her son James. Having recently moved to a grand mansion in Florida, Rose is keen for James to fit in with his new life and hires a tutor. Isabel is young, smart and beautiful, and not only gets along with James, but she gets results. But when Isabel starts to get too close for comfort, Rose can't help but think that Isabel is looking for more than just tutoring. Can Rose uncover who exactly she has let into her house, or will this lesson be deadly?! Great read!! Wow some shocking and crazy twists! It also had great suspense, mystery, murder, intriguing, gaslighting, dark secrets and some chilling moments! The story was very interesting! I highly recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
