Highlands Christmas is a lovely trilogy set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. Anyone who follows my reviews will know that I love a book set around the festive period, even if I am reading it on a balmy summer evening. Nothing gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling like Christmas.

The books are rapid and easy to read. The whole series is only 358 pages. The stories are all about friendship, love and second chances. Each book centres on a different character, but all are connected somehow. I haven't actually read anything by this author before, but her descriptive writing had me feeling the glow of candles and scenting the delicious pines and balsam as I read.

A perfect cosy read, whatever the weather.

Quick and easy reads that put you in the festive spirit. I found them to be a bit shallow in terms of character development but I feel that is to be expected with novellas of this length. You do find yourself getting a bit frustrated with the characters as they make decisions without actually checking any facts but it’s easygoing and harmless.

This trilogy was such a cozy, fun read. I actually read all three in one sitting. Each novella had its own charm, but together they created a sweet, satisfying journey that I truly enjoyed (even in the midst of hot New York August!)

Highlands Christmas pulled me in right away and I knew I'd enjoy the omnibus. I could almost feel the chill in Inverness. I thought the story started out SO lovely, though I did agree with another reviewer and wish Colin had been a bit more proactive about his divorce, given his feelings for her. That's the only thing that sort of rubbed me the wrong way in the novella.

Highlands New Year was lighthearted and so much fun to read. It may have been my favorite of the three.

Highlands Homecoming was the perfect ending to the omnibus! I felt like it tied everything together so well and made everything feel full circle. No one really felt overlooked, and the plot seemed complete at the end.

I wanted to rate it 4.5 stars, but it won't allow me to! I decided to round up, because I certainly enjoyed it more than 4 stars. I look forward to reading more of Amy's work in the future!

Yes, there’s some fast instalove and moments that need a bit of suspension of disbelief, but honestly, no harm done. This trilogy is exactly the feel-good, cosy, romantic read full of the Scottish vibes, with all the food, music, and festive cheer I love, perfect for your holiday reading list.

What a gorgeous read! This book has everything a story has to have
– lovely characters (all of them except for the cheating ex-husband)
- a great setting in Scotland right by Loch Ness with loads of Scottish traditions and craig
- loads of romance, love, banter and magical moments
- and as a bonus: someone to hate (yes, the ex-husband)

I loved that the story was seperated into 3 books, making them rather quick reads. The perfect amount of pages for a cozy day or night in. I would absolutely recommend this set for anyone looking for a sweet and heartwarming winter read.

The first novella in this trilogy follows Melissa MacKenzie as she learns on Thanksgiving that her husband wants a divorce. Coincidentally, Melissa just recently found that she inherited a home in Inverness, Scotland. So this is where she goes on a whim after her husband’s divorce announcement. She wants to see what the house is like and maybe even start a new life there. Also coincidentally, she runs into her husband’s divorce lawyer at the airport, who is also from Inverness. What are the chances?!

The second novella in this trilogy features Melissa's best friend from Boston, Caitlin, who comes to Inverness to visit for New Year’s festivities. Caitlin is out exploring with Melissa's Scottish friend, Lindsey, when she is snowed in at a local inn after a sudden snowstorm catches her off guard. Also snowed-in at the inn are two very handsome Scottish guys and a bunch of tourists. When people start to get bored from being shut in, Caitlin and her new friends organize meals, parties, and games to pass the time until roads are cleared.

The third novella in this trilogy takes place just after the Christmas and the New Year, and finds that Melissa’s divorce is finally official—or is it? Her rotten ex-husband Dave stirs up a ton of trouble where her inherited Scottish estate is concerned. Melissa’s old and new friends rally to protect her interests. And the characters that I’ve grown to love have some big life changes. There’s a lot of Boston in this installment, as well as Scotland.

This collection is full of Scottish food, music, and all sorts of Scottish things. Also absolutely full of Christmas and cold weather, which I love. By the end of the collection, some of the characters’ loose ends have been tied up, but honestly I feel like there is enough story still open that the series could keep going. If the author chose to continue these stories, I would keep reading them. They're quick, festive, easy reads which are a must for my holiday reading list every single year.

I was 30% in before I realised this book isn't for me. I wasn't connecting with the characters or the story. The writing is okay but not very engaging. I do think this might be me, because I liked the plot idea and it's set in Scotland, which I wanted to read about, but in the end I decided to DNF so I don't fall into a reading slump.

The Book was a nice and easy read. I like the Highlands. But the story was unbelievable. The Timeframe of the inheritance, the Lovestory between the Divorcee and the lawyer from her husband. You would think, that he would decline to be the lawyer before the Lovestory happened, but this is not what happens. And than the inheritance in a different country. As if this would be solved in a few weeks. It takes in normal circumstances (your parents die and you inherit) months to get the inheritance solved with the courts and banks.
The Atmosphere in the book was what you want in a love story and I liked it.

Each book in the trilogy flows well together, and it’s a journey of self-discovery and beautiful romance.
I highly recommend!

I am glad this has all three books together because I would not have picked up books two or three after finishing book one. Melissa was highly unlikable mainly because she makes impulsive decisions, doesn’t listen to reason, then has a “poor me” moment repeatedly throughout the book. There was no realism in the books to ground any elements of the story but it wasn’t fantasy it was just someone trying to make instalove happen but without the plot mechanisms to make it work. The second book was better because Caitlyn wasn’t near as annoying but then we came back to Melissa. Overall, it wasn’t for me.

It's Thanksgiving and Melissa has set up a thanksgiving dinner for her friends, her husband asks her to invite a friend who is alone on thanksgiving, when she arrives with a hideous gift Meliisa thinks nothing of it, but when her husband Dave tells her he wants a divorce and the friend she invited is his mistress, Melissa is blindsided, she knows she needs to get away. So when a letter from a property agent comes through saying she has inherited a house in the Highlands of Scotland she packs a bag and heads over to claim her inheritance.

Colin is a Scot living inBoston and his client has just secured his services to get as much out of his divorce as possible, things get difficult, especially when Colin meets Jessa on a flight and you shouldn't fratinise with the other party in a divorce.

This is a three part story about how Melissa embraces her new life in Scotland and in the second book her friend Caitlin who meets her own Scotsman in Boston.

The three stories fit well together and Melissa has some way to go for her HEA.

The characters are all very well created and the cast of Scottish characters are great and the way the three stories were crafted together made for a heartwarming trilogy to enjoy.

Highlands Christmas: Wishes Come True: A novella
Couldn’t get into the first book of the collection. It hit too many irks for me personally and I felt irritated with the characters.

A Highlands New Year
The second one narrative and viewpoints seem muddled. Anything novella not for me.

Highlands Homecoming
This connected set of stories was not for me. So unfortunately I won’t be recommending it to anyone I know. I feel like it would be better to take time using these as working off of to write to proper book and flows better and makes sense and is less told and more felt or action.

They all seemed unfinished.

This was a charming, Christmas second chance romance. Having it set in the highlands of Scotland, is lovely and makes it feel cosy and festive with a beautiful atmosphere.

Melissa and Colin seem very well suited to each other romantically.

Highlands New year:
This felt like a cosy trip to the highlands of Scotland, this second novella, made me more invested in Melissa and Colin’s romance. Adding Caitlin into the story, just added more fun.

The plot flowed beautifully and was engaging the whole time

Highlands Homecoming:
This truly rounded out the series into a nice neat bow. It had unexpected twist, along with same characters that I’ve formed a connection with over the course of the series. It had a very satisfying ending with a sweet romance between Melissa and Colin and her getting her house, along with Dave getting his comeuppance.

As Melissa embraces the Scottish Christmas culture and the warm reception from Colin’s family, they begin to feel the sparks fly. This is a cosy, romantic book that I read in one sitting. The character’s are great and the chemistry builds nicely. The book could have been a little longer, and the Scottish words can be a little tricky to understand, but it’s thoroughly enjoyable and worth reading.

Highlands New Year

Caitlin has flown out to Loch Ness to visit her best friend Melissa. What should be a fun week of sight seeing is soon ruined by the snow storm, although some guitars, good food and rugged lumberjacks soon liven things up. Angus is originally from Scotland, visiting from Boston for the holidays. I loved the instant connection between them both, and learning some of the New Year Scotland traditions. Cozy, easy to read and full of community spirit, book makes a great sequel to ‘Highlands Christmas’.

Melissa has shipped all of her belongings, and is ready to head back to her new home in Loch Ness. Hoping for the fresh start she desperately needs, the last thing she expected was her ex-husband Dave trying to forge the divorce papers to get his hands on Greenhill House. This was my favourite book of the series. With more Scottish traditions, some unexpected twists and a surprise romance, it was the perfect end to the Highlands Trilogy. This series is cozy, romantic and light-hearted. It is definitely worth reading.

These are the first books I have read by Amy and was happy to receive an advance copy. As soon as I started reading,I knew I was going to enjoy the books. Set in the Scottish Highlands(mainly)Melissa,who stays in Boston,gets a letter saying she has inherited a house near Inverness. At the same time,her husband tells her he wants a divorce. So it’s a new start for her,she books a flight to Scotland for her new life and new hope and at the airport she meets Colin,who is going home to see his family. As it turns out,he is the divorce lawyer her husband has employed. We also have Lindsey,Colin’s sister and his Dad Sandy who still runs the family croft. Lindsey and Melissa become goods friends. There is Caitlin,Melissa’s best friend from Boston and Drew and Angus who Caitlin and Lindsey meet on their way to Skye. Margaret runs the estate agency and becomes friends with Sandy and he helps her train her dog. I couldn’t put the books down,they are well worth a read to see how everyone’s lives intertwine. I loved Amy’s writing style,just easy to read and drew you in.
