The Love Leap is my first book by Heather Grace Stewart. I was already excited from the synopsis and had a lovely time reading this book! I instantly liked the main character, Mills. I enjoyed the scenery of Scotland and the main love interest, Cal. I also really liked their chemistry!
This is a charming book with an interesting take on low-stakes time travel, which I particularly enjoyed. At times, the story felt too rushed, and I felt I was losing time with the characters. I would've liked more added to their story and presence. Overall, I enjoyed this book and reading something different! I'm curious to see what will happen next in the series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2 1/2 ⭐I loved getting glimpses of Scotland. Would have loved more scenes where they explored the highlands so when they did navigate their way through the woods it was clear they knew their way around.
I feel like a literary agent when saying this: I just didn’t feel like this story was a fit for me. I only got interested 17 chapters into the novel. I understand the scene needs to be set to show the relationships growing but I just didn’t feel it. I only got into the story around 75% of the book.
Cal and Cam’s names were to similar so I got constantly confused.
I would have liked for the MC’s to be more upset/worried/surprised/shocked etc being transported into a different era.
I think the thing I felt most lacking while reading this was the lack of depth and emotion between the MC’s. I was told many times how they liked and appreciated each other’s characters but I rarely saw it in action. If they were stuck in 1645 for a whole month, I would have liked more depth and conversations between Cal and Amelia. Would have loved to see the tension in some situations rather than just being told. And I would have loved more fear from Amelia when she was kidnapped by the clan.

Thank you Netgalley and Rose & Thistle Publishing for the ARC
Amelia "Mills" Sutherland is burnt out. Multiple bestselling books later, she is out of material, out of ideas, and very behind her publisher's schedule. In an impulsive attempt to reignite both her love life and her writing career, she takes a trip to Scotland to surprise her boyfriend of 6 months and take things to the next level. Until she gets the surprise of a lifetime when she meets his wife as well.
Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong on this awful day as Mills tried to make her way back to the airport only to get caught in pouring rain, find there's no Ubers or taxis, and miss the only bus for the rest of the afternoon. Couple that with being chased by a highland cow, things aren't exactly looking great. By some stroke of luck, Mills manages to book this gorgeous Airbnb cottage where she meets an equally as gorgeous sailor, Callum MacDowell.
This book was charming and full of character. I thought this was an interesting take on the Scottish romance genre with a little time travel twist, it definitely stood out to me. That being said, I don't think this novel was for me. Maybe it was the character's voice or the way it was written, but I just didn't enjoy it that much. But I loved what this book was trying to do, I'm a sucker for time travel romances!

The Love Leap is a new romance story from Heather Grace Stewart. It's a friends to lovers tale set in Scotland in which a romance author meets a Highland sailor, but neither could predict the time travel that is going to take them on an incredible adventure together.
Amelia (also known as Mills) has just had her heart crushed when she meets the handsome sailor Callum. He steps in to help her, guiding her around his town and teaching her about the local culture. It will have you laughing in places, but there will also be a fair bit of swooning along the way! There is even quite a lot of spice in this book, so be prepared for that.
Mills finds her writer's block is finally lifting, but then she is unexpectedly pulled back in time through a mystical portal to 1645 and finds herself having to navigate many awkward and dangerous situations with Cal. Can the pair survive the past and, more importantly, will they be able to take the leap towards each other?
The Love Leap is a good holiday read, especially if you enjoy a fun romantic story and time travel. This is book one of the Timeless Love Chronicles series, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

This book is a breath of fresh air not only from a plot standpoint but the characters and setting as well. I haven't read a book with such an exciting premise which delves into a romance set in 1645 Scotland. The female main character is endearing and relatable whilst the male love interest is charming and likeable. Both characters were well developed and as a reader you felt like you really knew them and their intentions, this is often rare for male protagonists so I', grateful the author took the time to flesh him out. The romance itself was vanilla, but not plain. If you are a smut/erotica reader this may be a good palette cleanser but is not the main star of the show. I like the approach Stewart took in potraying yearning throughout their adventure rather than the characters immediately falling in love with each other. So if you're into slowburn, this is definitely a good read for you. Some critiques I have of this book is sometimes the descriptions were heavy handed and some sections of the book could have been trimmed down so that the reader wasn't taken out the narrative.Although not a groundbreaking book my any means, it was still entertaining and interesting so I would rate it a solid 3.25/3.5 stars.

this title had me hooked and wanting to read it. I enjoyed this book and had a good time reading it. I will read it again. I will find more books from this author.

I loved the premise of this book but this ended up being just an okay read for me. The story felt choppy and I had a hard time caring about any of the characters. I felt like I was just waiting for the time travel to start and then was underwhelmed by anything that happened after. Though there were some cute parts and I loved the setting.

I gave this a 5/5 stars because I enjoyed it was very entertaining while using out loud feature on NetGalley.
I loved how author was inspired by outlander. It gave me loads of outlander vibes but it's modern day which great.

THE LOVE LEAP BY HEATHER GRACE STEWART: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I wholeheartedly think this book is missed potential. I think the segments in 1645 were really underutilised. The characters could have been developed more clearly without Mills needing to be relatable through slang and modern references, though they were developed in the novel. I also thought that Cal was from 1645, but that's my fault. Regardless, the book was entertaining, and so was the dynamic between the cast. If you want a cozy read featuring the Scottish Highlands, time travel, and shoes, read this.

This one was a slow start for me. I kept waiting for the plot to actually kick in, and it took a while to get there. But once it did, I started having more fun with it.
The found family vibe was easily my favorite part. I loved the people Mills and Cal met along the way and how the two of them grew together as they managed being dropped into the past. It also had a good mix of humor, action, and angst, which kept things moving once it found its groove.
And as someone who’s visited Scotland and wishes she could live there, I really loved the setting. The descriptions were super vivid without feeling heavy, and the way the Highlands were written totally scratched that travel itch for me.
Romance-wise, it was cute—but I was kinda hoping for more spice (which is definitely a personal preference and I don’t think the book was advertised in a misleading way). The chemistry is there, but it leans more flirty and sweet than steamy. Definitely more slow burn and swoony tension than anything steamy.
Not sure yet if I’ll keep going with the series (it ends in a way that leaves things open), but I’d still recommend this to anyone in the mood for a easy to read time travel romance with action, angst, fun banter, and characters you root for.

This one didn’t do it for me. The whole book felt disjointed and shallow. There’s only so many times I can read an FMC coming to the same realization before it starts to feel like filler. The MMC had no depth and the FMC wasn’t very likeable. The writing left something to be desired and it was filled with typos and errors (ex: the wooden candlestick turns into a brass candlestick in the next paragraph)

the author has to be able to do these time travel books really well for them to be a win for me. im a huge cynical cynic and so time travel is something that can leave me meh, move on. buuuuut i have also been lucky enough to read some excellent ones. and so each time i see an author or book tickles my fancy in the genre i "leap" to it.
and thankfully i did for this one as Heather has done it well, better than well. and im glad it could be the start of a new series to follow as those are always a hook for me.
and i can honestly say this book gave me joy. i enjoyed reading it. to have that from words and writing is a true gift and a true skill. the timing, the story and the way Heather rights just pulls you in and the writing bounces you along in a happy skippy mood throughout.
the book gives us Mills who is down on her luck in the romance stakes. its given her self confidence a knock and is now transmitting into her writing her lack there of. shes got writers block all right. shes a best seller, how can this happen?
so what else can she do but take a last leap of bravery and a leap into the unknown. and she does this via travelling to Scotland to meet her online love. and what sparks from there gives us gorgeousness from the get to. not only in the present story but also as we soon find ourselves flipping back in time with our pair too.
this was such a refreshingly good read in this genre. i couldn't put it down and it excited me to get stuck back in even after a loo break!
this book needs to be read by anyone needing a good book, better yet a book to bring them joy.
loved it.
my only downside is now the "book fear" of not being lucky enough to read the others in the series...

I wanted to read this book as a break from some harder non-fiction in my TBR pile. My thinking: Time travel, yay. Romance, um, maybe. Described as 'spicy', we'll see? I'll be honest here that the read alike to Outlander made me hesitate - that one had too many sex scenes for me, but I thought, don't judge a book by it's read alike, and also, time travel, so in I dived.
Amelia, romance author with fresh failed romance, meets a hottie Scotsman. Romance ensues, time travel ensues. Limited graphic spiciness. It was a refreshing, light read with a fairly straight forward predictable plot. The time travel bit wasn't complicated and I wasted no brain cells trying to wrap my head around it, yay. A wonderful fun read. Recommended for romance readers as well as anyone wanting a light beach read.

This book was such a breath of fresh air and if you need a palate cleanser in between reads- I highly recommend. It feels like a mix between Leap Year & Outlander and if you like lighter time travel reads than this may be up your alley. The FMC travels to Scotland to surprise her online love only to stumble back in time. The setting is wonderful, time period a fun change of pace, and the characters are endearing. 4/5 read for me!

I just finished a good book that is a perfect summer read for romance lovers. The Love Leap by Heather Grace Stewart is available soon.

This is good fun. It doesn’t dwell too much on how the time travel works or how easily they accept that it has happened, instead leaning into the fun of it actually having happened. I found the main character a bit annoying, but she grew on me as she coped with some of the more absurd situations in which she found herself. A sweet, fun, modern romance.

The Love Leap is a delightfully chaotic time-travel romance with heart, heat, and a healthy dose of humor. Amelia “Mills” Sutherland is instantly relatable as a bestselling author whose trip to Scotland takes a wildly unexpected turn. When she stumbles into the path of Callum MacDowell, a charming Highland sailor, sparks fly fast. Their chemistry is fun and flirty, but the emotional pull builds steadily once they’re thrown into the year 1645, facing clan feuds, mistaken identities, and the challenge of pretending to be husband and wife.
What I loved most is that the romance doesn’t just lean on the fantasy setup. It’s grounded in emotional growth, shared vulnerability, and the kind of banter that makes you grin while rooting for them. The pacing keeps things engaging, with just enough tension to raise the stakes without losing the book’s warm, adventurous tone. Heather Grace Stewart weaves together modern humor and historical charm in a way that feels fresh and satisfying. If you're a fan of time slips, found family, and love stories that don’t take themselves too seriously but still manage to land the emotional moments, this one will leave you smiling.
