From the book cover to the formatting of the text content, I know this is something my child would grab and ask to buy. The graphics are so eye-catching and memorable. I would love to gift this to families with very young kids to teach them color, and to encourage creativity through the emotions that colors evoke.

Rainbow Colors by Yvonne Pearson is a book about the colors of the rainbow. But it also talks about the colors having feelings. I see this book as a board book, but I don't feel that it will be a classic.

Rainbow Colors by Yvonne Pearson is a fun, vibrant celebration of colour.
Each colour is personified and presented as a playful riddle for children to guess the colour. The illustrations are bright and engaging—perfect for sparking curiosity and conversation.

Ideal for ages 3–7, it’s a lovely read-aloud or independent pick.
Note for UK readers: it uses the U.S. spelling color, but the joy of the book shines just as brightly.

Rainbow Colors was a good children’s book. It had fun rhyming that is intriguing for kids, and actually drew my autistic 5-year-old in. I felt like the words used were ones for the most part my kids could recognize with a specific color. It was a fun way to learn and go through the colors, and the illustrations were fun. This will be one I could see purchasing once it’s published.

This book is a delightful new take on the classic book about colors. It does not just state the color and give examples of items that are that color, but it also talks about the feelings connected to that color. Not only are children learning colors, but they are also opening doors for conversations about emotions and how to express them.

This is an upbeat and unconventional introduction to the rainbow for young children, sparking a love for colors and their appearance in nature. Through a series of rhymes and questions, children are invited to guess each color of the rainbow spectrum in order. The clues include a combination of flora and fauna as well as manmade objects, but the emphasis is on the former. The notes at the end about the science of rainbows are clear and age-appropriate, as are the notes about how colors have different meanings to different people.

I found myself reading this book out loud just because, and I can see it's appeal. I really enjoyed the fact that the each of the colors "speak" in third person and are given emotional characteristics. This makes the book perfect for read-aloud sessions for children, and can be used with a number of different lesson plans. The book's subtle focus on the way that colors impact us is also a good exercise for children to think deeply about how this applies to them, and why they like (or even don't like) the colors that they do. The typography in the illustrations is beautiful. Each name design is a perfect match to their respective color characteristics. Showing the creatures and objects interacting with said color names is a nice touch, too.

A bright, beautifully illustrated book on the colors of the rainbow. Describing the color, including things that are of that particular color and having the reader guess what color is being talked about is a great way to get children involved when reading this book. It makes for a cute little game. Loved the book!

Oh my! What a precious book! I love this bold book full of descriptive words! I can picture a classroom teacher reading this book aloud to her students as they sit in a circle at her feet! Not only does this beautifully illustrated book teach children their colors, it also informs them about how rainbows are created. I will certainly recommend this book to my elementary teacher friends. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this adorable book!

Really sweet book, the rhymes and examples are pleasingly different to the regular "Red apple" and "blue car" types

I could see young children really loving this and joining in as it's read to/with them

I received an advance copy for free from NetGalley, on the expectation that I would provide an honest review.

This was a cute book exploring colors. It is simple in format with vibrant illustrations. This would be fun for kids who are learning their colors or have learned them recently. It has them guess the color based on rhyming clues. There is also some information about the science of color and the meanings we sometimes associate with colors.

A fun, light-hearted look at colors and how they are represented in the natural world around us. “Each of us casts a wonderful hue and together we make something magically new.” Informative, beautiful, vibrant. Read this one when learning and practicing colors - you won’t regret it. There’s an interactive guessing element that keeps even struggling readers engaged.

This book was so adorable!! I loved that bright colors and I loved that the illustrations on each color matched the words on the previous page. I know this one is about rainbow colors but I would love a second book with more unique colors like gold, silver, pink, and gray. I will purchase this for my nephew.

Rainbow Colors is a beautiful, vibrant, and highly educational book about more than just color. The illustration style is unique and interesting, and giving each color an emotional description is such a treasure.

This is not only an excellent book for children, but parents as well. I would also say that neurodivergent children who have a special interest in colors will absolutely love this book. Mine sure did!
