Reflecting on the emotions, natural occurrences in the environment, and evocative style, this book gives new life to colors, with adjectives and nouns that give hint to how colors appear to us. The reader gets a chance to guess before a whimsical eruption of the selected color bursts on the next page, shouting, "I'm Orange", for example.
This would make a lovely board book to be read with an adult caregiver. I like how they explain more about rainbows and how colors evoke feelings at the end of the book as well.
This book is a delightful new take on the classic book about colors. It does not just state the color and give examples of items that are that color, but it also talks about the feelings connected to that color. Not only are children learning colors, but they are also opening doors for conversations about emotions and how to express them.
Oh my! What a precious book! I love this bold book full of descriptive words! I can picture a classroom teacher reading this book aloud to her students as they sit in a circle at her feet! Not only does this beautifully illustrated book teach children their colors, it also informs them about how rainbows are created. I will certainly recommend this book to my elementary teacher friends. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this adorable book!
Rainbow Colors is such a vibrant book! I enjoyed the rhyming cadence it's written in. While simple, the vocabulary presents the opportunity for young children to learn new words. The guessing element and reveal of the colours is so fun!
I would definitely give this book as a gift.

Did you know that colors have personalities? In “Rainbow Colors”, written by Yvonne Pearson and illustrated by Carole Chevalier, each of the colors talk about themselves. The colors describe some feelings and where they can be seen. At the end of the book the colors combine to create a rainbow.
“Rainbow Colors” is a simple beautiful book that can help children, especially young children, determine their feelings and emotions. As the colors are described, one can guess what it could be. One then turns the page and sees the color and the different objects that could be colored by that color. The rhyming verses move the narration along until the rainbow is created. I like the page at the end of the book that gives a simple scientific explanation of a rainbow. The page that talks about color and it’s possible related feelings helps children understand how colors can help us connect with our feelings. A perfect book for preschool and young elementary children.
