Set in Whitby, North Yorkshire, it's a contemporary, lighthearted vampire romance. Lucy finds herself in Whitby at the start of the 'Goth Weekend' to complete a newspaper assignment. She is naturally apprehensive as she is working outside her genre, but always the people-pleaser, she can't say no. It is atmospheric and immersive reading, especially if you are familiar with this part of England. The first meeting between Lucy and Bram is suitably dramatic but tinged with humour, and you realise that he is not what you initially expect him to be. Lucy is a sunshine character, and Bram appears to be out of character, in a poignantly humorous way. I enjoyed the vibrant setting, the gentle romance and the defining elements of found family in this story.
