Some stories get under your skin... this one strands you on an island & refuses to let you leave.
When struggling actress Marin lands the role of Daisy in a film based on the mysterious disappearance of five women on Avalon Island in 1926, she & the rest of the cast are sent to the original island to prepare for their roles. As the past & present begin to blur, strange events begin mirroring the original mystery, leaving Marin questioning who or what she can trust.
I loved the eerie atmosphere, Azra, the isolated setting, the constant sense of paranoia & the way every character felt like they were hiding something. Riley Sager steadily builds the suspense before delivering his signature jaw dropping twist. With chilling moments, supernatural undertones & plenty of lies and deception, I was second guessing everyone until the end. Overall, this was an entertaining, twisty mystery that kept me hooked & as always, I'm excited to see what Riley Sager comes up with next.
Perfect for fans of locked room mysteries, unreliable narrators & eerie island settings.
