Choc Lit | Death by Choc Lit

Description

What if you were powerless to protect the person you cared about most?
When Ruby finds out that her partner has done the unforgivable, she has no option but to move out of their home. With nowhere else to go, a job house-sitting in Cambridge seems like the perfect solution.

But it’s soon clear the absent owner hurts everyone he gets close to, and Ruby’s faced with the fallout. As violent repercussions unfold, her instinct is to investigate: it’s a matter of self-preservation. And besides, she’s curious…

But Ruby’s new boss, Nate Bastable, has his eye on her and seems determined to put a stop to her sleuthing. Is he simply worried for the welfare of a member of staff, or is there something altogether more complicated – and potentially dangerous – at play?

Featured Reviews

A clever mystery-suspense with a dash of romance set in Cambridge. I really enjoyed the unique setting of a home & a house-sitter. This creates unusual situations that aren't like most books of this genre.

Ruby gets lucky to land a job at a posh residence after a bit of bad luck with her long-time boyfriend. Her desire is to get away and "hide," and this new job provides both. She is lucky to have an understanding new boss, Nate, who also sparks some feelings in her. The home owner has a few peculiar requests, and then some unthinkable things start to happen. What really happened in Ruby's past? Who is the the real Damien and what is he up to? What is the meaning behind the provocative paintings in his bedroom? Is her life in danger? Can she move past the things that happened in her last relationship? Who is behind all the intrigue she's experiencing? Read to find out! Some twists that will take a bit to figure out, and you'll enjoy the journey getting there.

There happens to be another book which picks up after the conclusion of this story...I'll be reading it later this month as well!
