Data Strategy by Bernard Marr is a very good book and eye opening to read. I bookmarked so many pages to re-read again when I need it. Bernard Marr is a good witter, he has helped me make this book interesting, not complicated to read, and easy to understand. If you are interested to know about this topic, I really recommend this book, especially for an entrepreneur and business person. You cannot afford not to read this book.

I haven't heard about this author before, but I will definitely look for his other work.

Thank you Netgalley for this book.

Many will have heard of the term ‘big data’ but assumed it didn’t directly apply to them. Bzzzt! Wrong answer. This book will correct that misapprehension and show how big data, analytics and other technologies can be source of profit and advantage for many companies.

Written in an accessible manner, the author has done a good job in bringing the subject to light. It may come as a shock, once you understand how every business is now a data business, that less than one-half of one percent of all data gathered is ever analysed and used. A lot of waste that leads to a lot of potential, if deployed. Knowing what you have, what it can be used for, what value it may yield and what else you can gather are all covered in this book, before the reader is guided to making an implementation and execution plan to go forward.

Many real-world examples of big data usage are provided to show the reader how versatile it can be, and it need not be something only for the global megacorp to consider. Of course, the smaller company can get a lot of benefit too. Different implementations for different applications, and this is not a bad thing that devalues the overall utility of the toolset. Even if you are a passive observer, there is a lot of interest to be taken from the book if you just let it deliver.

It is a very inspiring read, something deserving of a wider audience. It can serve as the initial ‘shock and awe’ weapon before transforming into the powerful aid to deployment and future activity. It won’t be the only tool you need, but it can be an invaluable source of initial intelligence and a credible pathfinder for you.

Highly recommended reading, offered at an unbeatable price.
