I'm planning my first trip to Amsterdam soon, and was excited to be approved to review Time Out Amsterdam City Guide. This guide has given me some great ideas that I haven't come across with a brief internet search, or from other tour books I've read (granted most were outdated). The book has a simple, easy-to-read layout, which I really appreciate since I can't hold on to too much information. I was happy to see a section "Where to Spend It" - a shopping cheat sheet. There are day itineraries, 'getting started', and all other information that I (as a planner) need to have on hand for my trip :)
