Christmas at Cowenna Cove

The storyline involves the characters Grace, Oli, Tom and Amy on the run up to Christmas. Although a bit predictable a totally enjoyable read that keeps you turning the pages and leaves you with a festive warm feeling.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it included Christmas (my favourite holiday) and greyhounds (I am just about to rescue my 4th). I didn't know their favourite position was called roaching, so learned something on the way.This romance was tinged with sadness and different relationships which made it a good book to read

This is a delightful story that grabs you from the start. A lovely book to read at this time of year approaching the festive season.

This was such a delightful read. It was a treat to return to Conwenna Cove and I was completely romanticised again by the landscape. The fictional coastal village that the author has created sounds so idyllic with its quaint cottages and the little independent shops together with the beachside ambience but what makes this story more heartfelt is the occupants of the village. There is a real sense of community in the village from those that were born in the village to those that have sort solace and have been welcomed with open arms to this wonderful seaside location. I feel like I want to pack my case and have my own Conwenna Cove hug.

This story focuses on Grace Phillips who has travelled down to Cornwall from her home in Cardiff to help her parents settle in their new cottage in the Cove. Grace and her parents have suffered such a terrible loss and her parents are hoping that this new start will bring a new perspective to their life, a chance to reflect and a chance to embrace what life throws at them. Grace is an author so staying with her parents for a short while is no hardship to her career as she can work from anywhere. When Grace meets the village vet Oli Davenport she is struck by his handsome features but his aloof persona doesn't help him win friends too easily. However, given time Grace discovers more about Oli and with his huge commitment to the health and welfare of animals and to his devotion to his children, eleven year old Amy and five year old Tom, Grace appreciates this side to Oli.

Oli Davenport loves his children and loves his job but he is still grieving for his wife who sadly passed away two years ago. When he first meets Grace he is struck by her beauty but this sets off a chain reaction of confused emotions in him. His first priority is his children and he also feels like he shouldn't be having any feelings for any woman since becoming a widower. However, the more Oli and Grace get to know each other the more they understand that they each are holding a heartache and are still grieving.

Will the beautiful landscape, the wonderful honesty in children and the sad plight of the animals in need that Oli faces daily help these two people learn to love again?

A wonderful, heartfelt, festive read that left me sighing with contentment.

Cornwall, Christmas, Conwenna Cove, Children, Cute animals, Kind hearted humans are all the key ingredients that make up this fabulous book. At times I felt really emotional reading this due to what Oli and Grace have suffered in their pasts, and the rest of he time I was smiling and wishing I was part of the families in the book!

This is a second book set in Conwenna Cove, but it definitely works as a standalone. In fact we don't see a whole deal of Jack and Eve in this story, so if you haven't read the first book it won't affect your enjoyment of this one. That being said fans of Summer at Conwenna Cove will be delighted to see soe familiar faces, in and around the town.

To me it isn't Christmas without children, and thus this book wouldn't have been anywhere near as good had it not been for Tom and Amy, who are local vet Oli's kids, and about to have their second Christmas since Linda died.

Grace is only in Conwenna Cove to settle her parents into Rosehip Cottage, and then intends on going back to Cardiff. Yet as she spends longer in Cornwall, she finds herself drawn to Oli and his family, despite not really wanting to let anyone in.

Grace's parents are fabulous, I loved the way Simon (her dad) is a great cook, and between them make Oli and his family feel a lot happier. There are great people who aren't without their own heartache, which makes them really relatable too, and I would have loved them as my parents.

There are some adorable animals in this book, I especially loved Hope, and the family of cats. This really is just a great heart warming book from Darcie Boleyn, and I am hoping that we will see more from Conwenna Cove in the future.

This was a very enjoyable, and very Christmassy, story set in beautiful Cornwall.

All of the characters were so lovely and friendly and the whole book had such a lovely warm feeling to it. Grace was in Cornwall helping her parents settle into their new house and planned on staying until after Christmas, before moving back to her flat in Cardiff. She is an author so can really write anywhere.

Oli is a widower with two young children and the local vet. Grace and Oli soon strike up a friendship, although neither one of them is looking for a relationship. Oli's wife died two years ago and he thinks it is too soon for him to have a new relationship, and Grace's brother died 9 years ago of a possible hereditary condition so she has vowed never to have children and isn't interested in a long distance relationship anyway. But of course Conwenna Bay starts working it's magic on both of them and they start getting closer over the Christmas period.

There was also a greyhound rescue centre (with one poor abused dog in particular looking for a home), kittens looking for a new home and a really cute little boy (Oli's son). Really I'd just like to pack my bags and move to Conwenna Bay, it sounds like a wonderful place to live. I haven't read the previous book to this - yet - but that didn't detract from this book at all, just made me want to go back and read about Eve and Jack's story! Lovely feel-good book.

Grace, a successful author from Cardiff, is in Conwenna Cove to help her parents settle into their new home. As a family they mourn the loss of Sam, Graces older brother. Dealing with this and the lasting impact Sams illness and subsequent death, the last thing Grace is looking for is a new relationship.

Oli is the local vet in Conwenna Cove. Kind, helpful and handsome, he himself is also dealing with a tragedy of his own. The loss of his wife two years previous and being a single father to two young children has taken a lot from him, mentally and emotionally.

A chance meeting in a cafe one day puts Grace and Oli in their own individual turmoil. They are clearly attracted to ome another but will they be able to overcome their own self doubts enough to build a future together?

This was a lovely story by author Darcie Boleyn and even though you had a good idea of where the story was going, the journey was none the less enjoyable. The writing was straight forward and honest, leaving you wanting to embrace the likeable characters within tbe story.

A thoroughly pleasant read that I would recommend!

Ah now there’s a thing, a book with strands of personal truth as I too spent my honeymoon in Cornwall, not 30 years ago, only 25.
Ms Boleyn’s support of greyhound rescue dogs is well known and I just love the way she’s been able to weave this into the storyline. A widower, a writer, a magical place that embodies all the best parts of Christmas and lots and lots of animals. Quod erat demonstrandum...

Today I'm delighted to be kicking off the blog tour run by Canelo for the latest festive instalment from Darcie Boleyn - Christmas at Conwenna Cove. Although this is the second book in the Conwenna Cove series, it can be read as a total standalone novel , that said, if you read Summer at Conwenna Cove then there will be a few familiar faces making small cameo's.

Christmas at Conwenna Cove is a great, sweet read and perfect to curl up with this winter if you are after a delightfully romantic festive read.

We return to Conwenna Cove with Grace and Oli's story, Grace being in the area to help her parents settle in to their new home to see out their retirement years, and Oli is the local vet.
Grace and Oli meet quite early on into the story and although the attraction is obvious, both are wary and for good reasons too, I won't go into details too much as I dont want to ruin the bulk of the plot lines for you so lets just say they both have fragile hearts and over the course of the festive period, we see Grace not only grow closer to Oli bit to his two young children, Amy and Tom, too.

Darcie Boleyn has perfectly captured the essence of Christmas - not only does she write giving a great description of Conwenna Cove in Winter, she has also managed to capture the emotions of the characters - I often felt my heart breaking and eyes watering at the same time as chuckling away at the optimism and enthusiasm of 5 year old Tom, who for me was my favourite sub character bringing light relief to the heavier story lines and, lets face it - a child's excitement is what makes Christmas, right?!

Christmas at Conwenna Cove left me feeling warm and fuzzy with its wonderful characters, beautiful settings and in depth story lines - a brilliant festive story.

I have a confession to make . . . . I usually love books by this talented author, so I'm always on the look out for anything new by her. This time, however, she has surpassed herself. This is such a moving story with great characters, set in delightful community and written with such feeling it had me in tears at times (especially the beach scene saying bye to Sam - that isn't a spoiler, you'll need to read it yourself to discover just why it is so poignant).

Grace Phillips is a successful author who usually lives in her flat in Cardiff but she's planned to stay in Conwenna Cove over Christmas to help her parents as they move and settle into a cottage there. The community is so friendly and welcoming Grace is going to find it hard to leave. There are some lovely animals in the story, too, including a cat and her three kittens and a greyhound Grace names Hope. All have their roles to play in this story which has some really emotional moments and some cuddle up cosy ones, too.

Her first encounter with the local vet, Oli Davenport, is anything but friendly - he's downright rude! He's also a widower, has two delightful children and really cares about animals, too, so maybe he isn't quite so bad, after all! He's reticent to start anything as he doesn't want to pain of loving and losing again after his wife died almost two years ago from cancer. As the snow starts to fall over this community, can the Cove work its magic and help these two with tragedies in their past find romance together? The chemistry is certainly there but will they be willing to risk their hearts again?

This is a fantastic festive read I have no hesitation whatsoever in highly recommending. I've loved other books by this author in the past but I think this is my favourite title from her so far!

I’ve been looking forward to reading Christmas at Conwenna Cove – I really enjoy Darcie Boleyn’s books and I don’t say this lightly, but this is the perfect Christmas read.

I’ve shed tears over this novel, not something I do routinely but this one has everything .. setting, occasion, realistic characters, families, children, romance, great food and a hint of sadness teamed with a great story and wonderful writing. My tears have been both happy and sad, and this is not a story I will forget easily. It is a class above, without a doubt .. and yes, I share my name with a character – not something which happens every day!

If you want a festive read to get you in the holiday mood, you can’t go wrong with this one. It gets a full five glittering, pulsating stars from me and earns each and every one.

Oh what a truly wonderful and delightful read, which had lots of Christmas cosy moments throughout the story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this whilst curled up on my sofa.

The author draws you right in to  the story pretty quickly with meeting and getting to know all of the characters and experiencing the illidicit setting and location, was so very easy to lose myself in this story.

As for the storyline, it was brilliant, lots going on from one character to another.  It was so very well written, plus a few emotional moments thrown in that I wasn't expecting, just so heartfelt.

Oh and this review wouldn't be complete unless the animals got a mention as they do play a very important role within the story and I loved them all, so wanted to take them all home with me.

This was a warm, delightful, romantic book. The perfect Christmas read.

Brilliant! Love love love this! Finished last night, couldn’t go to bed until it was ended! Fabulous writing and a touching story. Few tears were shed in a good way!

Even though this is the second visit to Conwenna Cove this book does actually makes for a perfect standalone. However you would be missing out on Eve and Jack's story along with an adorable greyhound called Gabe. So if you get chance I definitely recommend reading the gorgeous Summer at Conwenna Cove.

The wonderful descriptions of Conwenna will easily pull you into the story just as they did for me. I felt like I was in my own little bubble while reading, completely wrapped up in Grace and Oli's story. There is tragedy in both of their pasts that gives a little emotional pull and I was smiling as they began a tentative friendship.

I loved the little glimpses of characters that I first met in book one especially Eve and Jack. Then you have the lovely addition of Grace's parents, Tom and Amy. There are themes such as grief, loss and family but most of all love all packaged together to make a delightful festive story. Along with a couple of funny moments one in particular involving Grace and her mum Louise in the cafe. I would have been giggling too and I could easily imagine something like that happening to me! These moments lighten the mood perfectly, I have to admit to being a pretty emotional person and there were moments where I had tears in my eyes. Note to self don't read any sad parts on the commute to work. I may have got a few strange looks!

Darcie Boelyn writes the most heart warming and comforting stories that completely wrap you up in the characters lives. If you have never read a book by Darcie Boleyn you are definitely missing out. They really are a warm and loveable treat, I can't recommend them enough!

Conwenna Cove is once again the perfect place to heal and find yourself. There is so much to love about this story with a beautiful sprinkling of hope, love and family - perfect!

Ok, so it’s probably a well known fact by now that I am a huge fan of Darcie Boleyn’s books, add in Cornwall (I’m a little biased!) and Christmas what more could I want!

Christmas at Conwenna Cove takes us back to the idyllic place where we spent summer but don’t fret if you haven’t read that one this works well as a stand alone.

I adore the laid back easy style of story telling that is so gentle but tackles some serious subjects along the way. Grace is helping her parent’s settle into Conwenna with the intention of returning to Cardiff afterwards. However Grace bumps into Oli the Vet, as much as he is a bit gruff there does seem to be a hint of interest between them. Oli is nursing a broken heart though after losing his wife to cancer and he has his hands full being mum and dad to his two kids.

Grace is such a likeable lady, she has her own grief to contend with. Her parents are wonderful, truly loving and caring and still worry about her regardless of her being an adult.

In Summer at Conwenna Cove my heart was stolen by Gabe the greyhound .. there is another one in this book whose situation will have you in bits. It is abundantly clear the author loves her dogs 🙂 animal lovers are well catered for with some cute kittens, while Oli’s son Tom adds the cuteness factor for Christmas.

Cosy up by the fire with a mug of steaming hot chocolate and drift off to Conwenna Bay you won’t regret it. Another superb book from Darcie who seems to keep getting better and better. All my expectations were surpassed this is a bundle of love, hope and Christmas joy.

I just loved this book, such a festive treat and what a magical story!! 

I thought that the plot was perfect and the characters were superb, they worked so well together and I genuinely enjoyed every page, it is a truly heart warming story - I have only read a few Christmas books in 2017 so far but this one has to be my favourite yet - in fact I think I'd fallen in love with it as soon as I'd seen the book cover - 5 stars from me and I've already been recommending it to anyone who will listen, a really nice romantic book that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside - really did love this one!!

After reading another of Boleyn's books 'Summer at Conwenna Cove' a week or so ago, I quickly started reading this one as I really enjoyed the first in the Conwenna Cove series. However, it quickly became evident that the plot was virtually the same; vulnerable male meets vulnerable female; neither quite ready for a relationship, however things conspire to throw them together; couple gets together and lives happily ever after. When I realised how predictable the plot was - seriously, it felt like the names and vocations of the characters had been changed and everything else was the same - I gave up with the book a little. However I picked it up again a few days later and I was really pleased I persevered. Despite the similarities in plots, I loved that this one had a warm and cheery festive twist, and I found this book far more emotive and tugged on the heartstrings than the first Conwenna Cove book. I really warmed to the main characters, and after finishing the book I was left with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. If chick lit is your thing, this is a definite 5-star read!

As soon as I got my copy of Christmas at Conwenna Cove it immediately went straight to the top of my to be read pile as I absolutely loved Summer at Conwenna Cove and I was very excited and eager to get back to Conwenna! This series is just awesome!

This time the book is based on a brilliant character called Grace. She is really easy to like and you instantly connect with her. Its not long before the local vet Oli catches her eye, from the minute they meet there is definitely a spark between them. They definitely are two people destined to be together both so kind and caring.

What I loved about their relationship was that the writer of the book didn't drag out 'them getting together' through the whole book which you often find in romance books, and they got together pretty quickly so you are able to enjoy their relationship and see their romance blossom throughout the book.

The book really is a feel good read, in fact I read the whole book with a huge grin on my face as I just enjoyed every single page and I must say this is one of the best books I have read this year! I loved it that much that I had to drag out the last few chapters as I didn't want the book to end!

I really recommend you read Christmas at Conwenna Cove because it is a pure joy to read.

This has turned out to be my favourite festive read so far but I know there are plenty of reading days left until Christmas! It has it all- a beautiful setting, a warm and friendly community and some interesting characters. I particularly liked Grace Phillips, who is in the village to help her parents who seem to have the kindest hearts. Grace may be a successful writer, but she has her insecurities and the whole family are coming to terms with a tragedy in their past. They aren't the only family in the village to be coping with loss and trying to move on. At this time of year, grief is all the more poignant.

Just right for a cosy, winter festive read, there is a lot going on in the background. There are animals who are in need of new homes and Oli's children who are trying to carry on despite their loss. You find yourself willing them all on, hoping that the festive season will weave its spell over them. Ultimately it is a hopeful romance, with the promise of new beginnings.

festive, heartwarming and hopeful!

Very often I aim to read Christmas books during December as we prepare for Christmas. I have this picture of reading in a cosy chair, warm fire, hot chocolate and the Christmas tree lit. The reality is very different, December is always very busy here at Serendipity Loves. Given the opportunity to read Christmas at Conwenna Cove in October - we jumped at the chance.

Christmas is a time for Children, family gatherings, good food and of course a touch of romance. The main characters are Grace Phillips and Oli Davenport. Together with Grace and Oli's respective parents (Simon, Grace's Dad is a great cook - you can almost smell his dinners as you read!) and Oli's children - Tom and Amy, and with Oli being the local vet a greyhound - Hope - and cat with a family of kittens. These characters plus a gorgeous setting in a cove in Cornwall, makes for an amazing Christmas read.

Grace is a successful author who lives in her flat in Cardiff, she is spending sometime at Conwenna Cover over the Christmas period to help her parents as they settle into their Rosehip cottage. As the story unfolds, Grace finds it very difficult to leave the Cove, the inhabitants are very warm and friendly. That is with the exception of her first meeting at the local Cafe with Oli, he is nothing but hostile to Grace. Her second meeting with Oli, at the local pub she sees a different side to him, he has two children, has a great love for animals, a widower. As she sees more and more of Oli, she warms to him although it is always in the back of her mind, she will return to her flat in Cardiff.

Both Grace and Oli have had their hearts broken. Oli lost his wife (Linda) to cancer and both him and children are facing their second Christmas alone with her. But Oli, cannot face losing anyone else from his life and feels disrespectful to Linda if he loves another. Grace, lost her brother to a genetic disease and has decided she won't have children, in fear of passing on the gene and also feels as though life would be better alone.

Everyone talks about the magic of the Cove, will it work it's wonder and bring the two together? Will a quiet whisper into Santa's ear bring Tom's Christmas wish?

I really enjoyed this book, read it in under 24 hours, it is without a doubt a feel good Christmas story. It not only covers love, hope and family, it covers grief, how it feels to love and to have lost, children's hopes and wishes, strength and determination to move into the future. It is very well written and a must read before the festive season.

What's not to love? It's the most magical time of the year and also happens to be my most favourite holiday. I love any story that is cantered around Christmas; it’s a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate life.
This was a fun, quirky, fast read and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I enjoyed Darcie Boleyn’s writing style and felt as though I was a part of the magic of Conwenna Cove.
Can the magic of the Christmas season bring together two lost souls, emotionally drained from the loss of loved ones, each determined to survive but not really living and enjoying life? Can a wish whispered into Santa’s ear by a small boy make a wish come true?
Conwenna Cove sounds like a beautiful place to live and I found this story to be full of hope, love and family; of strength and determination and all in all a heart warming read.

This is the second in the Conwenna Cove series and I loved the first one. Conwenna Cove sounds so delightful and a return at Christmas was particularly welcome.

It has everything- Christmas magic in abundance, families, cute animals and children, romance and the most beautiful setting.

Grace falls in love with the charm of the Cornish cove when she helps her parents move in. Oli, the local vet has 2 children. They are both dealing with personal tragedies and not looking for love- but there is a definite spark in the air between the two. I loved the way they got to know each other and that happiness is just around the corner.

Review: Another amazing visit to Conwenna Cove and this time in Snow!

I fell in love with Grace. I can relate to her and love her character. Also the fact that she is a fellow writer. The background to her story which explains the fear she is feeling, I wont give anything away, but pulls at your heart-strings. As does Oli and his little family. The close-knit community are very protective of this family but Grace's passion shines through and wins them over.

The Magic of Conwenna Cove certainly worked its magic on me but you will have to read this book to see if it does for Oli and Grace.

A great book to snuggle up with on the lead up to Christmas.

When I got asked if I wanted to be part of the blog tour for Christmas at Conwenna Cove, I jumped at the chance - who wouldn't? I absolutely loved the first one so I knew I would love the second - plus it was set at Christmas, which is already a winner in my books. Then I saw the cover reveal and instantly fell in love with it.

When I read the book, I can't believe how much I actually did enjoy it. I managed to read it in under a day and in that time I fell in love with Oli and Grace's story. Grace has come to Conwenna Cove to help her parents settle in to Rosehip Cottage (what a cute name) but doesn't realise she'll fall in love with the village herself. Oli, who is the vet in the village, hasn't wanted a relationship since his wife died, but the pair come together and the Christmas magic has something in store for them.

The book was incredibly romantic and Christmassy. The use of the Christmas markets, gingerbread spiced drinks and Oli's children decorating a tree made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and I found myself really looking forward to Christmas. The snow and the friendly villagers made me wish that I lived in Conwenna Cove myself!

The characters in Christmas at Conwenna Cove are all absolutely lovely and I really loved Oli's children Amy and Tom. They were so cute and really set the Christmas novel off nicely. Both Oli and Grace had been through a lot in their life and have both suffered a terrible loss so it was nice to see them coming together and relating to each other. One other thing I adored is the amount of greyhounds in the story - something I feel really passionate about because it's my dream to adopt a couple too!

Overall, I couldn't get enough of this book. There was a beautiful romance, a bit of humour and lots of Christmas spirit. Thank you to publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

This is not the first book I have had the pleasure of listening to via my iPad's VoiceOver. I just LOVE Darcie Boleyn's books. I have listened to Love at the Italian Lake and also Summer at Conwenna Cove. It was wonderful to revisit Conwenna Cove in this, the second novel located in the small Cornish town.

The book is the second of Darcie Boleyn's in my Kinda library that has a Christmas theme. The first was A Very Many Manhattan Christmas.

The only reason Grace is in Conwenna Cove is to help her parents move into Rosehip Cottage. She thinks Conwenna Cove is pretty, but not for her as she's used to the flat she rents in central Cardiff which is a stone's throw away from the shops and station. Therefore it's a wrench for her to be there.

Her parents are lovely people: her dad loves cooking and they are both very hospitable. Grace went through the loss of her brother to cystic fibrosis and the grief of the event is still very much present in her life. She copes with it by writing and is a published author.

Oli is the town's vet and lost his wife. He has a cute five year old son called Tom.

Darcie Boleyn is now one of my go to authors, one I know will never disappoint me and that I can pick up one of her books and be transported immediately to another world. I have to say that world normally causes me to put on a few pounds though as there are always the most delicious and lavishly described foods in her books and Christmas at Conwenna Cove is no different! From the cafe’s to the Christmas markets, there were goodies galore on the menu for the characters here so if you aren’t hungry before you start, you soon will be!

I loved being back in Conwenna Cove and as soon as I saw the authors signature greyhound on the front cover, I knew I was back amongst friends. Grace has come to Conwenna Cove with her parents to help them settle into their new home. They have had a family tragedy that has made them all much closer to each other and, although Grace plans to go back to Cardiff eventually, she is lucky that she can work from home. But then she meets Oli and his adorable young family and suddenly those plans don’t seem so desirable, unlike the captivating veterinary surgeon! My heart ached for both our main protagonists here. Oli had lost his wife and was trying to be the best parent to his kids but love second time around seems to be filled with guilt even though his children would love to see him happy again. Grace was facing her own demons, and from a personal point of view her story really did touch me deeply. Her lifestyle choice was a very difficult one to make and as one who has to make a similar decision (all be it in a different direction) I felt her situation was handled very positively but realistically. In fact, I don’t know how Darcie does it but she always seems to write very emotional scenarios that speak to me in a very personal level. Which means I am forever reading her books with a permanent lump in my throat which leads to plenty of snotty tears by the end!

The setting of Conwenna Cove lends itself just as well to the cold and darkness of the festive season as it does the summer sunshine -it actually made me want the snow and frosty mornings to arrive even though I’m much more of a summer girl myself! This gorgeously written and perfectly pitched love story is filled with such sensitivity and understanding of the issues raised that I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a heartwarming tale that comes across with a genuine interest in the characters and the stories they have to tell and that is why I love this authors books so much! She makes me laugh and she makes me cry and every single time I finish one of her books I feel like I am leaving behind real people. Make sure you have tissues at the ready, a hot chocolate with all the works (marshmallows, squirty cream, a flake….) and then snuggle down into the cosiest, squishiest chair you can find because you’re off to celebrate a Conwenna Christmas and you aren’t going to want to leave!

A "feel good" Christmas book to get me into the festive spirit. Loved it.

This was the perfect story to curl up with especially on a cold winter night.

Gracie helps her parents move to Conwenna Cove in cornwall and meets up with local vet Oli. First off she doesn't like him but over time things change. She gets to meet his lovely children. Oli lost his wife two years previous.

A lovely Christmas heartwarming story.

Now that we are only a couple of months away for. Christmas I just love 'readiing these kind of stories to get me in the mood

I've never disliked a book by Darcie so I was really looking forward to this one. It's the second in the Conwenna Cove series but can easily be read as a stand alone. (Although you're missing a treat if you don't read Summer at Conwenna Cove as well!)

I loved this one - you never disappoint, Darcie!.

I'm not going to summarise the story - that's what the blurb is for. Suffice to say there's a lot more to it than the blurb indicates. The children are lovely - Oli, the recalcitrant vet is a wonderful character and Grace is very, very human! And there are animals, particularly a gorgeous greyhound!

Really hope there are more to come in this series - I so enjoy the warmth in these books!

I don't normally read Christmas books in October, but I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, so here goes.

I have previously read one other book by Darcie Boleyn, Love at the Italian Lake, and I enjoyed that. Christmas at Conwenna Cove was even better. I noticed also that this is book 2 in the Conwenna Cove series, but it works as a standalone.

I loved Grace, the main character. I liked all the other characters too - there's no-one to dislike - everyone's nice. There is a lot of love and warmth, but also poignancy in this story. It works beautifully as a feel-good Christmas read, but it does have some depth too, when you discover Grace and Oli's back stories. Add to that the work Oli does as a vet in rescuing abandoned pets, there is quite a lot going on.

Darcie has written a very good story, and sprinkled some glitter on top. The descriptions of Cornwall are beautiful, and the Christmas details are enough to make me excited about Christmas even though it's a couple of months off yet.

I would definitely recommend this book. One thing, I did think the donkey scene was a bit too cheesy, but it's a minor point and hey, it's nearly Christmas!

This is such a lovely book to put you in a Christmassy mood with just the right amount of poignancy too. One bit did make me cry but overall it's really uplifting with some great characters. I warmed to both Oli and Grace even though they are each coping with grief in their own way. Lovely supporting cast from Grace's parents too and I loved to see what her father would whip up in the kitchen next. This book really made me want to spend Christmas in Cornwall, or rather in Conwenna Cove.

Grace Phillips is a successful author, who has a close relationship with her parents and is more than happy being single.  When her parents move to Conwenna Cove, she follows them to help them settle in, always with the intention of returning to her flat in Cardiff.

Oli Davenport has spent the last three years just surviving.  His beloved wife lost her battle with cancer, leaving him alone with his two young children and his veterinary practice.

I must admit that I have not read Summer at Conwenna Cove - so I look forward to picking it up! At no point did I feel like I was missing any vital details in this novel though, so I can confirm that this can be read as a standalone.  This novel is full of festive cheer, which despite it being only October, I loved!  I really enjoyed both Grace and Oli's characters, and following the journey that they are both on.  Both characters have suffered a great personal loss, and are able to relate to each other in a way that some others cannot.  Grace and Oli both feel guilt at their attraction to each other, something they each have to overcome during their journeys.

As I have said on many book reviews previously, nothing about this novel is a surprise.  You know how it is going to end.  However that is exactly the point.  This novel is a piece of festive escapism, set in a beautiful village with no surprises.  It is a lovely romance, and reading it is the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon with a glass of wine!  So go grab yourself a copy, whilst I go and grab myself a copy of Summer at Conwenna Cove and reacquaint myself with that gorgeous village!

Oli is the local vet who has still not got over the loss of his wife to cancer and is having to bring up his young son and daughter on his own, he could have the pick of the local girls but he is not ready to think about romance yet, his children must be his priority

Yet when Oli and Grace meet the sparks fly - Oli is completely taken by the red haired warm hearted girl and cant stop thinking about her........and he is definitely spurred on by his children who have also taken a great liking to her

A lovely warm hearted book, perfect for Christmas and it is great to be back in Conwenna Cove with the characters from the previous book......especially the greyhounds!

At first, Grace Phillips thinks her parents are a little foolish for upping sticks and moving to the little village they spent their honeymoon in 30 years earlier. But once Grace gets q look at lovely Cowenna Cove, she understands completely. It’s nearly Christmas, and the little village is decorated to the nth degree, upping the charm factor. The she meets the local vet, Oli Davenport. He may be easy on the eye, but his attitude leaves a bit to be desired. It’s not until Grace sees how much Oli loves his kids and the animals he treats, that she sees the good man underneath the gruff exterior. Grace wants to get closer to the widower, but can he get over the death of his wife and find a way to see a future with another woman? A lovely Christmas story with all the trimmings, a lovely village, a handsome but trouble hero and a smart, caring heroine.

A good easy read and very predictable but enjoyable although I think there are some parts of the book which could be improved. The boy who woke to go to the toilet would have not been sufficiently awake to overhear a conversation happening downstairs. Also, I really doubt that he would have left home in such weather in the middle of the night. Then it was so improbable that he would have been found so easily and quickly. I think the book would benefit for this part to be changed.

I enjoyed this book. This was another fab book by Darcie. I was hooked from the first few pages and could not put it down.
A great read for these cold dark nights with Christmas just round the corner.

This is the time of year when I’m already getting into the Christmas spirit and Christmas at Conwenna Cove was the perfect read to start off the holiday season.

Set in the small Cornish village of Conwenna Cove, the story centers around a writer named Grace Phillips who is helping her parents move there. While in Conwenna, Grace meets Oli Davenport who is the local veterinarian. He is a widower and a single father of two young children whose wife passed a way from cancer two years ago. Oli resembles Tom Hardy so *insert heart and flames emojis here*.

When the two first meet Oli initially seems stand offish but as the story flows and they get to know each other the magic happens. Oli is still mourning the loss of his wife and Grace has never gotten over losing her brother Sam, so the two of them share a connection over the loss of a loved one. Grace gets to know Oli’s two children, who were adorable by the way, and the interactions with the kids made me smile. I liked both Grace and Oli and that there were stray animals being rescued in the storyline was a plus. This is part two in the Conwenna Cove books but it reads perfectly as a stand alone.

Author Darcie Boleyn writes small town life nicely, I felt like I was visiting Conwenna and I’d love to go back. She creates characters you can care about and this is a cozy small town holiday romance to be enjoyed. The goodies that they were eating and drinking set the mood just right as well.

Christmas at Conwenna Cove is perfectly sweet romance that put a smile on my face and even had me tearing up towards the end. I recommend this one if you enjoy nice Christmas romance, small town settings and second chances. I feel like this one needs to be made into one of those Hallmark channel holiday movies.

Grace is helping her parents settle into their new home in Conwenna Cove and enjoying the peace as a break from her Cardiff life. A successful author but unsuccessful in love. She meets Oli, the local vet and widower with two children who penetrate Grace’s hardened heart but can their feelings blossom?

I am not normally a fan of Xmas romance books but this was beautiful. Funny, romantic, emotional and a brilliant read. Although this is the second in a series, I hadn’t read the first and although it isn’t necessary I will now be purchasing it.

The first book I have read by Darcie Bole but it won't be the last. I want to move to Corwenna Cove. Slightly predictable end but a lovely easy read on a cold, dismal day. Felt like I was actually in Corwenna enjoying the lives of the characters.

A lovely heart warming story of a girl who has given up on relationships when she stays with her parents who have just moved into a Cornish village. She meets a prickly village vet and after a series of misunderstandings they admit they are in love. The characters are very well described and easy to relate to. An easy, but compelling read. Perfect for a duvet day, it kept me absorbed to the last page.

An easy to read book that many will relate to. Even rescued greyhounds find a place in it. Being widowed because his wife died of cancer Oli the local vet really has enough to deal with, 2 children ,work etc. He has not thought of looking for a new love.

Until he meets Grace. It doesn't begin well but over time Christmas and Cornwall change things and feelings.

The best book for a cold weekend, snuggled beneath a throw with hot chocolate and a roaring fire. You can't help but feel uplifted. Laughs and sadness, unexpected love, a village Christmas in a pretty setting with all the traditional trimmings. Maybe a little predictable but a lovely read in a world full of stress.

This is ideal for present giving or just treat yourself to a bit of Cornish escapism.

Darcie Boleyn continues to write super books, looking forward to the next one.

The perfect read for this time of year, ‘Christmas at Cowenna Cove’ is a delightful festive read that I enjoyed immensely. It was so nice to catch up with the characters from the previous book, and I hope we get the opportunity to meet up with them again in the future. A heartwarming 4 stars.

5☆ The Perfect Christmas Romance, Heart Warming, feel good, didn't want it to end!

Christmas at Conwenna Cove is the second book in the Conwenna Cove Series.
This most definitely can be read as a standalone.

I was absolutely thrilled to be back at Conwenna Cove for Christmas. It was like I had never left!

This time round we meet Grace and her parents Louise and Simon who have just moved into Rosehip Cottage.
We also meet the very sexy local Vet Oliver (Oli) and his adorable children Tom and Amy.

Oliver has had a really tough few years when his lovely wife Linda passes away 2years ago. Oliver has never even looked at another women since. Well that is until he meets Grace.
Something between them instantly spark and the chemistry between them is buzzing!

Grace too is grieving, she too lost someone very close to her. Her brother Sam. Grace has not been able to let her guard down since. But that is until she meets Oli and his children.

All of the gorgeous animals that Oil helps and the important messages being portrayed within the book about neutering etc..
My sister is a Vet Nurse so I really related to all the amazing work Oli does at the vets.

Now I have to mention Hope! The gorgeous and gentle greyhound. If you are a dog lover like me, be prepared to shed a tear as she fills your heart with love!

I adored Grace and Oli, their tortured souls learning to trust and love again. It was so beautiful to see. It was like watching a flower blossom. They melted my heart.

Tom and Amy, Oli's children, wow such amazing children! By far my favourite characters!!
After everything they have gone through, all they wanted was to see their Dad happy.
I adored watching Grace and their relationship grow.  I just know you are going to fall in love with them just like I did!!
 
Christmas at Conwenna Cove is such a heartwarming read it melted my heart and I shed a tear or two.

Darcie has this way of making you fall in love with Conwenna Cove and the residents that live there.
The whole way through i was falling deeper and deeper into the story, and before I knew it I was at the end!
I was so disappointed I didn't want it to end!  I really really hope there is more from Grace and Oil as by far they are my favourite characters!!

I loved Darcie's first book Summer at Conwenna Cove and I have to say Christmas at Conwenna Cove is even better!!

This is a Compelling yet feel good story about, family, learning to love again, relationships, new beginnings, grief, gorgeous animals, I laughed alot, smiled, shed a tear, and fell in love with Conwenna Cove and all the fantastic Characters within.

I urge you all to pick up Christmas at Conwenna Cove and read it as I know you won't be disappointed!!!

So the big question is.... would i recommend this book........... without a doubt...100000% ...... YES!!!!!

A perfect Holiday Read for those who love Chick Lit and Romance, Humour, Heartwarming, Poignant reads, Animals, Christmas.

Grace goes to Conwenna to help her parents move there. She planned on staying there for a short period of time, but not all things go according to plan. Her path crosses with a local vet Oli, who is a widower with two children. They are both cautious about love and going into a new relationship, but if the feelings are real it’s worth the risk nevertheless.

It’s the second book in Conwenna Cove series, but can be read as a standalone. There were a few moments with the main characters from the first book, but it won’t confuse readers, who haven’t read the first book yet. I absolutely loved this book-it’s well written and sucks you into the story right away. I liked how it dealt with serious topics that pull on your heartstrings as well as what’s the meaning of love and a family and pets had a great part in the book as well. I very much enjoyed reading it and I hope there will be more books in the series.

Conwenna Cove sounds like the most idyllic small village, the perfect place to have a snowy Christmas. I did not read the first in the series, so you can go ahead and read this without missing anything. The characters are just so nice and warm, no villains. Just a sweet book about finding love again after loss.

So we're back at Conwenna Cove, Cornwall, and although there are a couple of mentions about Eve and Jack from Summer At Conwenna Cove, this festive novel is about the village vet, Oli and his two children, Amy and Tom. 
Grace's parents - Simon and Louise - have moved to Conwenna Cove from Cardiff. They move in to Rosehip Cottage (how cute does that sound?) and whilst Grace is wandering around Conwenna Cove, she meets vet Oli at the cafe. And the rest is history. Chuck in a few heart breaks on either side, some mixed messages and family drama and the novel is complete.
I did really enjoy this novel. It's light and fluffy and festive, with heart break without it being too serious. The only thing that got on my nerves was at points I felt like I was being spoken to like a child. I don't have the exact quote but it went along the lines of "we have to be nice to animals as well as people." Well duh! Otherwise, I enjoyed it.

I loved this book!
I mostly read on the train and found myself smiling along with this book during my journeys.
It is a lovely story of finding what you didn't know you wanted in life and grabbing it with both hands, a story of new lives and fresh starts.
It is well written and the characters are warm, friendly and loveable.
I would recommend this to anyone who likes a feel-good story, especially one set over Christmas!

But during their second "bump-in" in another cafe, both parties feel the spark. Little do they know that this is a beginning of a beautiful... "friendship".

Neither Oli nor Grace are looking for anyone special in their lives. Just what Santa ordered! A good helping of romance & festiveness, with some adorable characters. So well-written & believable, it was like opening a window into some real lives. Highly recommended

This is one totally delightful Christmas romance. Set in the gorgeous Cornish village of Conwenna Cove. Grace helps her parents move there to a delightful cottage after having honeymooned there 30 years ago. Once there she is in no hurry to return to her flat in another town as she makes friends there in Conwenna and the people are friendly and welcoming. How about going to the pub with us,having a cuppa or stopping at the cafe they ask. After meeting town's veterinarian,Oli they try not to let the other know of their interest in each other. It just may not be the right time. Oli is a widower who lost his wife to breast cancer and it not only stole his wife from him but his children's mother and his happiness. Go on he must though he has a thriving vet practice and an 11 year old daughter and 5 year old son. As Oli and his children start spending more time together Oli is concerned his children will get too attached for her and she will move back to her flat leaving the children and him heartbroken again. Out shopping one day his son asks Santa for something and we can guess what it is,a Mommy for Christmas :) This has to be one of the sweetest,clean Christmas books I've read. It has left me with such a warm fuzzy feeling as I read it sipping my tea and eating biscuits!
