Description

Dinosaurs may be gone, but we can learn from their fossils! Ultimate Expeditions: Dinosaur Hunters gives you facts, and even lets you make 3D models of 8 dinos.

Though dinosaurs are long extinct, their bones can be used to piece together the puzzle of their past. Fossil hunter Jackson Foster has just returned from a three-month expedition uncovering the remains of dinosaurs that roamed across North America millions of years ago, and he has a fascinating tale to tell.

From the massive and toothy Tyrannosaurus rex to the speedy Coelophysis that traveled in packs, Ultimate Expeditions: Dinosaur Hunter brings to life eight incredible creatures, with illustrations, maps, fossil finds, and facts about when, where, and how they lived.

Accompany Foster on his thrilling adventures, and take a trip beyond the page and back to a time when animals were larger than elephants, some weighing more than 88,000 pounds! Follow the assembly instructions to create your own fierce 3-D models of each dinosaur.

One thing I remember from all my years visiting and working at libraries - children love dinosaur books. And this is a very good Dinosaur book. Ultimate Expeditions Dinosaur Hunter is full of lovely dinosaur drawings and facts. Perfect for the young Dinosaur Hunter, and would make a great gift.

As a parent I thought this book was wonderful as it takes you on an indepth and educational journey to understand dinosaurs. It even starts with a letter from your ‘tour guide’ who explain he just finished an expedition.

The illustrations and photographs provide this feeling you are reading a real journal that is accompanied by easy to read notes on the various dinos and their habitats.

My kids loved it and want a printed version particularly as that, as opposed to the digital copy I have, comes with hands on activities to bring the information to life.

If you have a dinosaur fan I, and my kids, highly recommend picking this up – would make a great Christmas gift!

Join paleontologist Jackson Foster, and his team, on a fossil hunting expedition throughout North America, from Canada's wilds to arid Arizona as they dig up some of the continent’s most unusual Saurs.

Honovich’s Ultimate Expeditions: Dinosaur Hunter takes the reader throughout North America, getting to know some of its most ancient residents. Each entry has basic stat information, such as height, length, estimated weight, era, and name pronunciation and meaning. Beautiful sketches are labelled with salient features of each beastie, and pertinent facts are listed with each. From battle scenes to nests with eggs and babes,, there are many lifestyle sketches that gave an idea as to how the dinosaurs lived. Most entries included pictures taken of the modern terrain, or of the fossils themselves.

I read this book with my cubs, and we all enjoyed the delightful drawings. Most of the creatures were plant-eaters of some type. I get that there was more variation among herbivorous dinos, but it would have been nice to see more than just t-rex and coelophysis as carnivores. Some of that may have had to do with the time frame the expedition took place in, though I think there had been finds falling in the raptor category by then. There was one pterosaur and one aquatic represented. Many of the dinos had sketches of close kin, such as parasaurolophus, and lambeosaurus with corythosaurus.

Perfect for the dinosaur lovers in your life!

This is a wonderful "tour" through dinosaurs which children will enjoy. I read the digital edition, but the paper edition's diorama parts would be even more fun. The illustrations and information were excellent. I highly recommend this book!
