I thought this was such an interesting and important book. I loved to learn about the women and it was fascinating to learn about the ones I never heard of. The art work was stunning and they were the cutest depictions ever. I liked the inclusion of the other women the author would include as that was really fascinating too.

Books about important women in history are so important, as women are not much of a subject of discussion in school history lessons (well, when I was in school we only covered the suffragettes) and when they are they are white, so when books about women who are not white exist, it’s an awesome thing.

These short biographies make a statement that Harrison delivers with such passion. Short but succinct for each woman in the book, she tells the story of more well known women like Rosa Parks but also puts a spotlight on lesser known women who have also made an impact on the world, including Mary Savage and Alice Ball.

Accompanying each biography is the artwork. It’s adorable and really brings this book together beautifully. The artwork for women such as Harriet Tubman and Alma Woodsey-Thomas are ones that stand out to me, however this book is full of fantastic art that works perfectly throughout the book, bold and bright throughout.

A fantastic book that highlights incredible women, it’s a fantastic read from start to finish. I hope the author makes more books like this and this is the start of the series.
