Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the Publishers for this review copy, given in exchange for an honest review.

I'm the first to admit I'm not a very good knitter, but I am a sucker for knitting books and flicking through adorable patterns. This one is no exception!! A lovely book with patterns and designs for one -piece knits. The instructions are clearly laid out and there are patterns for different sizes, with some of the patterns having children's, women's and men's guides. The pictures are clear, and there are good starting instructions for the not as advanced at the beginning of the book. Some of the designs are a bit 'plain' but most of them are nice, modern patterns.

I wouldn't say this book is for beginners, but if you know how to knit then you would definitely be able to work your way through this book!

This book provides size guidelines/measurements and approximate yarn amounts for all sizes from a size 2 child to a woman’s 5X and a man’s XX. The top down raglan sweater is offered in all sizes using a table, and the basic raglan can be dressed up with a center cabled panel or with “lacy interest.” For the men, a color block option is offered. Also included: top down yoke sweaters, back-to-front styles, vests, cardigans, side-to-side sweaters, lace options, and even a shrug. A variety of necklines and sleeve options, buttonholes, pockets, and zipper insertion are shown as well. Colorful, clear illustrations compliment the text. Even with the plethora of free patterns offered online, this book is an excellent reference for both the budding knitwear designer, and anyone who likes the idea of knitting a sweater in one piece.

I love to knit but hate to sew, so I generally restrict myself to knitting only seamless articles. This book features designs that do require some sewing (sleeves, underarms and sides) but it is much less than that required when you knit in pieces and then have to sew the whole thing together. This book is for sweaters only (both cardigans and pullovers) and covers four construction styles: raglan sleeves knitted top down, yoke style knitted top down, side to side knitting and knitted from bottom of the back over the shoulder down to bottom front. I've knitted a lot of top down sweaters and a few side to side but haven't tried the other method yet. Each chapter has a few patterns illustrating the relevant method, some of which I would definitely like to knit. However, this is primarily a guide book for one-piece knitting. There are charts that can be used for knitting sweaters in a wide range of sizes and using several yarn weights. You can choose your own stitches and design touches. This book will probably be most useful to people who like to design their own sweaters.

There is a pattern for a hood in case you want to add that to any of the sweaters. All lace patterns are fully written out rather than being charted, which I appreciate. The book demonstrates how to cast on stitches, make buttonholes and knit neckbands but beginning knitters would certainly need another reference book.

I received a free pdf copy of the book from the publisher but I will probably buy a physical copy when it's published.

The subject matter of this book would be of interest to my library crafting group. The charts of measurements enabling readers to customize the patterns for any size person is a selling point. In reader's advisory, I may want to make sure that the reader is comfortable with navigating the charts and understands that it is a book focused on specific techniques, not a collection several patterns. If you know anyone who knits items to sell, this would be an interesting book to study in order to custom make items.

This is an interesting pattern book for knitters. I agree with the author that knitting sweaters in one piece, instead of many pieces that are later patched together, is a much easier method. She's designed her pattern instructions so that a single pattern can be adapted for a child, a man or a woman, and in many styles. And, some of the patterns are given with 2 versions: cardigan or pullover. A section at the back of the book even tells how to add a turtleneck to a pattern. Very versatile. In particular, I was interested in the tunic patterns, which look very easy to make (I'm not the most experienced at knitting sweaters). I would definitely try some of these patterns!

Beautiful book! Besides several patterns in different styles, it includes a lot of charts so that knitters can create their own individual sweater.

One-Piece Knits by Margaret Hubert explains the principles of constructing sweaters and cardigans knit top down, side to side, and back to front. For each, the author gives instructions for child’s sizes, women’s sizes, and men’s sizes worked in dk, worsted and bulky yarns. I loved the way the manual used charts to give the knitting instructions, expected yarn usage, etc. In addition to the principles of construction, the book contains patterns illustrating how the construction works. I really like this book.

I love this book! The book has a variety of sizes from children's sizes to adult 5x! There are four basic sweater patterns, each with several add-on variations to spice things up! The charts are well written and easy to follow, as are the written directions for the variations. The best thing is, the charts are also set up for three different weights of yarn, DK or light weight yarn, worsted and bulky! You can re-make these sweaters for different seasons and it's the same basic pattern!

The sweaters look really nice, and the best part, is no setting in the sleeves, which is what one-piece knitting is all about. I really enjoyed the way the book is laid out and it seems like the patterns are even appropriate for an adventurous beginner. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in making a good looking sweater in one piece. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

An excellent guide on charming and timeless knits! Found it a very comprehensive guide that clearly outlines measurements, terminology, and instructions. I've been knitting for about two years now and this guide certainly has inspired me to evolve my knitting techniques.

Since Ann Budd's The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns was published knitter's have been waiting for another book like it. One that give basic construction information and charts for multiple sizes and gauges and then lets the knitter's creative juices take over. Like Ann Budd, Margaret Huber, has included sample patterns to show beginners what can be done with each design type. Huber includes many tricks, tips , and advice on each construction method which helps when choosing where to begin. This is a must have book for every fiber artist.

The Complete Guide to One-Piece Knits
Essential Designs in Multiple Sizes and Gauges for Sweaters Knit Top Down, Bottom Up, and Side-Over
by Margaret Hubert
#TheCompleteGuideToOne-pieceKnits #NetGalley
Was happy to get an early copy of this book. There is so much to it!
Lots of pictures of items that are being made. Appeal of knitting in one piece by using a choice of 4 diffeerent styles: raglan style, yoke style, side to side and from bottom up over the shoulders and down the bottom front.
Charted instructions using the tecniques in multiple sizes, yarn weights and guages. For example one sweater has sizes that range from a child size 2 through man's 2 X and using yarn weights from #3 to #5 yarns. There is also a FAQ about making sweaters in one piece.
There are charts for every size available, charts for yarn weights, gaugest and needle sizes, yarn amounts and tips on how to finish the item.
Abbrecviations used are included. Diagrams of the sweaters showing all the pieces giving you tips about certain sections.
Thing I do not like about this method is that everything is charted due to all the sizes that are available. I think I would rewrite the size I am making so I don't get lost in the charts at any point in time.
Tells you how many stsithces to cast on, how long ribbing is and how to place markers and at what point. After that set of instructions new charts using new yarns are given in their own chart formats.
Bit confusing to me, rather see it spelled out in words and separated by ,'s for each size.
What I do like is at each new section of sweater types the skill level is shown, sizes and yarn to be used and needles and gauages. If you are a new knitter and opened this book you'd probably put it down as all you'd see are the charts and not quite understand what's going on.
I think it would just take me a bit of time to get used to this new format of a pattern.
There are very easy to understand patterns and lots of color photos.
Yoke and some other type sweaters are written out row by row using old format of patterns.
Other emblishments are explained at the end. Author bio included.
Because of the different format that you are used to seeing I hope you give this book a chance-it's an excellent resource because of the yarns, needles, sizes, sweater styles available.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
Received this review copy from Quarto Publishing Group - Creative Publishing International via Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.

If you want to knit sweaters and only wanted ONE book to guide you through it, I would say that THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO ONE-PIECE KNITS is your answer. It contains a basic pattern for top-down raglan sweaters, top-down yoke sweaters, back-to-front sweaters and side-over sweaters, while also giving adjustments for every size between a child's size 2 to a men's size 2x (and women's size 5x). It gives estimated yarn amounts for DK/Sport, Worsted/Aran, and Bulky weight yarns, as well as how to make adjustments to each pattern to accommodate the different gauges. Basically, it really is the all informative book that would allow a knitter the chance to create their own patterns based on a basic pattern, as well as being an amazing guide to any one-piece sweater.

A most useful volume for experienced, adventurous knitters. Just the tool to use to create very individual designs.

I received an ARC of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. The Complete Guide toOne-piece Knits by Margaret Hubert is an excellent resource book for those of us who hate sewing up their sweaters. When I am done knitting I want the sweater to be done. Margaret gives instructions for sweaters that will fit almost anyone from size 2 children’s up to 6X adult in several different yarn weights as well. Most of the sweaters are knit top down on circular needles therefore eliminating my dreaded seams. She also does several sweaters knit from the bottom back up over the shoulders and down the front, you will have side seams in these sweaters but it’s an interesting technique I look forward to trying. I think this book would be a wonderful addition to any knitters reference library. Publishing Date April 3, 2018

This is great for the family knitter. Basic simplified instructions for sweaters for all, children, ladies and men. Very good instructions with pictures. Varied takes on each piece. Good overall for your basic constructions.

I'm a knitter, but I've never tried a sweater before. This book's easy to understand charts and directions make me think that I can do this. It is very informative & gives variations on each theme so you have plenty of choices. As a 'bigger woman" I love that sizes for women go up to 5x & 2x for men. I was given the opportunity to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley and the publisher.

Oh my, you want a complete book that gives you instructions on how to knit one piece knits then this is your book. The author gives you children, womans (small to 5xl), & mens. I can not wait to try some of these out. I wanna make one of each of the styles (Top Down, Side Over, and Back to Front). I can not wait to dig my needles into them. Margaret Hubert gives you detailed size charts and instructions for each size and type.

If you knit and want to knit clothing then you need this book. Well written, lovely photos, and even better instructions.

Knitters will love this book! I requested an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and for someone who is interested in knitting and wanted to try out new patterns of different sizes, this book was a great guide.

The Complete Guide to One-Piece Knits is a comprehensive book for making hand knit sweaters. It is a very knitter friendly book. It is also very well organized, providing basic Information including charts for Children’s, Women’s, and Men’s sweaters in different weight yarns, sizes and gauges. This is a must have book for every knitter’s library.

Great reference work for someone who wants a recipe for all kinds of sweaters (and cardigans) knit in one piece. The only type of sweater that isn't referenced in this sweater is the contiguous sleeve method. This would be a good book for people who want a basic sweater template for yarn they have on hand (since the author gives numbers of stitches for multiple weights of yarn) and/or want a canvas for interesting stitches to incorporate on the base pattern. If you want a sweater book full of very exciting designs, this is probably not for you. But if you want a standard recipe to try out or extrapolate, this is a great book.

A great selection of basic knit tops. LOVE the wide range of sizes and instructions for various yarn weights for patterns. Not for new knitters, but if you have one or two simple garments under your belt and want to expand your knowledge, this is a great book to get.

Note: I received an Advance Reading Copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

I love knitting, but one thing that always intimidates me is putting a piece together. It never looks as nice as the model, and it's always kind of a letdown. So when I saw this book I knew it would be perfect for me.

It's even better than I expected. The book is brilliant. It takes four basic sweaters (raglan, yoke, side-over and back-to-front) in two variations (pullover and cardigan). For each sweater it offers 22 (!!!) sizes (children's from 2 up to 16, women's XS up to 5X and men's S up to 2X). And then as a bonus it offers three extra variations (with cables, colours, patterns etc.), instructions for different collars, button bands and how to insert zippers.

I can honestly say that if you want a basic model sweater, this book has it all. Couple of caveats: You need to be able to measure your recipient well for the right sizing. Knitting a swatch is very important, as the book is so general that it's not written for a specific yarn brand. Despite my presumption that there wouldn't be any sewing there is still some (on the side-over and back-to-front sweaters), but it doesn't seem too bad. The difficulty is probably medium. You need to be able to read a pattern without much visual help (only a basic drawing of the sweater model) and some basic stitching including increases and decreases and working with stitches on a holder.

The knitting community will go crazy over this book! The sweater patterns are stylish and I love the way that the instructions are written in the charts. Very clear and concise. I will definitely purchase a copy when it becomes available! You can't go wrong with anything written by Margaret Huber.

This is an excellent resource on basic seamless sweater construction, gauge, sizing, and modification. Terrific for anyone interested in knitting a first sweater, picking up a new go-to sweater pattern, or creating their own sweater patterns from scratch!

I received this book free for an honest review.

I really like the amount of information given in this book. There are sweater patterns for size 2 children's to 5X woman's and XX males. You can use yarn sized 1 to 5. Most of the patterns are fairly simple in style but if you have experience knitting garments you can fix that easily enough. Being a new knitter and never have done a garment before. This books takes a lot of the complication out of it, so that I feel I could do this. You can knit the sleeve in one piece with the back and front and have very minimal seaming to do.

The charts are really easy to understand. I think this book would be good for an experienced beginner to expert knitter.

I am a visual learner. What held me back from more complex knitting for a long time was slogging through reading patterns. It wasn’t until I learned to read lace charts that I truly became much more adventurous in my knitting.

Margret Huber’s One-Piece Knits lays out the simplicity of top down sweaters, side to side and simple one piece construction sweaters.
Charts show how many stitches to cast on, increase, decrease all at the prescribed intervals.
And, Margret Huber’s years of experience of an instructor shines as she clearly explains essential techniques for gauge, seaming, installing zippers (the best I have seen!) .

Patterns are included that illustrate each style of one-piece sweater. These instructions are also a worthwhile read, as they will give insight on how to interpret other knitting patterns.

Indeed, the chart format is an essential tool for a top down raglan or yoke sweater. The chart format in this book can be adapted to other patterns to help knitting go a little more smoothly. For top down sweater knitting, Margret Huber’s book will join Barbara Walker’s book on Knitting From the Neck Down on my shelf.

I received a copy of this book from Net Galley to review. Thank you!

Love this book! The patterns are not for a beginner, but for a more advanced knitter. The patterns are clear and easy to understand. Sizing for each project is diverse. The pictures are colorful and really grab your attention.

Useful guide to low sew designs. Very good instructions with excellent photos. I really appreciate the wide range of size instructions. Basic sweaters but classic; this is a book you will be able to use for years without it going out of style.

I wasn't sure how easy it would be to review an online knitting book. I was pleasantly surprised.
The simple format, easy to understand instructions and great images make this book a 'keeper'. I have no doubt I will go back to this book many many times in the years ahead.

I love knitting and sweaters but never knitting sweaters. The sewing and the joining of sleeves....I haven't made a sweater in years. However, I may just change that reading this book. I love the lack of sewing and the patterns are pretty cute as well. To a beginner, some of the shapes may seem weird to be making a sweater, but I promise as long as you follow the directions, the weird square thing will end up as a sweater in the end. I wish more patterns followed this style for clothes and look forward to any future books from this author.

I did like this book. I tried one item and I did nt find any mistakes. I did have to look up some tutorials on how to do some of the stitches but I normally do that. I would say that I wish it had more yarn options for the knits.

Unfortunately the preview expired before I finished knitting one of the jumpers. The book looked really good, so I guess I will buy it, but quite disappointed as it’s over a month until the book is available and I can’t finish the jumper until then.... :(
The book itself looked good, some fun ideas and nice patterns. I used the same yarn as in the book (though different colours), which was a great quality yarn. The patterns I started was easy to follow. Unfortunately as I can’t access the book anymore so I can’t write more details, (I would normally post reviews on Amazon too, but don’t feel I can do that in this case.)

Great book! It is full of wonderful patterns and ideas along with instructions that are easy to understand. It is important in such a book to be inspired and know what you need to fulfill the outcome. This books does it.

The book has a variety of sizes from children's sizes to adult 5x! There are four basic sweater patterns. The charts are well written, however I feel that they would not be that easy for beginning knitters to follow. One thing she does that is nice is she gives variations to the patterns and another thing is that the charts are shown with three different weights of yarn (DK, worsted, and bulky)

I am a knitter, but have been too intimated to try making my own sweater. This book is so thorough that I actually have confidence to give it a try! That in itself is enough to give this book 4 stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily chose to review.

I’ve been knitting for more than forty years, but still love to discover new ways of doing things. Having up to now always been a traditional knitter in the sense that I knit all the various bits and then sew them together, it’s great to come across a new way of creating a garment that doesn’t need seams (or at least very few). Over the years I’ve tried different types of seams, but always come back to the backstitch method my mum taught me. However, it has to be said that for some garments it isn’t the flattest or neatest way to sew up.
So, finding out how to avoid seams at all has been fascinating. And it’s been good to challenge myself to knit something other than a sock in the round. I haven’t a finished a garment yet, but I have a couple underway and they’re working out nicely.
A new way of knitting means a new way of laying out the pattern. The charts in the book are very easy to follow once you get the hang of them. You’ll need stitch markers and a row counter to help keep on track, but those are usual tools of the trade. Yarn amounts are given in yards, which again is something new for me, but easy to deal with since balls of yarn give both weight of the ball and its length on the label.
The garments are knitted in three different ways: top down, side to side and back to front. That last means starting at the back, knitting up over the head and then down the front – not knitting the wrong way round!
There are attractive raglan and yoke pullovers and sweaters with some pretty lace patterns in every size from small children’s 2-16, women’s small to 5X-large and men’s small to XX-large. That should cater for most families!
There are useful tips and tricks too from the author.
This is an innovative and exciting book with super patterns and a fresh approach to knitting.

I have been a knitter for a number of years and anything that cuts down on sewing seams on the finished item is a big bonus, believe me. I would not suggest this book for a beginner but anyone who feels confident following a pattern and has knitted for a while will probably enjoy this different technique. The patterns come in various sizes although a bit plain. I think I would add my own designs. One for my wish list I think.

Absolutely wonderful resource! Everything you need to know to make wearable garments, in a multitude of sizes and yarn weights. This is one of those books that every new knitter needs, and every seasoned knitter will appreciate.

Simple patterns, and wonderful charts for customizing. Everything laid out clearly and concisely. Would make a perfect gift for any knitter!

I have yet to complete a “people-wearing” size sweater, as I’ve only done doll-size, but the group of knitters that I’m part of makes sweaters and they always speak of “sewing” the pieces together as being not such a pleasant part of the process, to put it nicely. This book drew me in because it is an all in one knitted pattern book. I like that this book includes sizing for children, women, and men and it includes different designs for options.
I received a digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is such a well presented book, it is an essential for anyone wanting to construct sweaters for the whole family. The sizing charts are invaluable, and together with yarn type advice, these patterns are achievable for knitters of all stages.
