This is one of the most gorgeous, eye-catching children's books I've ever seen. My son is almost one and is OBSESSED with animals. He loves seeing pictures of them, watching them on tv, and especially seeing them in real life. This book is absolutely fantastic for introducing him to a wider range of animals and we will definitely be adding it to our collection.

Goodreads Rating: 3.5 stars, rounded down to 3.

A delightful and colorful board book! Each letter of the alphabet is represented by a "quirky" animal that likely isn't covered in most "my first animals" types of books. Bonobos, fossas, okapis, and wombats are just a few of the 26 animals. Like other "Little Concepts" books, the illustrations are bold and colorful, with just a slight touch of whimsy and lovely geometric backgrounds. Fans of ABC Color will have fun naming some of the quirky colors used here as well!

While I love this series for illustrations and introduction to obscure facts, this one didn't captivate me quite as much. I think it was because the illustrations were too bare-bones--there was very little context of the animal's habitats given, which would really have made each animal stand out as their own, unique species more. There are a few rocks or leaves or bubbles scattered around the animal, but they recede more into the background and don't add anything to the environment.

All around though, it's a fun installment in the series, and still recommended!

There are so many alphabet books for young children that parents are spoiled for choice. This one has a cute concept. The animals are not the most common ones so there is a little more surprise for the little learner. The book has bright, colorful illustrations that will engage youngsters. At the end, all of the animals are lined up for children to pick out and remember. This one is a good addition for early learners' bookshelves.

I love this book. Not only do I get a little tired of a-is-for-apple alphabet books, but I can see this as a good way to get kids started on a biology report. They can have a choice of one of the animals in the book, and you don't end up with seventeen reports on monkeys. The little ones that this book is particularly aimed at will learn different animals from the basic ant--bear--cat--dog. Since they are at an age where everything is new, it won't seem so unusual to them.

Love the bright colours in this book, I think it will be attractive to toddlers! Was nice to see unusual animals, but thought maybe it could have included a line about each animal. Overall enjoyable to read with my little one

I may confess that although I am often visiting zoos and I do have some experience of wildlife, I was not familiar with many of the animals featured in this book. A reality which makes the reading with a little baby even more exciting as by curiosity together you start researching some of them and you have a lot of family fun guaranteed. You are only given the name of them and a simple illustration and from now on, you are free to discover how the real ones are and what they doin their everyday animal lives. Recommended both to parents and educators, as it may be a funny way to learn in the kindergarten as well.

I read this book with my daughter, she is in the target age range although on the lower end. She really enjoyed looking at the pictures of the animals, she is really in to them at the moment and a nice touch for us was C for Chinchilla as we have three at home! Four stars from us for this one, I think a few of the animal names might be a bit complex for little ones to understand but still a fun book!

When I read this book to my grandchildren, I got very different responses. My two year old often argued with me about what the animals were (i.e. I said Bonobo, she said monkey) while my 5 year old grandson wanted to know more about them. We looked on the internet at various pictures and I read him some of the information. This is a cute ABC book that will bring different things to different readers and/or listeners. There were quite a few animals that I was not familiar with so having a curious grandson, gave me the opportunity to learn more as well. This is a board book so will stand up to the young readers. As well, it can be used with older children when learning about animals in primary classrooms. The publisher, Xist Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, opinions and ideas are my own.

This is a cute and colorful book with 26 new and cool animals to learn your ABCs......you will discover Alapcas, Dingos, Emu, Newts, Pademelon, Tapir, Wombat, and Zonkey. My grandchildren thought it was cute although we were unfamiliar with about half of the animals and I had to look up how to pronounce a few. I would have given it 5 stars if it included a glossary in the back that told a little bit about each animal so that we could become familiar with them without having to get on the internet.

This fun book for young learners includes 26 unusual animals to view while learning the letters of the alphabet... a winning combination for sure.

Many of the animals I had never been introduced to myself so I learned a few things as I read through this delightful boardbook. I love that the author used an out-of-the-box approach to soar above the mundane ABC books that out in the marketplace that feature familiar cats, dogs and bunnies over and over again. She took this experience to a whole new level and introduced such creatures as a fossa, ibis, kiwi, okapi, pademelon, quokka, umbrellabird, xerus, yak and zonkey, just to cite a few. Who knew that these even existed?

Adults and kids alike will delight in learning the alphabet letters that are paired with these exotic animals. This book is highly recommended by Storywraps.

Fantastic, alternative animal book for little ones. Even more special after a recent visit to the zoo where animals like Sloth and Okapi were and now my daughter can recognise them.

A beautifully illustrated, bright and colourful ABC book for early learners.
I love that this book steps away from what you would expect to find in an ABC book and offer lesser known animals that peak our interest and leave us wanting to know more about.

A typical animal alphabet book turned on its head by the use of lesser known animals. Do you know what a Fossa, a chinchilla, or a exrus is? Then it’s time to find out. Read this book with fun illustrations, and fun sounding animals.

Very cute little illustrated alphabet book with an assortment of unusual animals. The art is very hip.
