This book is absolutely magical. Translated from Japanese to English, this book uses gorgeous photography to showcase many small and beautiful woven projects. The book is divided into sections based on what kind of handmade loom was used, and four different basic types of looms are showcased. All are easy to make using household materials, and easy to learn how to use. The projects are so enticing that I put down the galley and made my own frame loom. Thanks to clear instructions, I was able to weave several things right away - this is just the kind of book that makes you want to create beautiful items. Kageyama uses a variety of materials, from lovely silks and cottons, to slubby pompom yarn, to natural twigs and grasses. Making looms is far easier and more approachable than I ever realized, and the portability of small loom projects is a real plus. Tweens to adults can really get started immediately with this book as inspiration, and the showcased projects range from useful to artful. I would recommend this one highly for all libraries, and I look forward to purchasing a copy for my own shelf.

Unique craft book
Harumi Kageyama did a wonderful job with Weaving with Little Handmade Looms. The pictures were beautiful. The instructions on how to make each of the mini looms were helpful and the instructions for the projects very clear.
I received an advance reader copy via Netgalley.

This is a fantastic book on constructing and weaving with small looms. I have done a small amount of weaving, and have found that with a large (or even tabletop sized loom) it is easy to get overwhelmed with the slow speed of the weaving process. A tiny (and therefore easily portable) loom is a spectacular idea for a quick project to give you a sense of accomplishment as well as use up those pesky yarn and ribbon end pieces. I can see this being adapted for a variety of projects: birthday parties, group craft projects, wedding presents, physical therapist exercises, eco-friendly gifts, jewelry. The uses are quite limitless, and I look forward to it being published so I can pick up my own copy.
Thank you to NetGalley for letting me read a copy of the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a very cute and helpful craft book, on how to make mini weaving looms from household objects as well as 25 simple projects to try out on them.
It opens with a flip through of each of the projects, with lovely photos and great descriptions. Then she teaches you how to make each of the different types of loom with great detail and a lot of pictures and diagrams. Finally, there is a section of patterns, each full of diagrams, photos, illustrations and helpful tips.
This book really has all the information in it, she addresses not only weaving technique, but also ways to fix common problems and helpful tips for painless weaving.
I found this book very understandable, and would be able to follow the instructions easily. The craft ideas are very basic, and some of them need a little imagination to figure out exactly what you would do with them, but overall they are very simple and lovely.
I would recommend this book to people who have never weaved before, and to long term weavers who want a bit of off-pieced inspiration.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

25 wonderful projects with easy to follow Instructions. A perfect book to travel with, as the projects use very little supplies, and thus easy to pack up. This book provides small projects that can be finished within an hour. Perfect for those who like instant gratification. A wonderful book to start learning about the weaving world.
A fun book and one that can help you tap into your creativity without a big investment in specialized materials, I think just about anyone interested in weaving could find something helpful here, whether you are experienced with traditional weaving or want to get started without much prior knowledge.
