Description
In 1914, the war to end all wars turns the worlds of John Patrick Scott, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, H.G. Wells, Rebecca West and Harry Houdini upside down. Doyle goes back to ancient China in his hunt for that “red book” to help him write his Sherlock Holmes stories. Scott is hell-bent on finding out why his platoon sergeant has it out for him, and they both discover that during the time of Shakespeare every day is a witch-hunt in London. Is the ability to travel through time the ultimate escape from the horrific present, or do ghosts from the past come back to haunt those who dare to spin the Wheel of Karma?
The Time Traveler Professor, Book Two: A POCKETFUL OF LODESTONES, sequel to SILENT MERIDIAN, combines the surrealism of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five with the supernatural allure of Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell set during WWI on the Western Front.

A Note From the Publisher
Author suggests reading The Time Traveler Professor, Book One: Silent Meridian first to understand the characters and historical timeline.

A Pocketful of Lodestones is a worthy continuation of its award-winning predecessor in the Time Traveler Professor series, Silent Meridian. Even while serving in the trenches on the Great War’s Western Front for much of the book, music professor and ghost writer John Patrick Scott takes us on a well-written romp through time and space via past-life regression, astral projection, telepathy, and telekinesis. Along the way he interacts not only with Arthur Conan Doyle, H.G. Wells, Harry Houdini, and Carl Jung, but with such Elizabethan figures as John Dee and Francis Bacon. This paranormal adventure contains enough Sherlockian Easter eggs to delight the most devoted admirer of the Great Detective. And the story ends on a cliffhanger. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that it opens the door to the eagerly anticipated Book Three of the series.

A good book, perfectly written, clever plot and very interesting characters. The pictures are relevant and enhance the theme of the time travel. The pace is of a good measure, there is time to get acquainted with all the characters.
Scott is able to travel in time via his time machine. Book goes back and forth in time. Interesting book
It was fun to read and entertaining. I read the fist book before and fully appreciated this one.
Recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange of a honest review.
I enjoyed this mystery + time travel book. As a sci-fi fan this worked for me. It's pretty ambitious but well executed overall, and mostly held my interest. I won't spoil the plot, but recommend it for those seeking a detective novel with a twist.
I really appreciate the ARC for review!
If you like a time travel book mixed with suspense and touch of adventure, this book is for you.
I foind the series interesting and easy to read. Indeed, this book took me for an adventure in time through its pages.
Recommended read.
If you love Time Travel sci-fi stories.. then, you already have jumped into your device and bought the book in the future! (It's in your bookcase, silly!) What a fun premise! I have a weakness for time travel novels.. and this one.. had me from the beginning to the end! The characters are fleshed out nicely.. and though it's highly recommended that you read the first book in the series.. I found that I was able to follow along just fine.. without reading the first book. Just takes a little longer to figure out what they're talking about! :)
