A mathematician’s murder draws Toronto PI Neil Walker into a web of Ponzi schemes, political corruption and global cybersecurity nightmares.

Walker, an ex-RCMP financial-crimes specialist, has out-fought warring bikers and put Mafia dons behind bars. Now he’s forced to work with Carole Lisgar, a high-powered political operator he once arrested for corruption. As more bodies drop and the stakes ramp up, Walker uncovers a conspiracy that stretches from Parliament Hill in Ottawa to a beach-front estate outside New York City and the devastated villages of earthquake-shattered Haiti.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC, which was very interesting and very clever.
Rachel was a very clever and wealthy woman who was a mathematician and vociferous campaigner and who was murdered. Her sister Carole finds herself unwillingly at first and then because she wants to know, investigates her death with the help of Neil.
Very clever and very involved storyline.
Highly recommended.

This is a very entertaining story, with good characters, but the plot leaves a little to be desired. There's some strange logic and timing, but it's fiction.

The author wrote a thriller that started with a bang and just kept going! The twists kept coming, so I couldn't put it down. I cannot wait to read more from this author!

Very enjoyable and gripping reading.

“Why Was Rachel Murdered?” is a political and financial intrigue. Private Investigator Neil Walker, an ex-financial-crimes specialist was investigating a mathematician's murder which happened in Toronto. This difficult investigation led him to New York where he will be able to put together the pieces of the puzzle that will allow him to answer the question Why Was Rachel Murdered? His tenacity and perseverance will drive him to eliminate criminal networks involved in money laundering and cybercrime.

“Why Was Rachel Murdered?” is a well written book with a very easy reading. The storytelling is moving fast and the plot includes well designed and strong characters. I personally liked PI Neil Walker and the brilliant politician Carole Lisgar. Oddly I also liked Rachel Lisgar (the mathematician) who has unfortunately died very soon at the beginning of the book.

I highly recommend this novel to those who like fast paced Mystery & Thrillers books.
